James Sideburn
Image
Golden Gate Warrior

It is with great sadness that the Golden Gate Warriors say farewell to their teammate James Sideburn, whose life was tragically ended in the controversial game against the Buffalo BullCentaurs. James who wore shirt number six started playing for the Warriors as a freshman and scored one touchdown and was awarded one MVP during his first season. James also suffered from a serious injury in the game versus the Torxas State Bobkats which caused him to miss one game and left him with a grave and lasting leg injury that he suffered from ever since. James Sideburn was also part of the team that won the Wonderbra Bowl in the bowl game versus DD Tech.
In his eulogy speech, coach HanZzz praised him for his unselfishness and his dedication to the team, mentioning that after his leg injury he had requested Line of Scrimmage duty, because he felt that his hampered movement would be less of an issue in those close-quartered play situations. In the final moments of his life he pushed himself to the limits to score the final touchdown of his career. Though he will be sorely missed by the team, coach HanZzz stated that for a Warrior like James, to die on the pitch with his teammates at his sides after having scored a brilliant touchdown was one of the best possible ends of a career imaginable.

Coach HanZzz also confirmed that as a coach he supported the fan-started petition to rename the Warriors’ Stadium into the James Sideburn Stadium.

Golden Gate fans outraged over "severe warning"

San Francisco, Wednesday – This past night, in the wake of yesterday’s game large numbers of angry Golden Gate fans have been causing mayhem in the streets of San Francisco.

Spurred by anger over the mild punishment for the Buffalo BullCentaurs, scores of drunken fans have been rioting throughout the night. Numerous store windows on Market Street were smashed in and at least two cars have been set ablaze by the hooligans. In an altercation between SFPD and the hooligans at the Civic Center, one police officer has been lightly wounded by a drunken hooligan wielding a broken bottle. Dozens of arrests have been made.

Coach HanZzz has asked the fans to keep their calm, pointing out that it’d be better to take out their rage on the BullCentaurs.

Numerous local merchants and storekeepers have said they’d ban all products from Buffalo. Though what that means for your average consumer isn’t really clear. Nahir Radeela, owner of a convenience store in the Union Square district and Warriors fan, told the Chronicle that it wasn’t the quantity of products that would no more appear in his store that mattered, but that it was the idea behind the whole boycott that counted.

Kyle Jones, sophomore at Golden Gate University told the Chronicle that he as a student representative had plans to organize a student protest demonstration against the violence in college sports. In his own words: ‘Because that’s what we do in San Francisco! Who else is going to have a demonstration, Berkeley – not as big as ours!’

Further, SFO International Airport reports that at least two passengers have cancelled their flight to Buffalo, NY, though they couldn’t confirm that the cancellations were related to the events in the game.

In all likelihood pressured by the circumstances, Coach HanZzz has officially announced that his team will be on rivalry status with the Buffalo BullCentaurs starting next season.

No doubt this story will be to continued…

In somewhat of shocking fashion, Hawaii comes out and throws up 5 TD's against a good Golden Gate squad. After trading quick td's in the first, a throw went awry from the Strong Arm'ed thrower for GG. Hawaii pounced on it, and didn't look back. They through bodies, elbows, footballs, jock straps, anything they could get their hands on to chuck toward the end zone.

In fairness, a large factor in the game was the blazing heat that really took its toll on the GG reserves. Hawaii, being from Hawaii, seem to bask in the uppper range of the thermostats, shrugging it off like a yak making a move on a sheep-covered Russo.

Sadly, the Hawaiians will be saying goodbye to yet another thrower, as he will be the 2nd in 3 games to skill and age on his first try. Hawaii, however, has shown to the NCBB committees that they are going to be a team to be reckoned with this season, as they expect to climb back closer to that spot with a revenge date set against Oregon.

By the way, Ryan....

Would you mind terribly designing some cool red-shirt logo? Something that could fit onto your beautiful table that you placed in the forums a few pages ago? I love the table, and used it for Hawaii. Thank you so much for everything you do for us non-computer-smart people.

