I watch the match live and I know that pass did protect the ball, but I quoted the dialogue nonetheless because it shows how frustrating that match went for your opponent.

Ah is that why you said I was doing "anything but". The first two turnovers were from a 5+ dodge and a 5+ pass. Not much you should really expect from that

Oh, no, no. I wrote: "his Disasters were anything but that" meaning that your disasters weren't honoring their team name. They actually managed great Wink

This really was the "best revenge campaing ever", like OTS said. Tough I tend to think you actually cursed him, or at least the Butte Kickers. I'm scared what you could do to the rest of us! :O

Ok, sure: some important matchs of the 13th round have already been played and now Titans and Midnight lead the scoreboard with 20 points (and one more match than Arizona). But I wanted to keep a little bit of mystery feeling in the write-up.

Western ReSport 12 will come soon enough, I hope.

In the meantime, hope you enjoy this one!

Western ReSport #11
Round 12 showed some strange developments in the NWFL - AWC West division and in the whole conference as well. The most important news for the fans is that B.Aires Tangueros lost their leading position in the conference after securing qualification to play-offs last round. Nuffle decreed an unexpected defeat against fellow argentinian team Cordoba Fernets. In the meantime, White Rock cemented its leadership on the East division, while Buenos Aires Titans and Arizona Night Lizards did the same on the South and the North.

As a matter of fact, after these results, Arizona leads the conference with 19 points, while there’s a triple tie in the runner up spot of the scoreboard, with Midnight, Titans and Tangueros all at 18 points. Last two rounds can bring almost anything to the play-offs seats. Keep up with the news here, at Western ReSport!

Koskun Falls Immortals X – X Alberta Bone Chillers
First of the two matches forfeited this round. Alberta’s absence gave Koskun two important points for their aspirations to reach the play-offs of this season. Ahead, Palorrin’s team will have to deal with the long missing North West Walking Brawls and the defending champion White Rock Midnight, which has returned to the victorious path this second half of the tournament.

B.Aires Tangueros 0 – 3 Cordoba Fernets
Tangueros’ fans were astonished as Cordoba swept through their defenses over and over again, managing to outmaneuver B.Aires, a team that’s shown some eastgoing but effective defense the previous 11 matches of the tournament. With this result, there’re no more undefeated teams this season. What’s more, Tangueros lost conference leadership. First half Cordoba started with possession. A greedy frenzied block put both a werewolf and a ghoul next to the sidelines, and out the field they went on B.Aires next turn. But Kalessin’s players got greedy and an untimely last block resulted in a turnover and a ko that opened a path for the necromantic argentinians. After knocking out the minotaur the following turn, Cordoba caged and slowly grinded upfield. Tangueros tried to stop them, but injuries kept taking out their players and with no clear shot at the ballcarrier, Cordoba confidently scored on turn 8.

Second half would be worse for Tangueros. Already slightly outmanned, they weren’t able to rapidly take out of the match any of Cordoba’s greatest assets. Coach Kalessin couldn’t find a way through the meat wall that proposed fellow argentinian coach Pucho, whom in a daring blitz took the ball from the elven ballcarrier in the first of a series of good ball bounces. Fernets reached the endzone for the second time on turn 3, and a blitz the following drive limited the options from Tangueros. Cordoba kept pushing Tangueros’ lines, and found a week spot on turn 6, even if their wizard wasn’t as accurate as expected. After that, all was set for the subsequent score.

Tangueros will face defending champion White Rock Midnight next, while Cordoba will try to continue the winning streak against Slann Frogcisco 49ers.

Saphery Poets X – X North West Walking Brawls
Poets had a lot of time to write their verses this week, as coach Keggie is still missing from the NWFL with no new on when he’ll be returning. Thus, newcomer Saphery gets some more points to show his fans, tough surely his coach would prefer the insight that a tough competition would give to his player’s moves. Ahead lies a strange path for Saphery: Bone Chillers next round and the newcomer sensation Cordoba Fernets, that’ll be trying its last shots for qualifying to the playoffs.

