SWL Turns 50

This season marks a special occasion for the Southern Wastes League. 9 years ago, Twahn tested the waters and began an all-Australian league. Now, in 2013, SWL celebrates it's 50th season!

Since its inception, the SWL has expanded to include coaches from the entire Asia Pacific region, providing the premier league experience on FUMBBL. The SWL has inspired the creation of other leagues in Europe and North America, trying to emulate the success that the SWL has experienced.

However, what makes the SWL so special is the fact that for the majority of the Australian/New Zealand/Asian community, the league is THE most important experience on FUMBBL. This is due to the awesome, tight-nit community within the SWL which welcomes players and provides a positive experience all of the time. Additionally, the time zone difficulties make it hard to participate in majors, making SWL the most competitive blood bowl experience that we have easy access to. This awesome and unique prevalence of a competitive but friendly community has been the key to reaching 50 seasons.

I'd like to thank all of the SWL staff who have helped maintain the league over 50 seasons. I'd like to thank all of the past and present SWL coaches who have helped form this awesome community's culture. Finally, I'd like to thank FUMBBL and Christer for providing such an awesome framework to host this awesome league.

Great Halfling Battle III raised $41 to FUMBBL. 12 Brave Halfling teams battled in BlackBox to help the community, and Coach Kyyberi promised to donate money for their perfomances.

Shindahl becomes first throwing lizardman legend!

The throwing skink Shindahl of Shrieking Bloodstorm, with 68 completions for 99 passing yards making him the top passer and highest passing lizardman of all time in all current divisions.

He gained 13 SPP against Show the Ropes putting him at 180. He is still the #7 all time most blocking skink, and the only top 10 most blocking skink that does not have block, due to his suicidal tendency to attack ball carriers everywhere if none of the bigger lizards can reach them.

Hopefully Shindahl will continue to throw crazy passes, and make stupid crazy plays for many more games, until he dies a hero's death on the pitch, with crowds cheering, booing and screaming for passes and blood.

Vindaloo Is the new all time touchdown king. He finally overtook the superb flying goblin lupone coached by Gary_gynax.
Vindaloo scored 4 touchdowns in a match which saw his team beat to a pulp by FatEddies cloverfield_corpse_carriers !

Vindaloo has now scored 248 TD's and still lives, for how long is in nuffles hands.
I am not one for quoting stats so for the finer details just go look at his team page ;-)

Thnx for all the cheers and the boos whilst I play Vindaloo, I just love a game with atmosphere!

The village of Krapfenheim is well known for it's sweets throughout the Empire and beyond. Thanks to such legendary inventions like the crunchy frog-and-apple pie, the delicious snake-in-a-bun or the sheepbrain-filled-cake the settlement earned great reknown, but this was not enough. The village wanted more, so the elders decided that a Blood Bowl team should be established, heralding the greatness of Krapfenheim. The team has no stadium to speak of, their home games are played in a valley in the Greenleaf Hills, called the Cherrypit. Attendance is free, but you have to pay for the food, which one can find in abundance there.

After the games the killed opponents are served to the guests of honour. Because of this there are times when the Gluttons have a hard time finding an opponent.

It was 3 years instead of 2 but Southern Wastes League's most enduring team, 4 time champion Slumbering Skink notched up their 300th League match on Friday with their 9th encounter against familiar foe Clayinfinity who faced them in their 10th match more than 8 years ago. A 1-0 victory over a tough dwarven outfit was an ideal way to start the 44th Premier League season and showed that as with their 200th game, once again the skinks like the big occasions.

After being on the road for nearly 8 years, the Hellbound Charioteers played their 1000th game vs. the colossal Titans With Style coached by maysrill which ultimately ended in a stalemate after both sides attempted a turn16 score.

Such a wild event, that even celebrities such as Zara and Icepelt showed up to be honorary charioteers. The norse dugout flowed with beer, babes, and backroom foul dealings.

Fans also witnessed the glorious demise of the powerful 6 Strength piling on ogre,Kazmic the Everready, at the hands of the starplayer, Icepelt Hammerblow! Charioteer Blazer High riding home escorted by fallen Valkyries, after being completely body crushed into the soil!

On a clear and sunny day the Blood Sea Buccaneers ascended another blitzer to legendary. It was a classic match as the Buccaneers took down the Orkyzona Wildsquigz. E "the Forcer" Smith completed 3 passes to finish off his run to legend. The Buccaneers now have 3 legend blitzers to anchor their team and punch their way to victory.

In a hard fought battle with some leaping frog legs, Irrational moved into second place for most games by a Khem team in Ranked. Last night, the Blood Sea Buccaneers played in a driving rain storm on the FUMBBL Birthday, and our second legend Ogre emerged, Krikack part Duex. The Buccaneers love their big guys and Krikack part Duex is the 3rd Ogre legend for a human team. Of course Krikack Bone Tooth was the first. So the Buccaneers now own the #1, 3 and 5 spot on the all-time Human Ogres in terms of SPP. Some coach even called the Buccaneers 'Ogre University', or OU for short. The Buccaneers also own the #11 and the #18 on the top 25 list for all time greatest Ogres.

Today I played my 3000th Game in [R]anked. By pure coincidence (not), it was also my 100th head to head game against Rijssiej.

We have had a long history of seeking eachother out for milestone games, and this one lived up to the tradition we've built. As usual, Nuffle decided that passing the milestone is enough of a joy in itself, so decent rolls would be too much of a good thing :)

Still, as a well known stat freak I find it a great occasion. As milestones do, it also prompts some retrospection.

Nandorins is a old and beaten on team, but this evening they took revenge and cleaned the field in a Lustrian Challenge qualifier game against Elvenhome Elephants.

Mammoth Mino, a 617 SPP Minotaur, from the Massive Mini Minos has been slain in the first round of the Cheater Invitational. Kleva', a squig from Endless Hunger coached by Pirog slayed the beast on a block in the second turn of the first half. Hello FUMBBL! I’ve recently reached a milestone here: 2010-05-06 I played my game number 2000. This isn’t very unusual, in fact lots of coaches have reached 2000 games before me. But as it happens, game 2000 also pushes my average number of games per team to 100! (I’m sure someone will turn up who has done this before me.) Anyway, I thought I’d celebrate my 100 games average with this (freakishly long) post about my feelings towards Blood Bowl in general and FUMBBL in particular. Enjoy!