CBBS Week 3 Update

Now into week 4, the new season is well under way. The overall picture is getting clearer by the round, so let's take a look at how the teams are doing:

Unofficial Standings:
1) Oregon (3-0-0) W 3-2 vs Clemson
2) Mizzou (3-0-0) W 6-0 vs Buffalo
3) Nibraskah (3-0-0) W 4-0 vs Torxas
4) Hawaii (2-0-1) W 5-1 vs GG
5) PainState (2-1-0) T 1-1 vs TTech
6) UCon (2-0-1) W 2-0 vs Vandy
7) Cal (2-0-1) W 2-1 vs BYU
8 ) GG (2-0-1) L 1-5 vs Hawaii
9) ND (2-0-1) W 1-0 vs DD
10) TTech (1-1-1) T 1-1 vs Pain
11) Minni (0-2-1) T 2-2 vs Navy
12) Clemson (0-1-2) L 2-3 vs Oregon
13) Navy (0-2-1) T 2-2 vs Minni
14) BYU (1-0-2) L 1-2 vs Cal
15) Buffalo (0-1-2) L 0-6 vs Mizzou
16) DD Tech (0-0-3) L 0-1 vs ND
17) Vandy (0-0-3) L 0-2 vs UCon
18 ) Torxas (0-0-3) L 0-4 vs Nib

Another week, another dominating performance by the Big Beast. With four wins and two ties, they still have five teams in the top seven (with Oregon and UCon being the two others.) PainState tied lowly Texas Tech, which dropped them three spots from last week, but Minni managed to tie Navy after an epic T15 gobo-toss. Otherwise, it was just another week of beastin on the job.

In other news (not that there is any, but we have a word quota to fill,) we have a few interesting matchups in week four that might be worth watching. The headliner is the Missouri (3-0-0) vs Golden Gate (2-0-1) match, which features two high-octane pro elf attacks. The Tigers are far more experienced and skilled, but nuffle can be cruel when there's so much Ag4 on the field. Another interesting matchup will be Hawaii (2-0-1) and Notre Daze (2-0-1), as the contrast of styles will test this Beast member before conference play begins. Yet the biggest storyline could be the third matchup between Cal (2-0-1) and Navy (0-2-1). The season 5 Killer Light bowl saw these two meet for the first time, and a t16 skeleton nuffling later, the hatred between these two would never be quenched. They met again in season 7, where the Lizards cruised to a 2-0 win. So how will the dice fall this time? Only one way to know for sure...(someone go in and swap out the dice with loaded ones in my favor.)

Anyways, here are some notes from last week:

We had three blowout games last week, with Mizzou, Nibraskah, and Hawaii (all from the Beast,) being the benefactor. Clearly we intimidate teams so much that they don't bother to show up.

The biggest upset was the 2-2 tie between Minni and Navy. Despite having double the number of blocks as the Gogres, Navy was still befuddled by a tactic/sport known as "gobo tossing" employed by Minni. Epic stuff to watch.

The most interesting game was definately the clash between Oregon and Clemson. The Terrors were the first team to ever beat the Waterfoul, and they had a 2-1 lead about midway through the second half thanks to numerous 1s on both sides. But the next few turns were even crazier, as the ball changed hands every single turn, only to be fumbled, dropped, or knocked loose. Eventually Oregon tied the game with a few turns left, and then took advantage of a loose ball in the backfield to steal the game away in the final seconds.

I could bother you to read about statistical stuff, like scoring and fouls, but I'll save that for the next update as I'll review the first four weeks of the season and prepare for conference play. Likewise, look for the Season 8 stats tabs to be updated after this round, so we can know which players have been dominating this season (and who to foul.)

Until next time, keep beastin along.

Big Beast Roundtable

Although we're not even halfway through week 4 in O.o.C. play in the BCS schools, many fans and coaches have been looking forward to conference play for a while now, specifically in the Big Beast. The 'Beast' has dominated OoC play so far, going a combined 16-4-4 up until the point of publication. Two of their teams, specifically Nibraskah and PainState, still have a game this week, but they're favored in both. Although nothing is certain when nuffle is involved, what is certain that the anticipation for the Big Beast battle is building by the day. And thus one eager-reporter set out to interview each of the coaches, determined to gather some bulletin-board material, as well as other interesting and/or boring information inbetween...

