Glad to hear that! I'm not having much time lately, so perhaps round 4 ReSport will have to wait a few more days (but hey, some of the other divisions haven't even played a single match, so it's hard to pinpoint an out-of-division match of the week).

Western ReSport #4

It was a round for early definitions in the AFC West divisions, with every light shed on the Tangueros-Immortals match. But a disappointing tie between the two aspirants to lead the division complicated things, as a second victory put Bone Chillers back on track towards the play-offs. With only three matches left for this first half, there’s no clear outlook. Will any of these teams get ahead of their peers before round 8? Will they keep burying players while Nuffle laughs?

At Western ReSport we are as eager to know that as our readers. But in the meantime… matches to be played, blood to be spilled, and touchdowns to be scored! All that in the most exciting division of the NWFL League. Join us again next week, to learn everything about AFC West!

Slann Frogcisco 49ers 0 – 1 Alberta Bone Chillers
“I promised them frog legs for dinner”, declared Bone Chiller’s coach to Daily Desert, Alberta’s local newspaper. And he delivered! But only in the second half. Because while during first half the khemri hold the ball and seemed to have everything under control, on turn 6 coach rushed his players forward and opened a chance for the patient frogs, which stopped the tomb guardian carrying the ball. Khemri recovered the ball, but couldn’t march to the endzone and the dead players left the pitch under the grim look of coach Jorj, while his colleague mourned the death of his best blitzer to a foul.

Second half would get bloodier after a riot. 49ers tried to cage, instead of trying their usual forward jumpiness strategy. Unfortunately for them, Bone Chillers went forward to force the cage open and as soon as the ballcarrier was unprotected, their blitzer took him out. Soon followed three casualties in two turns and the match was decided with no more trouble for Alberta, as the remaining frogs failed all their attempts.

Alberta fans now see their chances at play offs reviving and hope to strengthen them against Koskun Fall Immortals.

Butte Kickers 2 – 0 Maine Manic Monkeys
Trouble started early for Maine, when their recently hired chainsaw maniac Helmut knocked himself out while handling that heavy machinery. They soon tried a long pass and failed, and soon afterwards a series of unlucky bounces left the ball right in the midst of chaotic Kickers. Butte then secured the ball and slowly streamed forward to their first td, dominating the field with their more skilled players. What chaos didn’t expect was a wizard coming their way, taking down their most forward beastmen and even killing the fast and agile Gas Face Gus. Still, they manage to score on turn 7.

Second half already meant trouble for the Manic Monkeys, outgunned (even after leading the cas count during the whole first half) and facing Kickers’ drive. Chaos quickly took a monkey and Mighty Zug from the pitch and after another self inflicted chainsaw, they proceeded to secure the ball while decimating the newcomers. Turn 5 started with no ready Monkeys and match was over.

Round 5 will see Kickers going for their fifth win against St. Paul Apostles and Maine Manic Monkeys try again against Green Back orcs.

B.Aires Tangueros 1 – 1 Koskun Falls Immortals
Tangueros and Immortals were pursuing the lead in the AFC West division, already tied in points and very even in the cas and td department. A victory here would have set one of them in a clear path towards play-offs, but both were disappointed. Definitions will have to wait until the second part of the tournament, when they meet again. First half quickly went southwards for B.Aires, suffering a blitz. They managed to recover the ball and caged up northfield, but not being able to inflict pain, they allowed Koskun to mount a sound defense. So sound that it even maimed pacters’ skaven. Thus, they eventually managed to held Tangueros far away from td zone.

Humans hurried a touchdown at the start of second half, but coach Palorrin would lament that. “Match got back to normal as soon as Tangueros killing machine started working”, he would declare during the post-match press conference. After scoring on turn 2, humans let pacters regain their feet and tie the score. But not before B.Aires suffered another blitz and said goodbye to two dead players. This new encounter between Kalessin and Palorrin was as bloody as usual, much to the fans joy.

Up next, Tangueros will face the only team in the group that has mourned more dead players: the decimated Slann Frogcisco 49ers. Koskun will have to deal with the td-thirsty Maine Manic Monkeys.