Slann Frogcisco 49ers 0 – 2 White Rock Midnight
White Rock imposed their players’ superior quality to achieve a major step forward to solidify their qualification at play-offs. Nuffle wouldn’t help 49ers, and as their very first turn, their chainsaw wielder would knock himself out. Dark elves, then, slowly started their advance. Two ko’s and a surprisingly ineffective wizard later, midnighter’s screened next to the endozne. A blitz freed the ball and took out its carrier, but elves quickly recovered and easily stalled until the last second.

Next half Frogcisco would make a fatal error early on as they left their ballcarrier way too close to their teammates. Elves opened a spot in the defense, rushed forward and stripped the ball from Jerry Rice’s hands. White Rock recovered the ball and caged back, and when a froggy journeyman caused a turnover, they seized the chance to dart forward. In a duel of clever outmaneuverings, elves finally got the upper hand over their opponents and scored on turn 6. Two turns weren’t enough for the frogs, even if the elves’ strongest would wait next to their own endzone.

Round 7 will see 49ers against Cordoba Fernets and Midnight trying their returning fortune against B.Aires Tangueros.

Out of division match-of-the-week
Charleston Sharks (NWC South) 1 – 0 R’lyeh Regulars (NWC North)
This wasn’t a match with many touchdowns, that’s for sure, but it was as bloodier as it can get. Orcs got possession under a powerful snowstorm and punched forward with decision. After three consecutive fouls, Nameless find the weak spot on Old One’s neck and sent him to the afterlife. The apothecary rushed to the field, and that probably meant the undoing for the chaotic team. Sure enough, Old One was brought back, but in the turns to come, the apo’s medicines would be sorely missed while the body count piled up. Tiger escaped with the ball, but his teammates couldn’t cover him and a beastman found a way to put him down and free the ball. With four turns left to play and one more player in the field, orcs managed to recove the ball and, this time, keep it until help came. But with the reinforcement also came opponents, that hurted Tiger out of the field. Retaliation would be fierce on turn 8 and Dreamer would be killed, the ball picked up and the score done.

A quick-witted defense put chaos players in trouble, as the ball fell right next to the midfield and the greenskins swarmed it. Nomad’s players seized the chance and put down several opponents with a single fireball. Indeed, they pressured and defied the slippery floor, still covered with snow to grab the ball. R’lyed blitzed to recover it, but their failure also came with a severe blow: Benchwarmer won’t be sorely missed in the changing rooms. Word is his stench was disgusting to both opponents and comrades alike. How comes Charleston didn’t score again? That’s a mystery the team’s fans would love to understand. Truth is orcs continued to stall and even killed yet another beastman, the most agile Drummer. What’s more, chaos wasn’t even bothering with the ball, but kicking legs and heads in the middle-field scrum (with some success, that’s to be said). By the end of turn five, there was only one chaos warrior that could’ve reached the ballcarrier. But orcs didn’t score and instead let Fhtagn to blitz, hurt the ballcarrier and recover possession. It wasn’t enough for their own score, but prevented a bulkier defeat.

Playoff picture for the AWC!

I know you're excited! I'm excited, even Painstate is excited and he's not even in this league!

Here's where the AWC stands going into the last week of play. 5 teams trying to grab the last 3 spots! Here is how it shakes out.
AWC East
X-White Rock 20 (22)
Cordoba 17 (19)
out
North West
Saphery

AWC North
X-arizona 21 (23)
Crewe 15 (17)
out
Kar'illsbad 12 (14)
Manscape 13 (15)

AWC South
Titans 20 (22)
Disasters 18 (20)
Out
N'Varlinz
Barak Varr

AWC West
X-Tangueros 20 (done)
Koskun falls 17 (19)
out
alberta
slann frog

X = locked in as division winner
points (points possible)
Out = better luck next season.

As you all can see there is a lot riding on the last week in the AWC. even those of you that are out can play the spoiler role going into the playoffs. A turn 16 foul on that ballcarrier could pay dividends for you next season.

Well, I missed a week of play and there won't be a report for rounds 13 and 14. Instead, I decided to write a play-offs special for the conference. Hope you enjoy it anyway (and if you want to read how Licker swept'd the floor with my Tangueros, he wrote a great report in the match's summary).

