Over the last few months I have been reading up on Warhammer Cults.

And now I'm starting to publish the rosters I've been developing.

I found it hard to avoid falling into the trap of creating the human team over and over again. So hopefully, I've create some unique teams which honour the Lore, but also provides a unique challenge.

Here is the blog post

And the first cult is Morr. Check it out here:

It would be good to get some feedback.

As a huge fan of the good old Warhammer pen and paper rpg, I really like the fluff behind your team! Simply excellent.

About the roster itself:
The archetypes are imho well conceived (especially the « Pro+Side step » combo)

An idea : They worship Morr, they don't fear death. Therefore.... why do they use an Apo? To escape from Death? From... Morr? My proposition : NO Apo allowed for this team. In exchange : NO regen for the Undead/Necro/Khemri opponents when they face your team. The Morr coach knows some rituals to cancel the Necromancer's regen powers.

Hope my broken English makes sense!

Anyway, good job Apus! Can't wait to see the other cults! Smile

Cheers for the feedback.

You could definitely have that rule. Though a team without Apo and no regen can be very painful to play. See Secret League Elemental Teams.

If I went down the route of no Apo in FUMBBL, I think you'd need to slightly reduce the price of the players, so the coach could cheaply replace killed/injured players.

Sweet dude, great idea. Makes me want to read the bible (WFRP 1st ed rulebook) again.
Shallya will be interesting. The money raised needs to go to the orphans, obviously, but maybe some of them could play on the team?

That Morr team ... on 1.07 million you can have six Orcs with Block and S access, and seven Humans, with 2 Dauntless and 2 each Foul Appearance, Side Step (A access for easy Blodge), and Stand Firm, plus an Apo and three RR counters. That's super sweet and tight, right there. Were this roster imported into R/B, it would be super OP below 1600k.

Shallya is really tough to create for Bloodbowl as there main goal is to bring comfort. There is an old roster which I’ve used as a basis. But I am not happy with it yet.

Yep. I agree the Morr team is Tier 1+.

Out of all the Imperial Cults, they are the best suited for Bloodbowl. They are very militaristic.

What if you bumped the Black Rose and Black Guard up to 90k? Then the roster wouldn't be as grotesque.

That or 60k Team Re-Rolls. EDIT: not both.

As-Is
2 Raven Knights: 160k
2 Black Rose Knights: 160k
2 Black Guard: 160k
1 Priest: 70k
5 Linemen (12 players): 250k
1 Apothecary: 50k
3 Re-Rolls: 150k
0k cash, buy a Priest, done.

90k Black Guard and Black Rose means you need to sack your 12th man. If you do the 60k RR instead, you would be able to get a second Priest in compensation.

Another way to subtly make the team weaker is to put the Block players on a human chassis, with MA6 but AV8. AV8 Stand Firm is nowhere near as cool as AV9 Stand Firm. Alternatively, you could make the Linemen 5 3 3 9 like the Block players, and the Priests at MA6 will be kinda forced into balling duties. In the latter case, you don't

Scythe Priest is pretty unusable, also. I'd remove, but turning him into an independent 0-1 with a saw might do. (Pro + SS + Saw is very potent, so he should be pricey.)

Also, also, you may wanna consider BB2020 in building and balancing this team. One thing that will help is that the Linos and Priests should have no better than a 4+ PA and all the Block players should be 5+. That will make them even more monodimensional. You could bump Priests to 75k and give them PA 3+.

Thanks for the input.

I think I will increase the price of two of the knights to 90K and the Priest to 80K.

As the players are drawing from different orders, maybe rerolls to 60K would be appropriate.

I really like the scythe player and it fits with the Lore around the team. I might make him a 0-1 specialised player, but I also like the rule around only picking two priests. It kind of makes the team unique.

I have BB2020 at the back of my mind, but haven't thought it about more than that.

Although lacks both strength and speed (or easy Blodgers) so I feel it can't be near tier 1.
That said I can see it being effective at low TV, and is a interesting roster. Good job Apus!

Yeah, the scythe player is pretty cool conceptually. I'm just saying that Claw and 10k savings doesn't balance out Secret Weapon. As for the price hikes, maybe just the re-roll hike or +10k on two positionals. Both is a bit much.

lets see, if i built this team it would be:

cultist 50k
priest 90k
priest with scythe 50k
black guard 100k
knight of black rose 90k
knight of raven 100k
re-rolls 50k

that's using my team building rules, which make teams that are slightly more expensive than the average in the core rulebook (under the assumption that some core teams are slightly underpriced). these rules also base re-roll price on what the rest of the team actually is; this team qualifies as a team with high access to starting skills that is unified as a whole, and has very few starting stats, and therefore gets cheap re-rolls

Cheers for the input. All feeds in to the thought process.

I've reduce the price of the scythe player to 50K. Increased the price of the Raven, Guard and Priest.

I increased the reroll because even though they are militaristic and clearly well organised, they are separate orders and so they won't necessary work as much as a team.

I am trying to make all the cult teams I am developing into unique puzzles. So maybe slightly overpricing could actually create a more difficult challenge.