Considering I recycle my teams at a frightening rate this is quite an achievement for me, by far my oldest team. Its been a tough task, many rebuilds needed after numerous tournament entries.

The goblin team Their Blackest Hour finally got to play their 100th game in B, and true to their nature, they retired an Orc team in the process. Due to the handies, the gobbos only managed to field 1 troll and 8 goblins, leaving Terodos and Ari out of the game. Which was sad, since Terodos was looking forward to breaking the 176spp barrier in the teams 100th game.

A"Butt Kicker" Henderson became the #1 ALL-TIME top fouler for Humans last night.

The Blood Sea Buccaneers took on the Bashers of Morg last night in a rough and tumble game. "Butt Kicker" did not expect to get the top spot in this game needing 6 fouls to reach the summit, but the Referee had other thoughts! He refused to send off Butt Kicker and he just rained the golden boot down upon the greenskins. Finally, the Ref called it off after the 9th foul, and ejected Butt Kicker to the showers. Henderson left the field to a standing ovation from the Buccaneer faithful and enters the record books. He is also the #4 active top fouler for all teams, and is looking to extend his record and go for #1.

Vizia must have really impressed league officials with her performance in her most recent game. She was granted the MVP for her first half perfomance for Yurial's Jesters. Then, after being brutally kill by the Death Valley's wave of zombies and being reanimated by their Top-Notch necromancer, she was awarded the Death Valley's MVP award for her second half performance.
Death Valley's fans are excited that this may be a sign pointing toward a great, continued career for Vizia.

1000th matches ago, 15th March 2004, Rotten Flesh Is Our Ecstasy was created. 2½ years later they're still going strong.
In a tough match against the much stronger team, Fleetfoot's Revenge I, they celebrated their game with a loss, 1-3. Nearly 650 players has taken the field with an average of around 20 games.

During their time on fumbbl they have had all types of players, and played all kind of teams. They've only won one title, a legend smack. They have had several lows, but always bounced back. And they will continue to do so.

Today Hammer House reached their 200th game. This makes them the most played dwarf team on Fumbbl and the only dwarf ever to reach this amount of games. They had their share of success, qualifying for FC III on a wild card and also amassed 5 smack wins. Just a little over 5 months after my Fanatic Awards goal got elevated to official project status it is finished!

I had hoped to go out in a blaze of glory, by getting chainsawed to bits by one of the major goblin teams, but in the end I got too impatient. The final game wasn't too special, with the only real highlight being the 1st block suicide of my Rat Ogre:)

In my Qualifier Final against Wreckage, Lucy, the team's cas-machine, died on an unsupported foul after the apothecary had used his skills on a previously killed warrior. The team went on to win the final over the dead body of its spearhead - anything else would have defiled her memory (I go by the gender of the character, not by that of the player).

In what was a fun game vs Way of the Fist, the Rugrats managed a tie after a hard fought game. The Lavino Fighting Hellfishes reached the 700 games milestone, becoming first human team (and the 10th team on all Fumbbl) to reach that far.
The 700th game of the brave humans was a clash of titanic proportions against their preferred prey: Orcs. In the scorched pits of Skavenblight, in the second round of the Warpstone Open Qualifier II, the Hellfishes' thin lines got help from both Mighty Zug and Count Von Drakenborg, and managed to outrun and outscore the strong Blizzard Beastz for the final 2-0. And the crowd went wild.

The woodelfteam Galarion Glade Guards played their twohundred factiongame last night vs a tough gang of Ogres . Although it was a no point game, it was still a tough one, were both teams started of EXTREMELY weak, failing everything. Eventually the elves gained control of the match and won 3-0.
The Glade Guards has had their ups and downs, currently up though, although all the orcs and chaos in the group will surely help them TR trimming! ;)

startrek.nl played their last game

After 1001th games startrek.nl has been retired. startrek.nl was the first team on FUMBBL to reach 1000 games.
This retirement was part of a challenge set by their coach. The challenge was for a coach with Allied teams to retire those teams, then he got the 1001th game vs startrek.nl and startrek.nl would be retired after that.
After a while a brave coach accepted the challenge and retired his 3 allied teams: Guys from there, Jackson 16s and Lustrian Assembly. The 1001th game was a classic startrek.nl game with a lot of chances and TDs by only 2 players.

Their coach wanted to make one last comment: Rijssiej: "I want to thank all the fans and Alf115 for the great time I had with this team."

On the 31st July coach Pro Elfs With Guts defeated Nehekhara Royals 2-1 in an enjoyable but seemingly unremarkable match, but in fact this brought to an end a 9 month long quest by coach spubbbba.

Inspired by a blog entry from Arktoris (near the bottom on the 1st Oct 07) I set out to completely fill my games played stats page for Ranked Division, or "Fill the Grid". This involved playing at least 1 game against the 21 official teams with every race and so fill all 441 grid squares.

Finding Dwarfs to face my Amazons or Khemri to smash my Goblins was never going to be difficult, but to play some of the less common match ups I needed to create some rather unconventional teams. Amongst them; Black Orc, Blitzer and Thrower free Orcs, all AV7 Undead, a Dwarf team with passing Longbeards and a Kroxigor and all skink Lizardman team. There was a far greater resource at my disposal in the shape of the coaches of The White Isle League who I could always rely on to get those tricky squares and provide fun and eventful games. Chewie even went so far as to create a team just to help me out.

As an extra bonus i managed to complete the grid on the 2nd anniversary of my joining Fumbbl so would like to say a big thank you to Christer and all the staff and other coaches who make the site so great.

I've kept a team of each race so i can help other coaches fill the grid and start on my next quest, which will be to get all 42 Fanatic Player and Picker awards.

In his 44th game, Stumpy became the all time passing leader among undead players, overcoming the pouring rain to complete 3 passes. He passes legendary wight passer Ballard, Stumpy's hero. The final 3 completions also gave Stumpy Megastar status. In his 44 games so far, Stumpy has led the Gravehowlers to a staggering record of 1 win, 4 ties and 39 losses. Stumpy is nearing the end of his illustrious career, but first he wants to become the first undead player to surpass the 100 completion mark. Gravehowlers coach, Kelharis, in a post game interview, exploded in rage when asked about the milestone, "Who cares about a stupid record! I have a team to try and rebuild thanks to that useless sack of rotting meat!" When asked what his immediate plans for the team are, Kelharis was evasive, but did mention a trip to see the collection of Khemrian mummies, now on display in the museum at Nuln, would make a nice vacation.