St. Paul Apostles 1 – 1 Green Back Smackers
Apostles found themselves in a tough spot against the sturdy orcs, but they play beyond their expectations and managed a worthy tie. Things started as expected for Smackers, knocking out rotters and pushing forward, but nurglites forced and early td and things suddenly looked bright for St. Paul. Good fortune wouldn’t last much for them, as Perfect Defense granted some upper hand for the orcs. Apostles broke the green barrier on turn 7 and a not-that-lucky-in-the-end series of one-diced blocks couldn’t stop them from scoring after a skull open a path.

Unfortunately for Apostles, they couldn’t repeat the trick on second half. They started well, pushing forward and landing blocks, but inexplicably, they couldn’t maintain momentum. Orcs blitzed well a far away ballcarrier on turn 3 and clumsiness from both sides ensued for several turns. No one could grab the ball or hold it for more than a turn and time ran off before any attempt to the endzone could be made.

Round five well have Apostles visiting the only team in the league that has won every match played this season: Butte Kickers. Smackers will face Maine Manic Monkeys.

Out of division match of the week
Charleston Sharks (NFC South) 0 – 1 Tamper Bay Baconeers (NFC South)

“Who’s orcs and who’s flings?!”, asked coach Mr. Nomad, while watching his orcs falling prey to some very nasty Halfling bashing. Wait, what? Halflings bashing orcs? Oh, hell yeah. It was the little ones that went all lordofthering on the greenskins, taking out for good not one, but three orcs in one turn, scaling the odds fast on turn 2. A well placed lightning by their favorite wizard allowed the little fellows to recover the ball at turn 3. They played safe from that point onward, but didn’t chance a full forward charge and first half ended with no touchdowns as things turn –as described by coach Stimme- “insane” while players forgot rivals diving tackle, leagues rules on right stuff and tackle and orcs suffered another casualty, this time a fatal one.

For second half Halflings got the numeric advantage and pushed forward in that fashion, while Bronco the rootless held the ball. Alas, Bronco wouldn’t be that “rootless” and eventually planted itself barely upfield and had to handle the ball to his little fellow Olivier Garden, who ran towards an opponent-barren side of the field and managed the endzone by turn 8. The few orcs remaining couldn’t tie it up.

This was so far Baconeers’ only win, after straight loses, while Sharks let pass a chance to lead their group.

I wouldn't want to offend OTS! He's not only the league manager, but I'll have to face him after this round!

But I can promise not to be too... colourful about how he vivisected your team (which was awful to saw, btw, I watched that live).

As painful as that was to play, I can't imagine how bad it was to watch. Like I said in the chat, even with 400k in inducements I felt our teams were worlds apart. At least my beast got the MVP......yay?

MVP on the Beast is always YAY. Except, perhaps, if he just got a niggling injury or the like. Not the case, so... YAY! Just keep them going on, you'll soon have a terrific team. You're just half a dozen skills away from it.

Western ReSport #5

Ties keep plaguing the Auld World Conference western division. Once again, B.Aires Tangueros and Koskun Falls Immortals failed to win their respective matches and let pass a great chance to take the lead of the division. Who’s to blame? Failed pass were the actual star of this round. Only the Alberta Bone Chillers benefited from this results, as they now stand just two points behind and see their chances at play-offs renewed. Slann Frogcisco 49ers, meanwhile, continues its struggle to rebuild the team, while salvaging a point.

Meanwhile, in the cross-conference Butte Kickers keeps their undefeated streak and now leads the whole league with 10 points: a perfect score after five rounds this season. Will Kickers become AFC judge? They’ll meet both Tangueros and Immortals last two rounds of this first half, and the outcome of those matches may be crucial for the division leaders’ aspirations for the post-regular season.

Tension rises as each round passes and no team gets a clear lead. But it’s not an AFC West exclusive phenomena: official standings released by the NWFL officials show no clear leads, aside from Kickers and Har Ganeth Korsairs in the AFC North, and even then, dark elves have benefited from two forfeited matches. Will they sustain their lead in the rounds ahead? Learn that in the following issues of Western ReSport!