First we got an interview with the Flyin Hawaiian's head coach
[17:52] <eager-reporter> coach! over here
[17:52] * eager-reporter waives his hands frantically
[17:53] <eager-reporter> franticlly?
[17:53] <eager-reporter> w/e
[17:53] <Apojar|Hawaii> hi
[17:53] <eager-reporter> congrats on your win earlier today
[17:53] <eager-reporter> what are your thoughts on the game?
[17:53] <Apojar|Hawaii> I thank you.
[17:54] <Apojar|Hawaii> Well, we played well enough to win, but it just seemed like an "average" effort. Nothing stunning or out of the ordinary.
[17:54] <Apojar|Hawaii> the defense played well, the offense was average at best
[17:54] <eager-reporter> do you think an "averge" effort will get it done in the upcoming big beast confernce play?
[17:54] <eager-reporter> conference**
[17:55] <Apojar|Hawaii> I certainly do not. I would've hoped to see a more concerted effort in establishing the team's "aura" in the out of conference series
[17:55] <Apojar|Hawaii> the first few games were excellent effort, but sadly, this one seemed lackluster
[17:56] <Apojar|Hawaii> don't get me wrong, there was good coaching on the other side of the pitch today, but the boys seemed uneager and unwilling to put up anything extra.
[17:56] <eager-reporter> have any thoughts or predictions on the Beast? the group seems pretty awesome, collectively
[17:58] <Apojar|Hawaii> at the moment, the teams are all very strong. It's hard to pinpoint any one team that will stand above the rest.
[17:58] <eager-reporter> well clearly the gogres will "stand" above the rest
[17:58] <Apojar|Hawaii> However, all the strength in the world of that conference has not allowed it to solve the problems in dealing with Oregon.
[17:58] <Apojar|Hawaii> I suppose you are right about that.
[17:58] <eager-reporter> yes, it does seem that all roads might lead to the Waterfoul...again
[17:58] <eager-reporter> any thoughts on your games vs them earlier this season?
[17:59] <eager-reporter> it was a close contest, but they pulled away in the end
[17:59] <eager-reporter> as always.
[17:59] <Apojar|Hawaii> based on our showing this season against them, where they had to make a few miraculous style plays to win, we'll be ready for them.
[17:59] <eager-reporter> anything specific that you would have done differently?
[17:59] <Apojar|Hawaii> I certainly hope to have the chance to coach against them again, and soon.
[17:59] <Apojar|Hawaii> yes
[17:59] <Apojar|Hawaii> SCORE
[17:59] <eager-reporter> win?
[17:59] <eager-reporter> ah, very good
[17:59] <Apojar|Hawaii> that's what I would do differently
[18:00] <Apojar|Hawaii> we played that game about as well as we could
[18:00] <Apojar|Hawaii> their star wide receiver was a non-factor for the most part that game
[18:00] <Apojar|Hawaii> but we did suffer from the issues of getting knocked out quite a bit
[18:00] <eager-reporter> which one? heh
[18:00] <eager-reporter> yes, Oregon was hittin hard out there
[18:00] <Apojar|Hawaii> their superstar, the blodge/tackle/mb/teh_awesome
[18:01] <eager-reporter> ah yes, I've seen him a few times
[18:01] <eager-reporter> darn good player
[18:01] <Apojar|Hawaii> I couldn't agree more
[18:01] <eager-reporter> one last thought coach
[18:01] <Apojar|Hawaii> but, one great player does not a team make, and I'd like to think, and of course, I'll be a bit biased here
[18:02] <eager-reporter> go ahead
[18:02] <Apojar|Hawaii> I'd like to think that we have the "tightest" unit in all of the land.
[18:02] <Apojar|Hawaii> in that we have great team chemisty and cohesion.
[18:02] <eager-reporter> navy would certainly have the "loosest"
[18:02] <eager-reporter> oh, chemistry wise
[18:02] <Apojar|Hawaii> well, if I may post a bit of billboard material for Navy...
[18:02] <eager-reporter> and they need it.
[18:03] <Apojar|Hawaii> they are about as fun as a pay toilet in a diarrhea ward
[18:03] <eager-reporter> ha
[18:03] <eager-reporter> i just have one more question coach, and ill let you go
[18:03] <eager-reporter> as i know you're a busy man
[18:04] <eager-reporter> given your team's troubles with developing a thrower in the recent past, are you going to try and recruit another one soon, or just wing it?
[18:05] <Apojar|Hawaii> we will be going this season it appears with the approach of "if you're near the ball, get it and throw it"
[18:05] <Apojar|Hawaii> we're big on passing the ball, so no one will mind the job
[18:06] <eager-reporter> very good coach
[18:06] <eager-reporter> good luck with the rest of your season
[18:06] <Apojar|Hawaii> I thank you sir