Frantz Bueno becomes top human star

In his 117th match Fender Benders star quarterback Frantz Bueno was facing the zims coached by belshamharoth. In the dying minutes of the match, down 3-2, Frantz took matters into his own hands. Surrounded by 3 lizardmen he intercepted the ball, dodged away (2 dodges) and completed long pass leading to a TD for a final result of a 3-3 draw.
With this stellar performance Frantz Bueno was officially recognized as the greatest human star of all time in the ranked division.

The Shadow Knows played his final match recently. The recent niggling injury plus the staggering cost to try and recruit others finally caused him to lay down for good. Shadows first game coninsided with the bloodiest game in Vampire team history. 6 dead players left the pitch that day, including mighty Macavity. Shadow was later seen paying the Ogres off that killed half his team. The legend of Shadow was born.

Shadow "outlived" 80 of his team mates. He had 6 Casualties in one game. He loved playing Skaven, Orcs and Chaos. He felled many a claw/rsc monster that came his way.

Today, 2008-06-29, Black Orc Blocker Komog of da Teef Rippas became the top Orc blocker of all time by making casualty #84 in this match. Komog passed earlier top Orc blocker Wally, who made his last casualty 2005-08-08. Wally made his CAS before the Piling On skill was nerfed however, making Komog's achievement even more spectacular. It has taken him 164 matches to break the record, making one CAS every other match.

After 600 games with my main halfling team Left My Heart In San Francisco I have decided to throw out my best player ever, "Mr T" aka "Unbreakable little wood killer".
I Wanted to wait until his 500th cas, but I had to choose between him and the survival of my team, I made the choice!
I was upset with having 5 handicaps against me all the time, winning 10k every 20 games, and when "virus" came I just had to push the turn button all through the game -)

I (Ehlers) cannot remember how I found this site, but joined fumbbl June 26th, 2006. During my school years, I played BB quite a lot and to my surprised, I could still remember how the game worked and soon played my rank games. A month later, I posted a thread on the forum and with no poll, recreating an over debated topic, and I was quickly fouled to death. ^^ So left the forum and just played BB. Soon I got into the Danish channel.
Now 500th total games later and more then 200+ Nurgle Rotter games played, I must say that Nurgle Rotter teams are the most interesting to play for me.

Well it has taken 18 months, but coach Longshanks has finally achieved his goal of becoming the first Fumbbl coach to hold a Fanatic Player award for every one of the 21 LRB races. An exhausted Coach Longshanks collapsed in relief after playing his 50th Khemri game today.
Asked whether he'd be carrying on to try for an addict award for every race, he responded by tearing his hair out and running in circles before collapsing in a heap.

While being escorted to hospital by some kindly (sic?) orcs in white coats, Longshanks did utter a few words of thanks to all those coaches who have helped him achieve this milestone. He expects to be back to coach his beloved Dark Elves after a short sabbatical.

The Hellbound Charioteers charged into its 200th game today vs the infamous and ancient Khorne’s Scorn for a stalemate battle upon the fields of glory and pain!

The charioteers are now fumbbl’s oldest norse team and the only one to break into the second century. While trekking down the road to Hell, they have unconditionally accepted every game offer which has led to fighting up a grand total of 1254 Team strength points against mostly orcs, chaos, ogres, chaos dwarves, undead, and dwarves.

Along the way, they have all died on the pitch, refused to apoth deaths, eaten their own, and collected 54 heads of their victims which now are bound with twine to their chariots of brass and steel.

DeMaio was located and interviewed by CNN (Chaos News Network) and had this to say. “The journey to 200 is a celebration in courage and immortality. Our playing style will now take a brief rest as we prepare for the XFL. But don’t worry, after the tournament, all those who should be dead…shall be ritually slain. No one cheats the Grim Reaper. CheeseMachine's amazing bloodbowl career has finally come to an end! The Gutter Runner who never aged was one of the most notorious touchdown scorers. He had been injured before, suffering a permanent loss of agility. This did not slowdown the Legend. It was not until a punishing foul from a freebooted lineman cause a permanent movement loss. Doctors tried everything they could but they could not seem to reverse the damage already done. At the time of the foul, CheeseMachine was 2 TD's away from being on the top 10 active scorers list... His lifelong dream was never fully realized.

As the Match Report shows, the game ended in a 1-1 draw. CheeseMachine is currently serving as a coach for the MiniMightyMice, and with his expertise we expect to see many more Legends emerge in the near future. Keep your eye out!

Game 44 for the Necromatic Covenant of the Damned saw them facing off against the skaven team of Wild Guts. The game however ended in tragedy when the Covenant's star Blitzer and team captain, Lord Temzich was killed! The murderer was a nasty Storm Vermin called Terry. This rat sported a mutated claw as well as increased strength and a crippling mightyblow ! In some respects Covenant fans are happy to see Temzich die to a worthy opponent rather than a rookie Gobbo's boot or a stray bootlace.

It's been a long time since Warthog plays in stunty and in the stunty cup. 59 games and no show of slowing down. Finally, he did it. He became the best Beast of Nurgle active and all-time in stunty.

191 spps, mostly due to casualties. 89 of them in his career. So many dead opponents joining the ranks of the Lords of Pestilence. Amazingly, in his career, he was elected MVP only once, as if the reporters couldn't choose him as the best player on the field. He added a steal and 2 touchdowns.

Niggle-free, the team managers said they will try to keep him as long as possible, to set an amazing forever record.

The Daisycutters have played their 100th match in faction. They are the 1st Halfling team to reach this amount of matches. Sadly this match resulted in another loss: Sprouts In Need 3 - 0 Daisycutters. So the losing streak still goes on and has reached 35 matches.