Slann Frogcisco 49ers 1 – 1 B.Aires Tangueros
Coach CW told his defend the endzone, and even brought a second apothecary just in case, to keep at bay the injuries that have been plaguing his team as of late. Strategy worked out well, even if Tangueros didn’t give much of a chance for blitzes on the ballcarrier. But this time Kalessin’s pacters lacked any serious punch and the team was full with clumsy moves. Newcomer powerhouse Cucuza Castiello, of good moves last few matches, was helpless and even granted the frogs a couple turnovers. First half ended with a late touchdown for Tangueros, that scored through a sturdy defense that included a wizard’s fireball on turn 7.

Second half would be more interesting in terms of plays. Frogs caged in the middle and Tangueros put some pressure on them. 49ers answered with a few well selected blocks and moved forward, only to be rapidly surrounded by their opponents. A run for the endzone left super star Jerry Rice in the floor, after pushing too much to get there. Respite wouldn’t last long for Tangueros: feeling confident, they prepared a pass and cage formation. But the pass was intercepted by rookie Roger Craig. A block later, Craig himself sealed the score. Five turns weren’t enough for B.Aires, that couldn’t break their opponents’ defense.

49ers will meet St. Paul Apostles nurglites next, while round 6 means a dreaded match versus unbeaten Butt Kickers for Tangueros.

Alberta Bone Chillers 1 – 1 Koskun Falls Immortals
Humans found themselves quickly pressured by the Bone Chillers, who grabbed the iniciative and charged taking out a blitzer even before the ball landed on the ground. But in turn 2, Koskun recovered it’s feet, even if not by punching lots of skeletons. Instead, they blitzed the forward blitz-ra and took him out. After that, even the failed pick up meant there was no risk of immediately losing the ball. Humans took the lines, but khemri recovered ground soon. Immortal managed to screen its catcher safe passage deep into Alberta’s field and stalled to score in turn 6, fearing tomb guardians retaliation. Three turns weren’t enough to score for the khemris and they’d had to wait until second half.

Immortals’ kick off went right into khemri’s endzone, opening the field to imaginative attempts. It seemed it would indeed made things complicated for the Bone Chillers after a failed block led three humans to chase their ballcarrier. But khemri were lucky enough to catch a bounce, even after they failed a pass. But that wouldn’t suffice, as humans blitzed free the ball, grab it and run for… another failed pass.It looked that they would control the ball, but Alberta’s players recovered their feet and the ball on turn 7, to score on turn 8.

Next round Bone Chillers will face orcish Green Back Smackers and Koskun will go for the win against Maine Manic Monkeys, who are yet to gain a single point this season.

Butte Kickers 3 – 0 St. Paul Apostles
“I won’t be the first one to fall under three tds against you!!”, screamed coach Charlie to his fellow OTS, soon after Butte Kickers had scored for the second time. Unfortunately for him, marauders would prove him wrong in what resulted as a one-sided bloodbath between these two chaos gods worshippers teams. In the end, Kickers inflicted six severe injuries (some of them even on the same players) and made Apostles clearly understand the concept of “near-death experience” twice.

Apostles tried their best, but weren’t a match against the more experienced chaos players. Even tough they managed to put down the chaos ballcarrier when he tried to block the big beast, they couldn’t get momentum to hold the ball. Eventually Kickers scored near the end of half one. In the second half they put their superior numbers to good use and profited from an early blitz, dominating the field and rapidly taking out even more nurgle players. By turn 4 Kickers led the score 2-0 and outmanned their rivals by six players. A full frontal assault allowed them to end the match with a new touchdown.

Up next Kickers will try to keep their perfect score this season versus B.Aires Tangueros, while Apostles will try to brighten things up against the also beaten Slann Frogcisco 49ers.

Maine Manic Monkeys 0 – 3 Green Back Smackers
Things started well for the monkeys. They punched forward and even chainsawed an opponent into the ko box, while passing the ball to a screened chimpanzee. It looked like a quick score, but orcs surrounded the monkey cluster, and tough they couldn’t free the ball, they locked it. Then things started to fall apart for Maine: blocks didn’t work out and when the ballcarrier tried to break free, he met skulls and let the ball loose. A few blocks later, black orc Sigmar catched a bounce and Smackers started their way towards the win.