**

Western ReSport – Pre Play-offs bloodspecial
Last round of the NWFL’s regular season was somewhat disappointing for many fans, that couldn’t watch their favorite teams struggle in the field for one last time. In the Auld World Conference only half of the matchs scheduled for the 14th week of the tournament were actually played. And in the East vs. West line-up, only one: Koskun Falls Immortals vs. White Rock Midnight, a match in which humans missed their last chance to qualify to play-offs, while dark elves cemented their supremacy this second half of the tournament.

The rest of the matches were forfeited. B.Aires Tangueros received the points for the absence of coach Keggie McKill and his North West Walking Brawls, and thus earned the fourth seed in the AWC play-offs. Cordoba Fernets got the upper hand from tournament officials against the returning Saphery Poets and marginally got the last wild card spot. Meanwhile, Slann Frogcisco 49ers ended with a bureaucratic win against Alberta Bone Chillers.

As a result, this special issue of Western ReSport brings the fans detailed information on the qualified teams that will fight for the AWC crown.

Make your bets and bring your rocks!

Arizona Night Lizards: this lizardmen quietly ascended to the first place of the conference, with a series of steady wins. Arizona bases its play on clever positioning, quick strikes to steal the ball and a multitude of skinks. The leader of the conference exhibits a surprisingly high TV for very few overall skills in its players, both the little lizards and the big sauri. So far coach Roadtoad has been successful with this strategy. Will a bad, injury-plagued match conspire against his aspirations?

Buenos Aires Titans: these argentinian elves jump all over the place, doing that elfy stuff their fans love. It’s in this fashion that they have managed to be runner-ups in the conference, winning the tie-breaker against the also-elven and defending champion White Rock because of their sheer touchdown power. Titans enjoy a few highly skilled players, but are plagued by injuries. What’s more, their cunning coach Gargangel doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice any of his players to advance in the tournament. This might prove key to get to the next round, but could be the undoing for the future of the team.

White Rock Midnight: defending champion Licker started the season low, but earned 13 points in the second half of the tournament to grant his team the third seed in the play-offs. Thus, dark elves get to play-offs with a worthy winning streak, tough a rough path is ahead. Limited numbers is a weakness for this team, that can’t withstand the loss of many players. If their key stars are neutralized, Midnight has no plan B to fill in the spots. Still, a single of those elves can win a match on their own.

B.Aires Tangueros: while other teams leveled their play up in the second half of the season, the pact team experienced just the opposite. They relegated leadership of the conference and ended up in the fourth seed of play-offs. Tangueros missed many points in the first half due to unexpected ties, and when they lost in the second, they lost hard. If Nuffle or poor coaching skills are to blame for this will be seen soon enough. It’s the second team with less TV in the play-offs. Most opponents find it difficult to understand its tactic. This strength is compensated by the many players lost during the tournament, that has forced coach Kalessin to rely on the few remaining ones.

Joplin Disasters: the second pact team of the play-offs looks like a powerhouse, with all three big guys around. They are both their greatest asset and a most formidable weakness, as their dumness often comes in the way of coach Sutherland’s plans. Still, Disasters does no honor to its name and it’s a developed team, offering its coach plenty of options to fill the spots. Still, only one player with tackle might prove insufficient to deal with so many dodgy players in the following rounds.

Cordoba Fernets: every season there’s a newcomer that defies the odds and gets to play-offs. This season it has been this also argentinian necromantic team. Coach Pucho made clever use of inducements all over the tournament and scored pretty impressive wins against many a developed team. Unfortunately for them, they’ll miss a golem and a strong wight for their first match, against White Rock. Will they be able to defeat the defending champion again? Only their wolves (and probably a mighty wizard) have the answer.

What’s up next?
Both Night Lizards and Titans have a bye week. White Rock will face Cordoba, and there will be a pacter duel between Disasters and Tangueros.

Meanwhile, in the New World Conference Argentinian Caudillos and R’yleh Regulars will enjoy a free week, while Charleston Sharks and Washington Generals will meet in the first round of play-offs. Butte Kickers and Green Back Smackers promise a bloody match for every fan.