Nevertheless the Daisycutters won't end playing in faction until they win one of those shiny medals. Despite the losses, they stayed in F3 for 7 seasons, and once they will win again the path upwards should be open again. There are rumors that the Cutters will send a chosen fling to bring the gold medal deep into khemrian land where it will be thrown into the fiery chasm where it was forged. It will be a long way to reach that aim, but the halflings around Hickory Swishtwigs will continue in the aspiration to go where no halfling has gone before. The after match meals are just too delicious. %)

This event of the highrated Cheaters took place against Culle's "Royal Chaoties". The spectators were glad to have paid their seats, cause this game was exciting as only few games are. After the 1:0 by the Goblins a combination of two perfectly aimed bombs cleared the path for the 1:1. The rest of the game stayed interresting till the Final result
of 3:1 for the Chaoties.

We want to see more games like that. It was a worthy #100.

Family Ness have played their 100th game!

They played maxblb's Lost Faction which unfortunately ended in a 2-1 loss for the "Nessys". It was always going to be a tough match as the lizards started with just ten players since four were missing from the previous game. The highlights of the match were two kills by the "Family" which brought a mighty roar from the crowd.

The team has had 38 past players and 14 current. The most notable of these is Lovely Ness who has played in 98 of the 100 games totalling a whopping 141spp. Two other sauri Eager Ness and Grumpy Ness make up the backbone of the original team. Both have made quite a name for themselves.
Other notable players include Mr McTout, the teams fastest skink who retired at 134spp. And Baby Ness, the teams nastiest krox who retired at 51spp.
Many other players can be found in the all time Top 10 Lizardmen statistics for the faction division.

Coach BlackNWhiteDog had this to say about his team.
Its been a roller coaster journey getting this far and a steep learning curve. The lizards started well wining the majority of their games but a couple of early spells in F1 almost cost the teams future. With the teams initial enthusiasm and drive worn out the team plummeted from F1 for a second time and barely managed to stay in F2. At one point we lost 7 games on the trot which left the stands half filled and the cougher's running dry.
But despite the mounting problems a few good games boosted the team again. With their new found vigour the lizards went on the rampage once again, battling their way back into F1 with some brutal victories. Who knows what the future holds for "Family Ness", hopefully some silverware...

For those who don't know me. I'm Jim, reporter for Bloodweiser magasine and today i'm interviewing Panda_ Head coach of the Rats Menent. Your team has played 300 games, and you haven't told a lot about it. Why ?

Panda_: Offering sits for our 300 match would have mean, that we were stopping to play. Those Skavens will never stop playing. True Fans come on important events. We are famous in the underground, and that's where most of our fans come from. I'm please that you came. Maybe the interview will make us well known at the sunlight. And that a new wave of fans comes to feed the actual ones.

J: Believe me, your team will be famous there. Your fan base decreases. In my archive, it was 29 during your 201th game. It has also increase to 33. But now your team is lacking not what it used to be. Why ?

P: Those times where the best ones we had. We were one eighth finalist in the Fumbbl Cup V loosing only to the defending champion Nandorins, we had the best Storm Vermins G'Rat Double and A'Rat'Che, we had the Strong Ergo Tar. But when those players decieded to help me training some young talents, or when they gave their life for our fame. The fan base slowly decrease. In addition, we had lot's of troubles those times.

J: And what troubles ! You had a great winning record. And now you barely have won half of your total games. How could you explain your numerous latest losing streak ? You didn't speak a lot about it.

P: Nuffle gives and Nuffle takes. Sometimes, even Horned Rat is joking. Grey Seers predicted that. We lose more than a player every two matchs: I counted 169. And like at our beginnings, we are storing lot's of Warp Stone, and keeping it for good times. That century started well. But we did worse everytime. That was awfull. The good news of this story is that in our 118 graves, we have added 115 players from the other teams ! Only 3 of our players aren't honored to corrupt others.

J: So your team live to corrupt the rest of the world ? If you were playing the Ulthian Tournament, many people would join you. They all want to kill elfs, even some elfs wants to.

P: That's our skaven nature. We are only there to reugnifiate skaven tribes. And if we weren't invited was because of our bad shape. Can i ask you a favor. I want to throw you in our crowd.

J: Can i refuse ?

P: No. And now my fans, we need two more bodies to honor the remaining graves.

played their 100th game today, being the first one of my teams to reach 100 games ever. In their 100th game the Queens faced neophyte's Orc team

19th Greenatics in

this blood filled game , although the blood wasn't of elvish origin like one might expect. The Queens won the match 2-1 naturally, giving them a neat looking record of 60/20/20. During these hundred games the Queens have tried to avoid playing versus other elven teams preferring to play versus Chaos, Dwarves or Orcs most of the time. What fun is Blood Bowl if no-one gets hurt? Only 10 out of the hundred games have been played against elves. The Queens have proven that it is possible (and very fun) to keep a winning record with an elven team without playing other elves 90% of time. They will still retain this principle and will hopefully have played less than 20 elven games when they reach 200 games. Onwards to the next century! Keep on dancing!

The Forum Suckers, the team chosen by Fumbbl Forum members, is pleased to make the following announcements. Team captain and all around nice guy The Shadow Knows has reached Legend Status! Shadow, best known throughout the Fumbbl community as a beacon of warmth and friendliness, had this to say.

Shadow is currently the All Time Vamp Leader in casualties and is 5th all time in Vampire SPP. On a side note the team played it's 100th game Against the Nuggettown Norseman. As ordered by Shadow (you argue with him), the announcement was delayed until Shadow could become a legend and take over the lead in casualties. Past great players such as Off for a Pizza and Macavity have allowed the team to reach the Century mark. Next up, a hopeful bid into the UI !

Loptir became a legend today, he achieved this in a game against the Nachtburg Ancients. This is the Game Sheet.

He finally starts to feel old age, maybe it's because of the breath of these ancient creatures that he started feel it at last. He is the most violent Khemri mummy that ever set foot on the field. He doesn't know yet if he's going to retire. His team has made a statement that they will never ask him to retire. He would need to come to that decision on his own.

Today the Bleeders played their 100th game in a bloody game vs Clumsy elfs.
The game ended with a 1-2 Defeat for the Bleeders but looking back upon the match they had another cause for celebration ( beating up elves is something they always enjoy ) since their Troll Dummiethird
have been playing in every game so far thus giving inspiration to newcomers for his teamspirit and leadership of the Bleeders.