Second half started with a gorilla and star player Furious George in the bench, while Green Back smacked their way forward. By this point coach Miyuso was already thinking he has hired the most overpriced Halfling cuisine chef around. Orcs passed ahead, and tough Crimsonwolf let the ball go, he’d grab it at the next opportunity. The following turn he handed the ball to his teammate Kalessin, who was waiting in the endzone. A deep kick complicated things further for the Manic Monkeys, as it forced them to a long pass to avoid getting cornered. But reception failed, orcs regained the ball and darted forward to score yet again in turn 8.

Green Back will now face the enthusiastic Alberta Bone Chillers and Manic Monkeys will meet Koskun Falls Immortals on the field.

Out of division match of the week
White Rock Midnight (AFC East) 0 – 1 Cordoba Fernets (AFC East)

With second half of the season a few weeks from now, it’s time for AFC West fans to start turning their heads toward East, were the newcomer necromantic team surprisingly leads the scoreboard, having won four out of their first five matches. Last of those was against the defending champion, White Rock Midnight. Clever play, good use of inducements and no small amount of luck granted coach Pucho and his heavy drinkers a key victory in their road to play-offs.

By turn 4 of the first half, score seemed certain for the midnighters: they had their ballcarrier in deep, with no necro in reach. They also had enough players to screen him for at least two more turns. But they got overconfident and star blitzer Bronovich failed a dodge. A custard pie distracted their witch and his lordship Count Luthor von Drakenborg seized his chance at the ballcarrier and grabbed the ball. A new failed dodge and two bad blocks allowed the Count to to freely handle the ball to the team’s werewolf, who then scored the sole touchdown of the match.

During second half dark elves put heavy forward pressure. They stopped cold the necro’s offense and were close to make a touchdown of their own when they slipped the ball free on turn 4. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t find their own shoelaces. Fernets recovered possession a turn later. Elves would free and grab the ball once more, but a desperate last turn blitz with zombie Capri stripped them off that last chance.[/b]

Western ReSport #6

Tension keeps mounting in the AFC West division. After several weeks finding only ties, division leaders Koskun Falls Immortals and B.Aires Tangueros finally returned to winning. Humans got a big score. Tangueros succeeded against a fearsome opponent, and tough they have lost yet another valuable member of their team (five deaths in ten matches, not counting some severe injuries that lead to some retirement), their win might prove a key one if Immortals can’t equal their feat against the NWF West division leader : Butte Kickers.

Slann Frogcisco 49ers 0 – 2 St. Paul Apostles
After some struggle, St. Paul finally got it’s first actual win in the season. It was against Slann Frogcisco 49ers, who are still going through a hard time. First half started with a riot that sent the clock forward while Apostles waited for the slanns with their pestigors back. A hurried foul soon left Frogcisco without a player and a suffering turnover with the ball unpicked, but nurgle couldn’t take advantage of the situation, finding no pows. It wasn’t until the third turn that Apostles find a chance to blitz superstar Jerry Rice and managed to take him out, tough a good apothecary patched him up. After some struggle, St. Paul grabbed the ball on turn 6. Thus, Porous the XIII –already with two cas– cemented the road to his best match ever.

Second half would be hard for slann, being two players down and with no possession of the ball. Even worse, nurglites would wound a lineman in their first block, and a quick turnover soon put the whole team to the ground. St. Paul caged up and steadily advanced to victory, while 49ers suffered even more skulls. They even went for a last drive, five men up, but another riot left little time to anything but a desperate try for the slanns, that didn’t succeed, thanks to a timely interception by a journeyman.

Next round 49ers will meet a heavy bash team in the form of the Green Back Smackers, while Apostles will have to deal with the rising Alberta Bone Chillers.

Alberta Bone Chillers 1 – 2 Green Back Smackers
Things started ok for Bone Chillers, pulling some punches through, although they couldn’t harm any orcs. In turn, Smackers did put some pressure and took out a few opponents, including a tomb guardian and a blit-ra, who didn’t regenerated. Soon things went south for Alberta and when blitzer Kalessin picked up the ball and run forward, coach Jorj knew orcs would end the half one touchdown up in the score.

For second half Bone Chillers formed with their tomb guardians deep in their own field, avoiding confrontation. Thus, Green Back went on full assault mode and quickly scored on turn 4, perhaps trying for a 3-0 result. But the khemris recovered and made a td of their own when they open a hole in the orcish defense that commited a little too much to pressure on thro-ra Maigre. A timely blitz free him, the handed the ball of and Tyrla could score on turn 6. Another riot (there were tons this round, seems like) left no time for further plays.

