Hi,

I seem to be seeing more and more coaches on gamefinder who are not on IRC.

Each time I use gamefinder I get swamped with offers for games via PM.

I only accept games via IRC and would encourage every coach to do the same... its where the community is!

I use HydraIRC as my client of choice, but at the minimum click the "CHAT" icon at the top of the fumbbl page for javachat.

So come on newbies, chat it up!

And for those that have issue getting IRC working due to network restrictions beyond their control...

I'm wondering whether IRC usage will fall even further when the gamefinder enhancements go live.

And there are some of us using netbooks without the capabilities to run an irc chat program. SO how bout you get over yourself just try and have some fun cuz that's what this site was created for right? I see way too many blogs whining about stupid stuff like this. Just play and have fun!

And who would want to join a chat room where the new members of the community receive a hostile welcome.

Well, do netbook not allow using websites like mibbit? that is not really a good reason.

If it is really a technical problem only, stating it in you profile might help other coaches know what to expect.

Same goes with too small screens, for which it is a real problem to talk in game (but this is not the subject). State it in your bio, people will not think bad.

There are bad apples everywhere, but in general, this is a welcoming community. I don't know what happened in your case, but IRC generally gives a neutral to friendly welcome, in my experience.

Its not that the netbooks don't allow it. Its that they don't have enough RAM or space required to run the program. I haven't tried that website yet. But i will try it . Thanks for heads up.

I offered to look into this on the other forum topic, however received no response.

Looks like he'd rather troll about it.

I think I can draw a conclussion from this.

Bad apples eh? Must be people similar to those who troll this thread (which is encouraging interaction between coaches).

There is no point what I find to be un welcoming you probably will think other wise so no action will be taken any way so there is no point really taking the matter further and to just leave at that and just use the PM system to find games.