We then caught up with the Missouri head coach...we think...
[18:07] <eager-reporter> coach! can we have a minute of your time?
[18:07] *** Relezite changed nick to Coach
[18:08] <Coach> What can I do for you?
[18:08] <eager-reporter> i wanted to ask a few questions about your team
[18:08] <eager-reporter> if you dont mind
[18:08] *** Coach changed nick to Coach-Ladyfingers
[18:09] <Coach-Ladyfingers> I would be happy to address the press finally. Its been a quiet season so far.
[18:10] <eager-reporter> thats pretty surprising given your team's success so far
[18:10] <eager-reporter> 4-0, is it?
[18:10] <Coach-Ladyfingers> Ah I prefer to think of each touchdown as a game in itself.
[18:10] <eager-reporter> so...17-2?
[18:11] <Coach-Ladyfingers> Yes, correct, that's how my darlings have been trianed to treat it this season.
[18:11] <eager-reporter> well clearly they have learned well
[18:12] <eager-reporter> but how do you think they'll react against much tougher competition during big beast conference play?
[18:12] <Coach-Ladyfingers> ???
[18:12] <eager-reporter> when it isnt a blow out
[18:13] <Coach-Ladyfingers> Does it matter if the brute lined up against you is a lovely sprite or hulking blue beast?
[18:13] <eager-reporter> you're the coach, you tell me
[18:14] <Coach-Ladyfingers> This is a game between us and the endzone.
[18:14] <eager-reporter> can you lose such a game?

Next was the hardest of the four to catch, as he was almost mouse-like
[18:39] <eager-reporter> coach! we'd like to ask you a few questions
[18:41] <Sleepyweasel> hi
[18:41] <eager-reporter> how do you think your team will do in the bowl rematch with vandy?
[18:42] <Sleepyweasel> well the team has a bit more experience and the freshman are now soph's so they know the pressure
[18:42] <Sleepyweasel> but somer is a quality coach so it won't be taken lightly
[18:43] <eager-reporter> Vandy's had a rough season so far, but they're still deadly
[18:43] <eager-reporter> though the beast will expect you to take care of buisness
[18:44] <Sleepyweasel> anytime you have multiple vamps running around biting people it's dangerous
[18:44] <Sleepyweasel> even for his own guys
[18:44] <eager-reporter> heh
[18:44] <eager-reporter> so, on to the big question
[18:44] <Sleepyweasel> well we expect to take care of business as well, we have championship aspirations
[18:44] <eager-reporter> how do you think your team will do in big beast conference play
[18:45] <Sleepyweasel> as everyone knows it's the best conference in the league but our rats are up to the challenge
[18:45] <eager-reporter> do your teams injuries worry you at all?
[18:45] <Sleepyweasel> barring any major injuries or questionable grades we should be fine... nope the injuries we have are no worries
[18:45] <eager-reporter> none at all?
[18:45] <Sleepyweasel> Ahmed and Haglak have done fine with their injuries
[18:46] <eager-reporter> very true
[18:46] <Sleepyweasel> we have some of the best trainers in the league keeping them on the field
[18:46] <eager-reporter> good to hear
[18:46] <eager-reporter> any predictions on the beast?
[18:46] <eager-reporter> like who will come out on top...aka survive
[18:47] <Sleepyweasel> hard to go against the raining champs Missou, but Cal/Pain have a bit more toughness
[18:47] <Sleepyweasel> it will depend on if speed can find the way around them
[18:47] <eager-reporter> dont forget about hawaii, they're lookin strong as well
[18:47] <eager-reporter> as they won earlier today
[18:47] <Sleepyweasel> true, I think all teams will have 1 loss somewhere
[18:47] <Sleepyweasel> it just depends on who loses to who
[18:47] <Sleepyweasel> and when
[18:47] <eager-reporter> so does the beast's toughness play into the hands of an outsider, such as Oregon?
[18:48] <Sleepyweasel> an early loss may not be a bad thing vs a late loss
[18:48] <eager-reporter> currently they're unbeaten and look to have a fairly easy path to the title
[18:48] <Sleepyweasel> I think so, if they can stay relatively healthy I think it will play big dividends. If the winner gets beat up badly might not
[18:49] <eager-reporter> do you think anyone from the beast can actually BEAT oregon?
[18:49] <eager-reporter> two teams have tried this season and failed
[18:49] <eager-reporter> that being Cal and Hawaii
[18:49] <Sleepyweasel> yes i think they can.. hawaii played them tough, I was in the stands for that one. I missed the Cal game but have the film in my office and plan to watch when i get the time
[18:49] <eager-reporter> yeah... i wouldnt watch those
[18:49] <eager-reporter> ugly game to be sure.
[18:50] <eager-reporter> unrelated question
[18:50] <Sleepyweasel> Well i'm sure there are some weaknesses to be exploited in oregon somewhere just have to find them
[18:50] <Sleepyweasel> and pray to nuffle
[18:50] <eager-reporter> where do you leave your opponents game film?
[18:50] <Sleepyweasel> could take a page from the gogres and sacrafice a goat or something (laughs)
[18:50] <eager-reporter> heh
[18:50] <eager-reporter> looks like they sacraficed a few of their own today
[18:51] <eager-reporter> players, that is
[18:51] <eager-reporter> a bold move indeed
[18:51] <Sleepyweasel> yeah so i read, bit rough for them before the beast conf starts play
[18:51] <eager-reporter> indeed
[18:51] <Sleepyweasel> their apo should have spent more time reading the med books instead of imbibing alcohol
[18:51] <eager-reporter> so, coach, any final thought on your team or the conference?
[18:52] <Sleepyweasel> Well i'm proud of my rats so far and look forward to see how much havoc their team speed will cause
[18:52] <eager-reporter> safe to say, you give opposing defensive coordinators nightmares
[18:52] <Sleepyweasel> If we can keep the ball in the opposing half most of the game things will be good. otherwise bad things will happen
[18:52] <Sleepyweasel> as for the conference, i'm happy to be part of it and it will be fun and challenging
[18:52] <eager-reporter> well im lookin forward to watching it
[18:53] <eager-reporter> thanks for your time, coach
[18:53] <Sleepyweasel> i wish them all luck except when playing me
[18:53] <Sleepyweasel> no problem eager. happy to chat

