Starting today, Blackbox Trophy Season 3 is underway.

Season 2 ended up being a very close race, with the top 10 (well, 11 because of a tie at 9th place) being the following coaches:

1. 127.5 points - DrDeath
2. 125.0 points - Bibi
2. 125.0 points - Malmir
4. 119.0 points - fxiii
5. 114.0 points - vicius
6. 111.5 points - Strider84
7. 111.0 points - Chivite
8. 109.0 points - PurpleChest
9. 107.5 points - Prez
9. 107.5 points - Candlejack
9. 107.5 points - Timetis

Those of you who, like me, enjoy "watching slow moving numbers" had a great time following the last few days of season two. I'm hoping season 3 turns out to be equally exciting (perhaps more trickery with racial leads this season?).

Season 3 rules are as follows:

Coaches select a squad of 4 unique teams with a budget of 7 points with team costs as follows:

0 points: Goblin, Halfling, Ogre.
1 point: Vampire, Slann, Underworld Denizens.
2 points: Dark Elf, Elven Union, High Elf, Human, Khemri Tomb Kings, Norse, Chaos Renegades.
3 points: Other races. Max 2 of these teams are allowed in a squad.

The score is calculated based on the first 25 games with each team in the squad.
Scoring works as follows:

A win gives 1 point, a tie gives 0.5 points and a loss gives 0 points.
An additional 2.5 points are awarded per point of unused team budget.
Having a team with the highest points for that race awards 1.5 additional points.
A bonus of 0.5 points is given for every 5 games played per team.

Once a squad has completed all their 100 games, a new squad can be created with the same rules as above, with the addition of no previously used race in the season can be used again.

All teams must be new (0 games played) to sign up with the new season.

Good luck to you all, I am looking forward to following the progress of the squads to see who can take the top spots this year.