Round seven Bone Chillers will try to get more points against St. Paul Apostles, while Smackers will try to gain ground towards the play-offs versus Slann Frogcisco 49ers.

Butte Kickers 0 – 1 B.Aires Tangueros
Surprising match for everyone. Sure thing, most of the audience was expecting a heavily injured team coming out of the field with a narrow loss. And it was like that, only that the beaten up one wasn’t the fragile Tangueros (that suffered some loses of their own, anyway), but the more killing chaos. In the end, it was a victory for B.Aires that might prove key to qualify to play-offs. But first half started hard for them, as they had to suffer an early blitz that put them off-balance. Turn 4 was key to Tangueros, when a series of casualties allowed them to restore balance to the field and prevent Kickers to get the ball. Following that, Piazzolla dodge to safety, but recklessly stalled and a failed dodge denied Tangueros their score.

Second half looked dire for Tangueros, but lack of punch from Butte on the first few blocks allowed them to form well and a foul took a clawpomber from Kickers. A failed dodge of their own left chaos with even less players, and that was followed by even more casualties. Finally, on turn 3 Gardelito blitzed and knocked out Larson the claw. Tangueros dominated the field and slowly grinded their opponents to score on turn 8. This was Kickers’ first loss in the last two regular seasons.

Tangueros will close this half of the tournament against Maine Manic Monkeys. Kickers will try to shake this blow off facing the promising Koskun Falls Immortals

Maine Manic Monkeys 1 – 5 Koskun Falls Immortals
League’s results pressured the Immortals for a win if they wanted to keep track of their fellow teams at the AFC West division. And they did win. It was an outstanding result: 5-1 to keep growing. The amazing performance started soon enough. On turn 2, a forward catcher, Alita, blitzed down the stronger Manic orangutan, grab the ball and went for the early score. After that is was mostly downhill for Maine, that suffered Immortals’ perfect defenses, casualties, interceptions and their own skulls. By turn 4 Koskun already won 2-0. By mid-game, it was already 3-0, after Motoko managed to free himself from Manic’s orangutan.

Match was already over but one half still had to be played. Once again, humans aggressively moved forward, limiting their less evolved cousins options. And tough Maine actually managed to hurt a few of them, they still couldn’t stopped the unrelentless play by Koskun Falls. Humans pulled their last touchdown after a failed sprint from the monkey blitzer. They invaded Maine’s field, and when the Luke Loucks, the orangutan, couldn’t secure the ball, they picked it up and scored once more. By then, the score by Manic Monkeys was just a matter of pride.

Monkeys will now meet B.Aires Tangueros for their last match against an AFC team, while Immortals will try to hold their ground on the standings against the powerful Butte Kickers.

Out of division match of the week
Venice Bubonic Plague (NWF South) 0 – 3 Buenos Aires
Titans (AFC South)
Titans didn’t miss their mighty tree when facing the Bubonic Plague nurglites. In fact, they managed to inflict more casualties than their stronger opponents that could maintain superior numbers only thanks to their regeneration powers. Woodies swarmed the ball at any opportunity to score again and again. First half could’ve ended even, when after the early Titans’ touchdown they made a few clumsy moves, but Venice couldn’t turn momentum into scoring. In the end, it was just 1-0 for the argentinian coach at the end of first half.

Second half coach Papajeano tried a wide defense, but still Gargangel sent his players onward, opening paths. He even managed to stall a few turns, before scoring on turn 4. But on the new drive, once again nurglites found their lines too separated. Buenos Aires took advantage from that, secured their position and once again swarmed the ballcarrier. It ended 3-0 and now Titans lead their division, followed closely, one point behind, by Sutherlands’ Joplin Disasters.

Next installment of Western ReSport won’t feature the Out of division match of the week section. Instead, our readers will find a detailed analysis of how standings are for the AFC Conference, when regular season reaches its midterm. Until next week, NWFL fans!

Following the brutalizing by the Butte Kickers, the coach of the Koskun Falls Immortals released a press statement. "I am personally offering a case of beer to any player who seriously injures a player of the Butte Kickers. Two if it's a permanent injury. And 10 cases for every head delivered to my desk. Go get them. I have a lot of cases set aside for anyone who wants it." Coach Palorrin was visibly upset, a mixture of sorrow and anger. While the Immortals will not face the Kickers again in the regular season, they obviously want a measure of revenge.