Finally we found coach TodFa, who's team is eager to get back to the title game after reaching it but falling short (to an elven team, no less,) in season 6
[19:22] <eager-reporter> coach TodFa, can we have a minute of your time?
[19:28] <Da_Todfatha> sure
[19:28] <eager-reporter> how would you rate your team's performance so far this season'
[19:29] <Da_Todfatha> Not too bad so far
[19:30] <Da_Todfatha> we'll need to control the elves and skaven better than we have in the past this season, tho.
[19:31] <eager-reporter> for sure
[19:32] <eager-reporter> any thoughts on the upcoming big beast conference play?
[19:33] <Da_Todfatha> well Im looking forward to it. THe Big Beast has proven itself to be the Conference to beat as it has thoroughly thrashed the other conferences this year
[19:33] <Da_Todfatha> THough Id like to see more casualties suffered by everyone.
[19:34] <Da_Todfatha> the skaven and elves will be difficult to beat, but we gotta play our game and make them play it too!
[19:35] <eager-reporter> sounds like a plan coach
[19:35] <eager-reporter> are there any specific things you'll want to change from seasons past?
[19:37] <Da_Todfatha> Our biggest failing has been containment and ball control. We havent had the right personnel in a few positions and maybe a little more luck.
[19:37] <Da_Todfatha> we've got some seniors that are great ballplayers
[19:38] <Da_Todfatha> that hopefully we can send to the bigs as champions, but its a long road ahead of us.
[19:39] <eager-reporter> indeed it is
[19:40] <eager-reporter> is there any one team that you would label as a "favorite" in the conference? or is it pretty even
[19:42] <Da_Todfatha> they are all threatening, Mizzou, hawaii and Nibraskah are tough and can score at will. cali and Pain State are tough middle of the road teams, and minnesohta can pound any team and ruin their chances.
[19:43] <Da_Todfatha> it wouldnt be bad money on Mizzou...someone has to stop them first, they're proven contenders
[19:43] <eager-reporter> they've scored an amazing 17 goals in 4 games.
[19:44] <Da_Todfatha> have they? good grief. They wont score that many vs. Beast opponents.
[19:44] <eager-reporter> i sure hope not
[19:45] <eager-reporter> granted 5 were vs Clemson, who had fumblidis
[19:45] <eager-reporter> and 6 was vs the undermanned buffalo team
[19:45] <eager-reporter> otherwise it was 3 vs DD and 3 vs GG
[19:45] <eager-reporter> but still, 3 is a lot
[19:46] <Da_Todfatha> heheh 3 is a lot. but thats why its hard to determine who is a favoriite in the Big Beast, as a conference it is virtually untested
[19:46] <eager-reporter> except when Oregon played, and beat, both Cal and Hawaii
[19:47] <eager-reporter> two of the four losses suffered by the conference
[19:48] <Da_Todfatha> Oregon has an Admin's own luck, there's no other way to describe it. hehe AOL. nobody wants it but those that have it live by it.
[19:51] <eager-reporter> so do you think any big beast team can beat them in the title game, if it came to that?
[19:53] <Da_Todfatha> oh sure! Coach Kryten is a lucker, and luckers always have their luck run ou, um wait are you writing all this stuff down?
[19:54] <eager-reporter> no...
[19:54] <Da_Todfatha> that's it this interview is OVAL! or whatever!
[19:56] <eager-reporter> thanks for the chat coach

