The SSL was shook up in S10 alright, new divisions giving us tight games for the most part, and the finals will test the best from each. Power rating for the season's efforts will determine placement, a mix of TW, TD diff, Cas diff, and Score. Precise measures once we account for the new division's effects.
Our 6 most Powerful returning teams will go to Whipsundays.
Next 6 most Powerful return to Paintree Rainforest.
Next 6 return to The Blasted Plains.
Rest with the new teams in Red Mountains.
Stunties can shuffle up or down one after teams are confirmed, the four winners of these divisions will meet in the playoffs to be crowned SSL Champions.
We're finishing up confirming who's in and out, looks like we're full from a quick recruitment and the return of a couple of older teams to the fray.
Draw will be Amazon, Dark Elf, and Slann.
SSL features NO PLAYER RETIREMENTS, no concessions allowed, so you'll get pitch cleared some days and run up a stack of perms with the best of us.
There's 100k for TWO free cards, +1 to all fouls, Sneaky Git goes to KO box (or just hangs out on the pitch holding his breath until the ref lets him play again), Secret Weapon stars only, MUST TAKE STATS on Skill ups (not for stunty teams those last two), Right Stuff cancels Tackle on blocks, and there is a spiked ball in play at all times (apparently made with sharp wooden stakes). Be cool to each other, have a chat, no timeouts, feel free to ask folks to keep it moving if you're in a rush.
Full rules on the group page (and key points for coaches on the season PMs), along with some awards and a little team recognition updated when the regular season ends.
Kickoff is the 21st of October at the latest, and we'll be wrapped up the regular season by 11th December. Tight turnarounds over with for next year.
We are Sydney timezone league (server +9 just for now, server +10 from the 29th Oct for almost all of the season), five rounds of ten days each, if you might be interested for future seasons, leave a message here, or PM bigbullies, jevouse, or tussock, or join the discord we share with other southern leagues, and say hi. |

GreySquirrel got Amazon.
suttbutt got Dark Elf.
S11 sees a return of the Black Gulf Breakers (Dwarf, cdwat) and the Wasteland Scaggers (Underworld, Samarantae) from short breaks as well. We'll get the team power ratings finalised and divisions sorted as the S10 finals are played.
Here's S11 Power ratings, and likely divisions, give or take.
Whipsundays
296 Norse
246 Vampire
241 Chaos Chosen
224 Human
??? Wood Elf
218 Dwarf
Paintree Rainforest
205 High Elf
195 Orc
189 Elf Union
187 Skaven
185 Nurgle
172 Chaos Dwarf
The Blasted Plains
170 Khemri Tomb Kings
167 Shambling Undead
167 OGARS

143 Necromantic Horror
Red Mountains
??? Lizardmen
071 Halfling

Plus the finalists are fitting in, the new teams are now in the Red Mountains, but there's an option for stunties to go up or down a division if they like, bumping the nearest into their old spot.

In other news, S10 awards, and a little team recognition, up on the group page. Fancy formatting doesn't work on forums. |

If anyone missed my somewhat mangled PM, we are kicked off with a few fillers in place to momentarily maintain the integrity of the divisions. Rules, etc, check 'em, don't forget your two free cards, secret weapon stars only, +1 to foul.
First round due 1st Nov, then 11th, 21st, 1st Dec, and 11th. Plenty of time for finals over the break. Good luck, all, go the Vamps. |

A quick season review, until I get the bits of bosh polished (which will require that server the scripts are on to function again, hmm, good luck with that Shraaaag ).
Vamps took Whipsundays, while the S10 champion Woodies did not do well, as is right and good, 0/0/5 and -24 cas diff. An end to Hank Hammerhoof for the Chaos, got out against the big Norse. He'll be missed. Norse took 8 cas all season, against the meanest the SSL has to offer. Come on folks, really, must do better. Go the Humans for putting them out of the finals though, top stuff that: if in doubt, just pretend the Ogre has BT already, all the best coaches do it.
High Elves take Paintree Rainforest, just barely. Too much blodge, Rats beat 'em, but it wasn't enough. Elf Union also in it right to the end on a 4+ pickup, should scatter better really. Robbie Deans survived too, bless.
Underworld take the Blasted Plains, barely, but quite a cap for a returning older team. Close all 'round that one, other than the OGARS, where a Chainsaw bagged their ST 6 in turn one of game one and it was all OGAR from there.
Lizardmen just stayed down in Red Mountains, and won it again, promotions this time, but you could hear the Goblins screaming foul from miles away.
Finals are on, probably put word up in chat when we know times. That's a bit short in the divisions I'm not in, but well, write your own!

For the Lizards, regular S11 games, 13 points (1 concession for), +10 Cas diff, +4 TD diff. If you have a very successful season in SSL and beat up the teams around you, the power ratings are going to increase your challenges the next time around, often substantially so.
If that new challenge knocks you around in turn, you'll normally get a recovery season after it, just like those Woodies and Humans for S12, or the Nurgle and High Elf had S11.
Paintree Rainforest will capture a fair range of more successful S11 mid-size squads with the less imposing large ones, the smaller teams will have inducements all the way, maybe some extra Apos to limit the perms somewhat. Or Merc DP Saurus! |