Fumbbl has a new all-time top scoring goblin.
The already famous highflying Lupone surpassed another goblin legend, the first Gary_Gygax wonderful TTM creation: Lupino.
It has to be remembered that Lupino played all his games on what once was called Open (now Ranked) and the team was switched in U straight after his departure: all-time top scorer list.
Lupone broke the record on another spectacular 5 TDs performance.
Many fans love him, some others hate him instead, but he still soaring every game even if the team is becoming more and more unplayable at such TR.
Anyway, they're all playing for him and they really don't care about winning or losing.
Still flying high....

Thraka the Dirty Thrower retires after 100 games

Thraka the Dirty Thrower has been a mainstay for Coach MadTias' Orc team da Glitz Gitz for a long time. He made his first SPP in January 2005. Today (2006-08-26) he played his 100th match and has decided to retire, to allow new talent to come forward and lead the team to future glory. Thraka explains: "My TR value (25) is too high to support my usefulness and if I stay on the team, the team will continue to face tougher opponents than we can handle. For the good of the team, I must retire."

Coach MadTias appreciates Thraka's sacrifice and hope he will find time to kill helpless victims outside the pitch in his retirement. Thraka took the Dirty Player skill because da Gitz wanted to have a DP available on offense (and Orcs have 11 positionals available for offense, so no lino DP). This has worked well and is a practice that da Gitz will probably keep up.

The highpoint of Thraka's career was the Warpstone Open 2006, where he took da Gitz to the semi-final (with a lot of fouling done on the way). After the Warpstone, Thraka's TR value has continued to increase with little skill value and da Gitz have had a terrible run, with a record of 15/8/15 in the games since. We expect a brighter future.

Valdrek Bloodgaze Dead, Millions Rejoice!

One of the most hated and feted players in FUMBBL history, Valdrek Bloodgaze finally met his end on the pitch.

Valdrek's amazing career was ended by a flying boulder hurled from the grandstands by a Treeman fan of the noble Liras Leveler at the start of the second half. The Blood Falcons had already used up their match alotment of magic sponges on another fatality earlier in the match and arguably the most infamous player on FUMBBL ended the match as a big red smear on the pitch! Ironically, it was Valdrek's own inflated TR value that probably killed him. The 5th handicap for the match was Bad Press... which halved the Falcons 33 Fan Factor to 17 which was enough to lose the roll off!!!

Hate him or love him, Valdrek was an amazing one of a kind player.

Sotek's Warriors became the first Lizardman team to play 200 games. In a Bloody Match against the Mist Guardians, the Warriors managed to pull out a tie. Vreek fails to score in the first half and is killed in the 2nd half while trying to get into scoring position. This Super Strong and Agile skink will be missed. The team blames Krushudon, the blodging Krox for his death since he niggled out and failed to protect him.

Komodo also became a legend a couple games back. He managed to get to legendary status only suffering an ag gimp. His fast pace frenzying style of play will continue to haunt opposing teams for a while.

Hopefully these lizzies can make it through their current rebuilding period and play another 200 games. Rest in peace and who also died in the game.

Spectris becomes the greatest vampire in fumbbl history.

Spectris, already the greatest active Vampire on fumbbl, is now its all time leader in spp for Vampires. In a match between his team Blooderlust and Forest Folk, Spectris was but one spp away from the all time Vampire record. Late in the first half he intercepted a pass (his first and only INT for his career ironically) to surpass the retired Admiral Maximilian von Blausee who had 216 spp. Apparently the fame that Spectris had thirsted for all these games couldn’t suppress his thrist for blood. For the first time in memory Spectris was forced off the pitch due to his lust for blood, and the vampires failed to score on the last turn of the first half. Although the Vampires eventually lost to the Forest Fools 2-4 the overall fan support of the record setting game had a lasting effect and Blooderlust’s FF increased after the game.

Spectris was quoted after the game “It was really great to get the record today. Obviously I would have rather come out with a victory today, and I feel responsible for the loss. Had I not been thinking about the throbbing vein on that fair haired maiden’s neck, and her warm rich blood right after my interception we could have scored and tied up the game. If that would have happened who knows maybe we would have been able to tie the game or win it. It really bothers me, my lust for blood is the only thing keeping me from being a Vampire coach myself, and I really feel like I need to get that under control.”

It is expected that Spectris will continue to play and try to get on the all time top 10 list for all teams, but only time will tell.

Yes, Gary_Gygax's TTM addiction finally generated another incredible highflying scoring machine!
Lupone just reached legendary status after an incredible match between his team, All About Throwing (a very appropriate team name) and Cloggy's elves.
All started in a tavern with Gary remembering the good old Lupino's flamboyant flying actions. The crazy coach never lost the throw team mate addiction and so he thought to start another team to launch gobbos all around the pitch.
No more ogres on an orc team, no more ogres on a gobbo team, troll have the nasty tendency to eat the little greeny, so what better than an ogre team!!!
And so, after just 32 games, we have another gobbo flying Legend, Lupone.
He probably won't reach the glorious achievements Lupino reached, but you never know with a gliding gobbo...

Sleeper in Metropolis played their 600th game tonight.

It was only fitting that we find an opponent of equal fame... so we played the infamous Inkaprettatori.

It was a brutal match in which Inka called upon the services of Morg 'N' Thorg. Sleeper suffered heavy casualties and even lost a strength increased golem to a nasty hit from a troll. Inka had the game in hand early on, but to his credit.. coach Buskopanz refused to stall and foul like he could have. And for those of you who know Busko, that says a lot about his respect for my beloved necro team.

With 600 games in, one might wonder what is next for Sleeper in Metropolis. Well, luckily dead people don't have much better things to do than play bloodbowl, so we will continue on... and on.... and on.

Thank you to all the coaches that helped us get to game 600 (there are a lot of you) and I look forward to taking the team to game 700 and beyond.

At last the New Baby Dollz have as the first ever Amazon team reached 400 games played. It was in a rather boring and uninteresting affair against some High Elfs called Ipar Kutxa. Sad to say, the New Baby Dollz lost the game, but as the team captain Blue Star Babe said: "What can I say, it is the way of Nuffle..."