Western ReSport #7
Midseason is here and Western ReSport brings you a through recap of the seventh round, with a special focus on the violent match suffered by Koskun Falls Immortals, as well as a in-deep analysis of how standings are at this point. So, fewer words in this introduction, more NWFL’s bloodbowl right away!

Slann Frogcisco 49ers 2 – 1 Green Back Smackers
49ers closed a difficult first half of the season with a win against Green Back Smackers. Slann Frogcisco started on the receiving end, but Smackers couldn’t decide which way to go and super star Jerry Rice found his way for a perfect blitz that freed the ball in the midfield. When Smackers couldn’t take him down in turn, and much less grab the ball, Fangbanger knew his orcs were in trouble. Rice managed to leap, pick up the ball and dodge away from the greenskinned that surrounded the ball. Once again, orcs could not stop him and 49ers went 1-0 up. Orcs came back in a fury, punching a hole, but a well aimed dirty bomb let the ball loose. It could’ve mean trouble for Smackers, but Jerry Rice tripped while escaping with the ball and it was needed an apothecary intervention to keep him in game. Orcs felt the touchdown at hand, but a new bomb and a wizard made them lose their feet once more. They could only score on turn 8, as Crimsonwolf passed the ball to Kalessin. First half ended with a severe injury to black orc Sigmar.

With the score tied, early blitz seemed to turn the result for the orcs, who forced a scrum to dispute the ball. But then injuries started coming for them. First, after a mean foul. Then, after a block that took superstar Burgnutz out of the field. Finally, Rice run for safety again and waited to score on turn 5. Four turns were enough for the orcs to draw the match, as a perfect defense first and god screening afterwards put them in trouble. Last nail in their coffin was a new blitz by Jerry Rice that freed the ball next to the sidelines. The subsequent rebound dropped the ball far from the Smackers. It wasn’t a new touchdown for the frogs, only because their blitzer failed his pass.

Alberta Bone Chillers 1 – 1 St. Paul Apostles
Crowd entered the stadium with a violent disposition. Even before the match has started, a rock hauled from the audience impacted tomb guardian Un gros, and his mighty undead powers couldn’t prevent his definite demise. Bone Chillers will miss him sorely for the second half of the tournament. During the very first turns of the match, it seemed that every hit was a regenerated death and skulls were all over the place. In the process, Apostles defended solidly and stole the ball to score on turn 8. Unfortunately for them, while stalling, khemri mounted the body count, taking out two pestigors and one warrior.

Having a full squad, even if not their full strength, against only seven nurglites proved a boon for the Bone Chillers, and thus the match slipped away from St. Paul grasp. Sure enough, Apostles did it’s best to secure the ball: pressure on the LOS and tried to hide behind a meat wall. But a key failed block by their big beast put them in severe trouble, with their ballcarrier surrounded by undead. Indeed, not only he would be taken down, but taken out of the field. Alberta was finally able to score on turn 6, but preferred to stall until the last minute, to avoid nasty surprises.

Butte Kickers 1 – 0 Koskun Falls Immortals
Yet to be confirmed rumors stated that Kickers’ coach, OTS, whipped his players all week after their first loss in two regular seasons. It seems that both it’s beastmen and chaos warriors felt the sting of the whip, as they brutally harassed the humans in front of them, unleashing all their abuse potential. End result doesn’t reflect accurately what happened in the field, where Butte completely outmanned Koskun Falls.

At first, it was business as usual: humans kicked deep and chaos started punching forward, but not too hard. Koskun screened a few feet back from their opponents and even seemed to have the upper hand in blocks. They even managed a blitz on the chaos ballcarrier on turn 3, releasing the ball. First casualty didn’t get to the field until turn 4. But on the next turn, humans would gain the ball close to their own endzone. Fearing to be whipped again, chaos slashed back, smashing catcher Mokoto’s knee. Blood started to wash the field. Surprisingly enough, chaos couldn’t grab the ball and humans even managed to pass it forward, but a new defensive blitz killed the human ball carrier. Half ended with four less players for Immortals, but with no touchdown for Kickers.