So there you have it! We successfully tracked down and contacted four of the coaches in the Big Beast, without question the toughest conference in the NCBB. It'll be interesting to see which of these men...or ladyfingers, comes out on top and perhaps challenges for a BCS title shot. We'll keep you posted as conference play gets closer.

AP--Dullest, TX...In a startling move (but not unexpected), Darkside Doctoral Tech (for Niggling Arts) has sacked head coach and founder "Scary" Mary Irvin. As with all things relating to the Dark Elves, this move was executed with absolute cold, calculating tactics.....a poisoned dagger in the back.

Hired to the Head Coaches role, is none other than Mack "Touchdown" Brown. After leading the University of the Darkside for countless seasons, he has decided to tackle this coaching of an all female Bloodbowl Squad. (Rumor has it that some blackmail was involved, but these are Dark Elves, would you expect anything less?)

When asked about this opportunity and what he was going to do to make this team formidable, Brown replied, "This team has some potential. I see some bruising strength, some blazing speed, and did you see the rack..er, I mean, the arm on that Thrower? We're going to play some more controlled offense and defense. This wide open crap they've been trying has clearly been a failure."

After an 0-4 opening to the season, D.D. and Mack Brown have their work cut out for them. Opening up the division portion of the schedule, the DD Ladies have two rivalry matches upcoming and will have to put on a Cal-type of turn around to salvage this season. There is big pressure to exact revenge on the Golden Gate "boys" for the Wonderbra bowl loss, where the team blew a significant lead late, eventually getting their doors blown off in O.T. Since the folding of NLH, the smack talking from the Navy skele's earned them the schools second rivalry status.

Asked about the pressure to perform and if he was worried that his tenure might be ended abruptly with a poisoned tipped "pink-slip", Brown replied, "Just business as usual in the Dark Elf world."

Ring of Honor ceremony for "Scary" will be held at halftime of the next DD home match. New "Scary" Daggers will be handed out to the first 5,000 DD fans in attendance.

Now everyone knows Cal is a punch line in this league, not a team to name drastic turn arounds after. We thank you for the compliment, but hope you realize the only reason we "won" a few games recently is because we haven't played anyone from the beast yet!

(Also the combined record of the three teams we beat is 1-2-4 when you exclude the game we played against them.)

Regardless, best of luck to your new coach. I'm sure he's going to enjoy his time at DD tech, especially in the locker room...

Nibraskah and Vandy finally had their rematch from bowl season. Nibraskah got out with a 3-1 win. Hyglak was the true MVP of that match. He busted a cage and stripped the ball 3 times slowing down the Offense. Then luckily the apo was paying attention to the game and not drinking his ale when Hyglak looked a gonner. Bluto pulling only a dumbheaded move that a Rat Ogre can is taking the next game off with an "injury" but really coach McClean is pretty ticked at the big guy right now.

CBBS Week 4 + O.o.C. Review

Out of conference play is finally over, and that means we can move onto the important part of the season. Conference play is now beginning, which means rivalry games and epic bowl-positioning matchups are on their way. We can only hope that this season continues on as well as is has already, so let's take a look back at what has happened so far...