Wyrmtainter, head coach of the notorious Proudly Mysanthropic Minions, is standing near his team dug out, watching the pitch. The Match versus the Ultimate Showdown of Destiny ended about an hour ago and still the Minions players are there, surrounded by thousands of dark elf fans that came to see their favored team's 100th game. The second after the Minions won the game, the fans broke the barriers and filled the pitch, bringing their stars high in the air, cheering to the glory of the dark elves. Seeing this the Necromantis ran off the pitch and into their quarters, hoping that the stadium staff would block access to their quarters, but the Minions won and for once the dark elves anger turned into praise toward their team, leaving the necromantics to whatever plan they have as long as they are out of the stadium soon.

The Champions of Nature were defeated yesterday by the Star Orcs 2 in their 200th game.

In 20 seasons in F1, the trophy room has gotten quite large, including 8 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals. This puts them on a par with the Ambassadors of Light, which unfortunately are quite inactive these days. The Champions of Nature also rank fourth in games played (200), second in games won (111) and second in TDs scored (605).

In a late night match this past Friday, the legendary Sleeper in Metropolis squad reached the 500 game milestone.

In 500 games, Sleeper has gone 151/113/236. When asked if it bothered him that they had lost more games than any other team in FUMBBL history, coach Kenty simply said, "Luckily our zombies have short memories"

Today the first Halfling team to reach 100 wins has emerged! the Cookie Crumblers Return
Managed to get this far in their
177th Game!

In the same match Johnny Turmac the only surviving original team member got his 20th (!) mvp (putting him in the All Time Mvp Takers for ranked), for gloriously fouling a Dark elf into the casualty box.

Many of you know the Cookie Crumblers, some hate them, some love them, some just spec them. It's been an utmost pleasure playing them as well. Shinan and I had a great race to 100 which I (narrowly) won, though admittedly, his halflings have played a lot more diverse and picked a lot less cherry on the way.

Even so, without trying to sound too smug, I feel playing halflings has increased my bloodbowl skills, and the achievement is still huge, considering i won more than twice as much as I lost with the little blighters.

I promised myself I wouldn't brag about Johnny too much, but I simply can't help myself. Having a halfling play in your team for over 170 games and keeping him alive will make you feel attached to the little guy. I've tried to rationalise it, but it's just awesome knowing your player is pushing the boundaries of playerdom, be it score, intercepting or simply surviving as a stunty.

It's been a long road to get here, and a great pleasure. To all the coaches I've played and killed off their team: I'm sorry... somewhat..a little.. a tiny bit.. ah hell I enjoyed it. To all the people who beat me: Touché!. To all the coaches who love the crumblers: Make a stunty team! I promise you, you'll fall in love with them eventually!

Skavenblight Rugrats last remainder from the starting lineup, Bobo Ballista, has reached Legend status! In the 3-1 win vs the High Elf team "Cool'n'Càmisa" he threw the completed pass that took him over the "border". When the skillroll was made, it was a 6+5, both on skillroll and ageing! He is now aiming for the alltime skaven passing record (something hard to check now that the race setups has been removed though). Although fragile like a wounded halfling, he has no plans to retire yet!

The Paladins of Purple passed a key milestone today in their game against Lill-Lief's Streetfighters. Their 200th game was a madly luck influenced draw and brings their record to 139/18/43. With the death and 2 niggles suffered meaning they once again go into recovery. Their quest to show that Chaos without DP or RSC can be fun and a success will continue.

Clockwork Greens star Goblin, Short Fuse McGee has reached legend status. He did this in the teams 68th game. Due to a league ruling on his wheelchair being classed as an illegal weapon to be taking the pitch with, he calls it a day and retires the top active goblin in ranked, 3rd top stunty as well as top goblin TD scorer. In retirement he'll be the #4 Goblin coming from a goblin team. For the team a new time is upon them with the spotlight moving to another one of the up coming Gobbos in the team.

Age old injuries sadly kept Tabnum Darksheet from playing what would have been his 200th game for the Dark Judges. Tonight's match was a very special one for One Night Stand's legendary thrower Kara Hammons. In a game against the chaos team Give me some lovin, Kara threw two completions and scored the game winning touchdown on the 8th turn of the 2nd half.

Kara not only set the amazon passing record, but also passes Madchen to reign supreme at the top of the amazon spp charts.

After finalling reaching the top, Kara will now ponder retirement as her elevated status is making it really hard for the team to find even matchups.

In an otherwise uneventful match, Candalion of the Forest Fools today scored the team's 1500th TD in its 499th game.

The team owner had planned that the team should score their 1500th TD in their 500th game and had thus forbidden the team from winning with more than 2-1, but Candalion just couldn't resist. As for punishment, the team owner commented that "none will be needed, considering that Candalion is a one-turn-scorer and thus already has a big target sign on his head".

Sotek's Warriors become the first Lizardman team to break 150 games. With only two players to break the 126spp barrier, Buldoza and T-Rex have long since been replaced. The team has won over half it's games, which included a dire rebuilding period. Komodo is now the team's leader for now. Buzzy Vroom is the longest tenured skink EVER on the team. His kicking abilities have greatly helped the teams ball placement. Here's hoping they have another 150 games :)

In the 123rd match of his career, Doomy Diggers bull centaur Meuh has managed to become the all time top scorer on Fumbbl. Despite being Boneheaded through handicaps for the past 5 games, he has made up the difference between the record set by the dearly departed Selena Arin and his total fairly quickly. He had been very close before, thus forcing Selena out of retirement. A decision that finally led to her death. Apparently the fact that he now had a firm target was an enormous motivation. Public enquiries about whether Meuh will try to break the alltime SPP record by Fro'de have remained unanswered so far. He may, he may not. For now he is in his stable, enjoying some well deserved, champagne soaked hay. How far will his campaign bring him......... ?

The necromantic team Sleeper in Metropolis played their 400th game against their arch rival Foe Hammer on Thursday night.

Foe Hammer took out our wolves early, killing Edgar Wright, who was Sleeper's first and only wolf to make 100 spps in our 400 games. But fate was on Sleeper's side tonight, our remaining players took over the game and dominated the opposing side. The game ended in a frantic last second attempt by the dwarves to tie, only to see a zombie intercept the pass and effectively lock up the victory for Sleeper in Metropolis.

After 74 games and 227 spps, the legendary norse Tryggvi Svinborst of Riders of Jormungand has finally been killed, and is currently drinking with the Allfather in Valhalla. Tryggvi was the first norse ever to reach legendary status and he will be missed, but as the new team captain Snarve Svinborst (Tryggvi's younger brother) said: "For a true norse, death is a reward!"