Second half was even bloodier. Alphonze, Koskun’s ogre quickly avenged his fallen comrade and killed in turn Blogharth. It seemed like Palorrin’s protégées would at least score, but Butte forced them to switch flanks and delayed them. Inexplicably, on turn 4 Koskun stalled their score. That decision was crucial, as a beastman managed to break free, blitz and injure the ballcarrier. After that, every turn seemed to take out one or two humans from the pitch. On turn 8, Charnel Bloodmask delivered the final blow, taking the ball to Koskun’s endzone.

Filled with rage, coach Palorrin promised beer to anyone who would bring harm to Butte Kickers’ players, that brough 11 of his own players to the hospital. “I am personally offering a case of beer to any player who seriously injures a player of the Butte Kickers”, we was quote by Koskun’s PR department. “Two cases if it’s a permanent injury and 10 for every head delivered to my desk”, he added. Other coaches were worried about this. Sure thing, beer might motivate their own players, but what about the hangover for the following match?

B.Aires Tangueros 2 – 0 Maine Manic Monkeys
With a solid match, Tangueros took yet another step towards the play-offs. Sure thing, they have the crowd support from the very beginning, as fans threw rocks at simyin’s players. Although their firepower wasn’t at their best, they managed to continually knock out Maine’s players, thus enjoying certain amount of comfort in the field. First half ended without notable events: no casualties for either side and the expected touchdown for the pacter team.

With even numbers and possession, Manic Monkeys could’ve tied the match, but luck wasn’t with them. They marched forward and prepare to pass on turn 2, but B.Aires quickly marked downfield and forced several scrums. Maine actually broke free, but Taylor couldn’t catch the ball passed by Luke Loucks and Tangueros swarmed to recover the ball. An unfortunate turnover gave ample opportunities to the pacters, but a blitz by Helmut Wulf ended up with a wounded Ignacio Varchausky and the ball loose close to the line. After that, Tangueros went full throttle on killing, taking out several monkeys from the field. A few dodges later, they reclaimed the ball, screened afterwards and secure the road to a 2-0.

Mid season recap – What lies ahead for AFC Conference teams?
After seven rounds played trends start to appear in each division of the AFC Conference. All four of them have a leader followed closely by the second at only one or two points. With official standings yet to be released by NWFL authorities, Western ReSport statistics show that the best teams of the conference so far are argentinians Titans and Tangueros, both leading their divisions (South and West) at 11 points.

In the North division Night Lizards lead with 10 points. Korsairs follow them closely, and in truth, there hasn’t been much difference between the two of them. Korsairs has won the match between the two, but has also suffered several non-played matches. Of four forfeits, coach Ryanfitz’s team has earned two wins and two losses. Roadtoad’s players have only enjoyed one such match. Tip for second half: pay attention to Crewe Railroader’s. They have 7 points and could surprise the leaders of their division.

In the south, Titans lead and Disasters follow way, way ahead from Masquerade and Brown Outs. Unless something extraordinary happens, the two of them should get seats in the play-offs, at least as a wild card.

Going east, newcomer team Cordoba Fernets leads the division with 9 points, ahead from league’s veteran coaches like KeggieMcKill and defending champion Licker. NorthWest Walking Brawls (far away from home, it seems!) have 8 points, while White Rock Midnight had only 5 by Western ReSport’s deadline, with one match still to be played. Second half of the season should be fierce for these teams, as they struggle to get to play-offs. Even if the aspire to a wild card seat, they’ll have to overcome not only the other teams in their own divisions, but strong candidates in the South and the West. Which leads to...

... the western division of the AFC Conference, which you readers of Western ReSport have been following closely. Here Tangueros’ have the lead, with 11 points and two ahead of the second seed, Koskun Falls Immortals. Facing a myriad of teams with very different formations this second half, it’s a mystery if B.Aires will be able to hold the difference against Koskun. Even failing that, a decent performance should allow them to gain a seat for the second time in its short history in the elimination round of the NWFL.

Next week: round 8!

White Rock actually has 9 points too.

Though we only played 5 games because of other teams being too scared to face us.

In any case, this season is a waste for White Rock, I can only hope the 2nd half has more people willing to play us :p