Unofficial Week 4 Standings
1. Mizzou (4-0-0) W 3-1 vs GG
2. Oregon (4-0-0) Forfeit win vs BYU
3. Nibraskah (4-0-0) W 3-1 vs Vandy
4. Hawaii (3-0-1) W 2-0 vs Daze
5. Pain (3-1-0) Forfeit win vs Torxas
6. Ucon (3-0-1) W 2-0 vs Buffalo
7. Cal (3-0-1) W 2-0 vs Navy
8. TTech (2-1-1) W 5-0 vs DD
9. GG (2-0-2) L 1-3 vs Mizzou
10. Notre Daze (2-0-2) L 0-2 vs Hawaii
11. Clemson (1-1-2) W 3-0 vs Minni
12. Navy (0-2-2) L 0-2 vs Cal
13. Minni (0-2-2) L 0-3 vs Clemson
14. BYU (1-0-3) Forfeit loss vs Oregon
15. Buffalo (0-1-3) L 0-2 vs UCon
16. Vandy (0-0-4) L 1-3 vs Nib
17. DD Tech (0-0-4) L 0-5 vs Tech
18. Torxas (0-0-4) Forfeit loss vs Pain

Clearly the overall theme of O.o.C. play has been the absolute dominance of the Big Beast conference, who went a combined 17-3-4 during the first four weeks (one win was via forfeit.) One team that got beat by a big beast team (specifically PainState,) was UCon, who are the defending national champions. But ever since that week 1 loss, UCon has won all their games and is back in contention. Their main rival this season will once again be the undefeated Oregon Waterfoul, who look to claim another title (won in season 5.) These two AKC foes play in round 2 of conference play, which is week 6 overall. The Smack 6 has been pretty awful so far, with no clear-cut favorite stepping up. But this also means that any of their teams can make a run over the next five weeks and win a bowl bid.

I've promised some statistical stuff for the past two weeks so it's about time I actually do some research:

Top three offenses:
1. Missouri - 17 total
2. Nibraskah - 15 total
3. Golden Gate - 12 total

Top three defenses:
1a. Missouri - 2 total
1b. PainState - 2 total (3 games)
2a. Nibraskah - 3 total
2b. Hawaii - 3 total

Clearly the TD stats are skewed because of the numerous blowout games featuring the participants, mostly eleven/skaven teams feasting on slower and/or beat-up squads. But Hawaii and Pain make an appearance with strong defensive efforts against solid competition (Hawaii held Oregon to 1 score, and Pain held Ucon to 1 as well,) so perhaps they well continue that stinginess during conference play.

I'd try to figure out the CAS stuff, but it'd be pretty difficult/annoying, so I'll just post some individual leaders here:

Completions: The Mizzou Tiger - 8, Mizzou
Touchdowns: Rondon Bibbs - 7, Mizzou
Casualties: M D Punisher - 6, Clemson
Passer: Desiree Deathlauncher - 29, DD Tech
Rusher: Herger - 89, Nibraskah
Blocker: Trevor Flyton - 47, Cal
Fouler: Brian Coulter - 9, Mizzou

Interesting to see that Mizzou has individual that lead the league in passing, scoring, Spps (not listed, but its Rondon,) and fouling. Guess they really like to run up the score and rub your face in it at the same time. Hopefully they don't turn into the 'U' of the 1980s, cause we'd be in deep trouble!

CBBS Special Report: Conference Previews

With the first four weeks of the season complete, we now move into the conference play part of the season. Many teams have started to separate themselves from the rest of the pack, but just about anyone can turn their season around with a few good games. With that being said, let's take a look at each conference and identify potential key matchups in the next few weeks.

Smack 6 Preview
-The Smack has been less than stellar so far, with only two teams with .500 records or better (Daze and TTech.) But this also means that anyone, including winless Vandy, can rise up and win the conference. Texas Tech has a slight lead to start conference play, currently having a 2-1-1 record, though Notre Daze is right behind them at 2-0-2. Clemson (1-1-2) and BYU (1-0-3) are in the middle, while Buffalo (0-1-3) and Vandy (0-0-4) have some work to do. Buffalo had a rough bowl game + opener, and thus they're stuck rebuilding mid-season, which is tough for anyone to attempt. Vandy is in serious jeopardy of not getting to (and winning) a fourth bowl game, but they have the coaching to potentially turn things around. BYU is the best team TR wise in the conference, but haven't been able to win many games during the past season and a half, though they certainly have the skills to do so. Notre Daze is a bunch of dwarves, which means they'll be tough for people to beat, but not likely to win many games. The Clemson Terrors had a great season last year, despite getting promoted from the Non-AQ into the middle of conference play, but so far they've had fumblidis and a porous defense. Luckily they won't face any elven teams in the next five weeks, so they'll have a good chance to play ball control and get back on the winning track. Last but not least is Texas Tech, who was predicted to be beat to death this season but instead has held up nicely so far. That might change during conference play, as they face mostly bash-oriented teams. That also means they'll be able to win/steal a few games thanks to their gutter runners, though at a great cost.