Like with every other dead player, the team captain raised a runestone for the slain. In english (for all you non-norse out there) it reads:

Cult of the Brainless make 54 game undefeated streak

This is it then, the end of the Cult of the Brainless undefeated streak.

After losing to some pesky rats in their second game, the Cult managed to play an astonishing 54 games in a row without losing (and tying only 4 games).
But all good things have to come to an end, and for the cult it happened today in this Game against coach Dreadclaw

It was a nice game with lots of luck changes, but in the end Nuffle decided that the time to lose finaly had come for the Cult.
Without going into much details, it involved a snake eyes and a real nice throw in from the crowd.

The price was high for the other team though, recieving 2 kills and 2 SI.

All in all a nice way for the streak to end.

In a training (?!?) game before the XFL-Wood Elf tournament began, the Elvish Renaissance lost their legend, Michelangelo Buonarroti. In addition to this grevious loss, they lost another two players in the same game!

Michelangelo left the pitch for the great wood in the sky after scoring 82 touchdowns and earning a vaunted 261 spps in only 30 superb games!

His teammates will miss him as they go into the XFL with heavy hearts.

Charlie Maine, the Halfling Hero of the Cookie Crumblers Return was finally slain on the field in a valiant effort to rid the world of some undead monstrosities. The murderous cretins who did this foul deed were none other than Broken Face, Thesquig's Undead team.

In his long valiant career spanning 113 games, he had caused an impressive 33 casualties, making him the top Halfling Blocker. The amazing twist to this odd record was that Charlie only had a Strength of 1! His final moments were watching the foot of a vicious and dirty undead player about to stomp the life out of him.

The team mourns the loss of their Cathayan-monk-trained Halfling, and shall eat a jellyroll in his honour. His family has been warned, and the entire moot is in an uprising. Some whisper that Charlie actually didn't die, but instead struck a deal with the necromancer. These rumours haven't been confirmed, but with a legendary halfling like this we may never find out.

In the dying seconds of a long match, Kiljoy Smashdasher of SlaughterHouse5000, surrounded by kicking orcs of Low Tech Persuaders, finally succumbs to the wounds inflicted in a brutal blitz earlier in the first half. The stitches the team's doctor attmped to seal his wounds with tore open, and as he felt his heart pumping it's last, he pushed the Orc Lineman Mook out of the way and crawled over to the young Orc Blizter Fred, who had caused the lethal damage earlier. As the stunned crowd looked on, he slowly stood himself up, blood spurting from his neck and chest in copious amounts. As the final whistle blew, Kiljoy pulled a bloddied SlaughterHouse5000 Medal of Valor from a pouch on his belt and pinned it to Fred's mud and gore spattered breastplate, looking him in the eye and giving a grim nod of approval before collapsing on the pitch for the last time.

Following the match, a small scuffle ensued wherein Mook insisted that the medal belonged in fact to him, for administering the final, fatal foul. However, a quick review by both teams' coaching staff verified that Kiljoy's will did specifically state that his dying Medal of Valor could only be presented to an opponent who killed him while on his feet. Fred walked away, proudly displaying the proof of this major accomplishment in making his first Blood Bowl casualty ever, while Mook angrily kicked at the wall, only to slice his foot open on a small shard of Kiljoy's claw that had snapped off and lodged there during the foul...

Hthlss passed the 200 spp barrier making him the first skink in the ranked division ever to achieve this feat.
He achieved this with a completion against Falcs Dark Shadows.
The superskink who plays for the Blue Tounge Lizards didn't stop there,he went on to make another completion and score 2 touchdowns.
For this effort he was awarded the mvp for his team.

Hthlss is also the top scoring skink in ranked with 44 touchdowns and also the top blocker skink in ranked with 7 casualties.

When asked if he could overtake Whi'ne,he replied "Maybe if the rest of the lads can see it through with me."
He was also asked what does it feel like being outscored by a saurus,in which he said "He is soft,he might be able score but he doesn't have as many casualties as me."

So what does the future hold for this skink?,well he is only 4 spp short of becoming the greatest skink of all time.
Can he pass that and raise the bar for all future skinks?
Only time will tell.

In a game vs the gutter cheese (lost 4-3, but well played) wh'ine, the amazing saurus, got his 85th touchdown, making him the ONLY non oneturner in the top 10 list. Today was rather significant, as the coach broke 2 records in a day.

Interviewers asked Wh'ine what in the blazes drove him to become a scorer... he just shrugged and pointed at Bay-leez, one of the skinks

Bay-leez commented: He wants all the glory... he's basically a wh'iner... we all hate him... but the coach tells us he needs to break records, so we play to please...

This saurus surely DOES travel a road less travelled... who knows where it will end?

Alas the day has come when the Dark Judges chose to retire their greatest star. For a long time Judge Death had ruled the Blood Bowl arenas of FUMBBL with his supreme blocking skills, but as of late the Dark Judges have felt it was time to
give way to a new avatar in order to shift some of the focus to other team members. He was happy to earn a place in the annals of the undead however and he will be missed.

With a Winning record of 103/31/70 and an experienced TR-range from 367 to 82 this team has surely seen it all.

Finally, Wh'ine has made it. While playing the team Broken Headstone, a team coached by Kenty, He scored his 34th touchdown, effectively becoming the Top Lizardmen TD scorer.

This in itself isn't that spectacular, but Wh'ine isn't a skink! Wh'ine is one of a kind! A saurus that relies on scoring, not on bashing! He is the only saurus in the All-time topscorers list thus becoming a Unique Player!

Hopefully Wh'ines accomplishment (with a winning record!) will inspire other coaches to look at their saurus a bit differently, seeing their full potential! Saurus don't just bash, they can score too!

After 71 greuling games this player has made it to her dream target, she avoided all ageing rolls like a pro but was tripped on a risky dodge causing her ankle to snap like a twig. Even though her APO warns her she can only risk moving 5 she constantly ignores the warnings and risks an extra 2 as often as she can despite the chance of a more serious injury.
There is just one question left should this passer retire now or battle on? she would like your honest opinions on what what would be better for her team mates the Jinxed Wizards

Curtis Martin the star blitzer for the Patriots of Foxboro played his last game on Tuesday night. Curtis played 78 games for the Patriots racking up 11 completions, 13 touchdowns, 1 interception, 35 casualties and 11 mvp awards.