The most intriguing matchups for the Smack 6 occur in round 5 (Clemson vs TTech, could decide conference winner,) round 4 (Notre Daze vs Tech,) and round 1 (BYU vs Clemson.) With that said, here's our predicted order of finish for the conference (only applies to conference play):

1. Clemson
2. Texas Tech
3. Notre Daze
4. Vandy
5. BYU
6. Buffalo

AKC Preview
-The AKC is going to be fairly predictable, as they have two elite teams (Oregon and UCon,) one team possibly on the rise (Golden Gate,) and three scrubs (Navy, DD Tech, and Torxas, all with no wins.) Oregon has dominated for the most part, including wins over Cal and Hawaii (from the Beast,) as well as a win over Clemson. The Waterfoul also have the best coach and highest TR in the league, so it doesn't look like anyone can stop them. But that's what we said last season, until UCon proved us wrong in the last week of the year, beating them 2-1 and then doing the same to Mizzou and thus winning the National Championship. Although they lost to PainState in the opener, they've pulled off three straight 2-0 wins against sub-par competition (Minni, Vandy, and Buffalo,) and look to be the only AKC team that can challenge Oregon. But Golden Gate looks to prove everyone wrong and establish their place with the big boys in their second season. They started out well at 2-0, but back-2-back losses to Big Beast teams (1-5 to Hawaii, and 1-3 to Mizzou,) have put a hault on their mommentum. Still, there are several winable games in their future, and they just might have enough firepower to hang with UCon + Oregon. But three teams won't challenge them any time soon, that being Navy, DD Tech, and Torxas. None of these teams have won a game yet, though DD has a new coach and enough talent to pick up a conference win or two.

The key AKC matchup, and perhaps they key matchup this entire season, will be the round 2 game between Oregon and UCon. These are two of the most talented teams in the nation, if not the most talented, and the winner of this game is virtually guaranteed an AKC title and perhaps a shot at the national title. Oregon won in season 5, but settled for Rose Bowl wins in the last two seasons, while UCon won last year. Obviously these two teams are comfortable in big games, so it'll be interesting to see who wins this time around. With that said, here's what we think will happen:

1. Oregon
2. UCon
3. GG
4. DD
5. Navy
6. Torxas

Big Beast Preview
-Now onto the most important part of this of this preview, that being the part where we analyze the Beast!!! The conference went an amazing 17-3-4 during O.o.C play, with two of the losses coming to Oregon (by Cal and Hawaii.) But with no less than five of the teams having at least three wins (with two, Mizzou and Nibraskah, being undefeated,) the Beast has no clear cut favorite. Thus the next five weeks should be an all-out war, featuring several rivalry games. Mizzou and Nibraskah (both undefeated,) have blown out several of their opponents, so it'll be interesting to see how they fair against actual teams. Meanwhile PainState pulled off the biggest win in week 1 (and perhaps all of O.o.C. play,) by beating defending-national champion UCon 2-1. Although they tied Texas Tech 1-1, they're still in great position to send out their seniors on top, as long as they can find a way to deal with the numerous spread attacks featured in the Beast. Hawaii and Cal both had a shot to beat Oregon, but both of them fell short. Granted Hawaii was a lot closer, as it was a huge defensive struggle the entire game, until Oregon finally won it with some amazing rolls (not shocking.) Cal should have lost 1-3, but got lucky with some skink passing on the final turn to make it look closer. That leaves Minni, who has had a rough season so far, losing several players. But they're still dangerous and very, very angry.

The key conference games? Well let's turn down the list. Round 1: Pain vs Mizzou, Cal vs Hawaii, and Nib vs Minni. Round 2: Nib vs Mizz, Pain vs Cal, and Hawaii vs Minni. Round 3: Nib vs Pain, Minni vs Cal, and Hawaii vs Mizzou. Round 4: Nib vs Cal, Pain vs Hawaii, Mizz vs Minni. Round 5: Nib vs Hawaii, Pain vs Minni, and Mizz vs Cal. So obviously each and every game is important and critical in the Beast, so we can't wait to see what happens. Of course we have to predict what happens, so here we go:

1. Minni
2. Everyone else

Don't ask us how, but that's whats gonna happen! Good luck to everyone in each of the conferences, and be sure to fluff up some of your games in the forum if you can, especially those rivalry games!