Age finally caught up to the blitzer and the thought of missing so many games and hurting his team was just too much for him. Curtis retires as only the 2nd human blitzer to ever reach legendary status in Fumbbl.

He was the first faction star player, the first top faction scorer...... but he also was the worst thing happened to my team "Onis". Having a OT (one turner) means a temptation match after match. You have to do big efforts to avoid using it permanently and i did it, i know i'm a sinner and i paid my price. With 316 spp and 80 td, he was gaining fame while the rest of the team was all the time watching how he played. While he was getting old he lost AV and strenght but he gained agility in field and speed. Just until the day they played against Quincy (candlejack). He get seriously injured and then while he was being healed, he tought that the time for retiring came. Then all the time decided to follow him and so that was the end for "Onis". So learn the lesson don't point in your GR while the rest of the team doesn't gain SPP KEEP ALWAYS YOUR TEAM BALANCED!!!

The Disgruntled Evangelists have finally taken the top spot for most wins by chaos with 97 wins. The previous owner was a certain guy known as Deathgerbil. While this is indeed a nice goal and something to be proud of, it seems rather trivial considering the teams current state. The Evangelists have been on a road to disaster for the past five games and it doesn't look like it will be ending anytime soon.

Our latest star Michael J. Miracle was forced into retirement at 142spp. He had managed to achieve a lot and was a force to be reckoned with but it just wasn't meant to last. Tragic news indeed. Had we more players Michael would continue playing but we are just too few and cannot afford to give up 2-3+ handicaps a game like this. So a decision was made.

As to the Evangelists future, there is not much hope. We plan to get to 100 wins at the least, to be the first chaos team to reach that goal. After that though we may finally retire and call it a day. Thanks to all those that helped us get this far! (Friends, victims, etc...) It's been a long painful road.

Today started the famous Blutballas Cup II in Neudunkelstadt. we really hope not to be ashamed about the "1.BC Neudunkelstadt" like last year, after they lost in round 1. But the winner of last year, the "Grobmotoriker BC" will be hard to beat. whatever, there are some other strong teams which may want to hold the cup in there hands: "Dragon warriors", "cult of the snake" and "punisher" also are strong temas which already showed the last time, they might be able to do nearly everything...

This game was great. More a shootout than a classical game. Not that much blood, but somehow Helium refused to hurt his opponents. Asked after the match why he played so gentle today he just answered: "Hu, well, they were somehow stronger then expected. And i did not use my complete strength. You know, my mum is cooking some fine meal for me. I need all my strength to be competitive in that. Or my brothers will get the complete meal."

Well, that statement leads us into the idea that this half strenght playing troll was enough for the Deepwood Warpstars. Anyhow the goblins scored from every position. And they took a great advantage when they were able to see weakness in the Woodelfs defence and blitzed them twice in a row. Both times they were able to score in the end. Especially the 9:7 was a great TD, when a woodelf followed Copper into the endzone, while he was able to walk with that woodelf on his back. And never failed to slip away. The fans stood up after the match and applauded so loudly that the fans of the Warpstars feared they might lose their life and ears due to the noise. ;)

Anyhow, it was a great and cool match.

Finally it happened.
Fluorine died. Her record was beautifull. All the time she sacrificed her body to the team and never showed any sign of respect. Her last words were: "I will take him, he will not step behind me. Trust in me." Well, he did not step behind her, but killed her instead. But she fullfilled her duty once more and helped the Chemical Reaction to another win. Not a great one, but a painfull one.

The fans stood up and celebrated Fluorines match record. Some of them like to be as strong and good as she was. Germanium, a former lover of her, joined the team to revenge her death. "She was the best girl i ever had. Showed never respect and showed me the beauty of life. I have to pay her something back."

Grog Stinkrak, the Ogre for the Bloodrunners open div. team; beloved friend of owner Jose Bagg; Child support paying father of twelve; and feared opponent is dead. He was denied the honor of dying in combat when a useless git crushed his head in an illegal foul. Gifts should be sent to the "kill the git foundation"


At the time of his death, he led the league in casualties among human teams. He was also ranked #9 on the Fumbbl Magazine's top human team members list.

When asked what he would miss most about Grog, Jose Bagg (owner and captain of the Blood Runners) said
"His big goofy grin whenever he would do that frog splash move of his. He loved to hurt people."

He will surely be inducted to the Real Hall of Fame on his first ballot.

After being hasseled and ripped apart numerous times, the dirty girls decided to change their ways and abandon their far off goal of having 16 dirty players on their team. There are still 4 dirty players on the team, but no more of them will train in the art of playing dirty. This may not make it easier to find matches because there are still the 4 Piling on girls as well, but it will make distant future games easier to capture. now if someone says they are a team that goes for kills, I can say "Somebody get this freaking duck away from me,"

Green horde win a game, curse believed broken

I can't even begin to describe the celebrations of the Horde after this game. After 12 games with no win, these orcs now believe they have broken a curse that was placed on them (they suspect dwarves had a hand in that curse). During that 12 game streak, the team's fans have left by the thousands, but after this game they have managed to bring a few back. The head coach said he believes now that the team has broken the curse upon them, they will start winning and the fans will return and they will start making some money. Only 2 TDs were scored in this game, but the story of the game is the 6 casualties infilicted by the green horde (3 of them by the ogre - Boo), while suffering none.

In a rather average, if not to say dull, game coaches Mirascael (300) and Mnemon (500) celebrated their respective milestone matches. With the magical number of 500 games played as coach in the fumbbl leagues, Mnemon agreed to compile a commented and exclusive list of all his former teams for Spike! magazine.



"500 games, I made it. I didn't achieve much in terms of rankings or successful playing. I didn't achieve much worth getting recognition for. I don't even think I learned all that much looking back. I did achieve rolling a lot of 1s in many many matches. My teams usually always play just about slightly worse than my opponents, somehow, mirroring their skill level. I managed to pull of victories against some of the great coaches once in a while, though. I ended up second worst in terms of coach rating [yay me.] I don't care about ranking whatsoever though - hence my only remaining ranked team are goblins. I don't have much to look back upon - so I will do it now, and move on to the next 500."
