"Real-World" Threat - Jackass Rampant In Trouble, Needs Your Help!
Do you know Jackass Rampant? If so, you know all he’s done for FUMBBL—as a coach, as a community organizer, the funds he’s raised, how he took the initiative to found the FUMBBL League of the Americas when we needed it.

Jackass desperately needs your help, NOW. This is not about the game—though in the big picture anything about JR can’t help but be about FUMBBL. But this is a serious call to help save him from being permanently institutionalized. For real.

He needs the FUMBBL community to step up for him.

Background: A prescribed drug JR was taking threw him into a manic state. The cops carted him off to a psych hospital, gave him new drugs, and he’s doing fine now. But if you know anything about psych hospitals, you know they sometimes make decisions that turn out not to be in the best interest of the individual. Come Monday, he’s scheduled for a court hearing that will determine his fate.

It could go badly for him.

PLEASE DO THIS: Take a moment to add your one-paragraph comment to this post now—about your experiences with JR as a coach, a community organizer, or whatever. Have you enjoyed playing him, or watching him trash your rivals? How have you and others benefitted from the funds he’s raised? What kind of person do you know him to be? What kind of leader?

JR feels this situation is desperate not only for him, but also for this game community. If we lose JR, we’ll all be worse off. He’s been such a major force in keeping FUMBBL going, it’s hard to imagine the game continuing without him.

Show JR that you care—Help to create his “Miracle on 34th Street” by showing that he’s as important to FUMBBL as Kris Kringle to Christmas.

If you were in his shoes, wouldn’t you want the community to step up for you? We all have to be able to count on each other, or community means nothing.

I'm not much of a FUMBBLr, I'm his mom and I care about him. And I care about the game and this community because they're central to his life. Please leave your comment! Do it now.

NEW DEVELOPMENT:
THE GOOD NEWS - Matt is not going to be required to have the court hearing.
THE BAD NEWS - That means he can’t be released until Monday, at the earliest.
THE UGLY NEWS - You have to clap louder, or JR says you’re all admitting you’re Tinkerbell’s Bitch!

Matt, do not give up, fight! Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts! (Fight every day, work on progress, never stop your motor!)

Chiwah - It is unclear how I could help. Do you plan to link the responses to some official psycho memo? Or just encourage JaR? I have asked him a few days ago how i could help him, and nothing really materialized, but if you know an opportunity, please let me know. You can also contact me privately on the matter.

Good luck with everything

JR's involvement in the 145 Club has been invaluable, as the group is set up to ease new comers to the site or indeed the game it is vital they meet with generous, friendly and all-round helpful coaches. Matt is beyond all these great traits as he is a mentor and guiding hand.

Chiwah; Hopefully in the fullness of time everything will return to a normality everyone can cope with, my best wishes are sent your way.

I want to thank JR for everything. JR introduced me to fumbbl. He played patient tutorial games with me, explained how the system works, introduced me to the american main leagues, their discord channel and community. I don't know if i would be even on fumbbl if it wasn't for him. We had long talks about bloodbowl and also other stuff like politics, philosophy, etc. (btw. we don't agree on many political issues, but he always ontinued to respond to arguments with respect - a rare attitude nowdays).

I went to San Diego in summer 2016 and 2017, the first time i wanted to meet him at balboa park but he declined due to his condition. Then i learned more about whats going on and i decided 2017 to visit him at home. He had some of his friends coming over and we had a good time, playing the cooperative game "Shadows of Brimstone".
We also talked about his NBFL superbowl, which he won just a few days later.
What happened recently - him not being able to have a normal conversation, etc. - is a big contrast to my previous experiences with him and it worries me deeply.

I don't have a local bloodbowl community i enjoy, and i am really thankful for JR connecting me with this awesome community on fumbbl. I planned on visiting him on my next vacations in San Diego - i really hope this would be possible by then. I send him my best wishes and hope that he gets the treatment he really needs and that allows him to get better and - what i personally wish for - hopefully he may make a comeback on fumbbl one day.

Greetings from Mexico!

Chin up JAR!

The record shows that we've only played a measly seven times. You have the lead 3 - 2 with two tied. you gotta give me a chance to get it back.

IoMT is waiting for ya!

I consider JaR a friend ever since he took over management of my DLE team and we had been working in such a close cooperation.
At times the idea to have a manager was belittled but soon it turned out to instill fear in my opponents due to the high competence JaR showed in dealing with the task until other DLE members came taring at out relationship trying to recruit him as a supervisor for the dealings of the entire DLE.

I have been talking to him quite a bit before and after his changes.

I didn't feel like it was that difficult to understand him after. There was just more context to know and one had to listen closely. He was talking basically like the 'Darmok' from Star Trek: TNG. Using metaphors you would probably not know about. But he would take the time to explain them to you with more metaphors. At times he was just talking nonsense tho. (I think.)

He was using the 'tilt' to describe his current state. Which he understood was a need for psychiatric treatment.
He was however very afraid of the idea to go to a psychatry because of the way they would impair his rights. He certainly wanted help and asked for it.

One thing I'd like to point out about JR is how regularly he tries to help the FUMBBL community. Sure we all know about the money he has raised for the site, but a contribution that cannot be overlooked is how he helps new members.

When requested, he takes the time to watch the replay of a match and then gives the requesting coach pointers on how he could have played it differently. This type of involvement helps new members gain some footing in a difficult game and then they are more likely to stick around.

On a personal level I have had the pleasure of chatting with him on several occasions. We have helped each other build our enjoyment of the game by customizing our team pages. During those interactions I got to know him a little. I appreciate his help and I hope everyone involved in his life will simply do all they can to help him in this hour of need.

All the best JAR I hope things improve for you and that you can continue to add value to the fumbbl site for many more years to come .

I have always found JR to be polite and very friendly. He spent loads of time on our league at no personal benefit at all and is a great member of the fumbbl community

Keep fighting. FUMBBL needs you JAR!

Hang in there JR. Great and much appreciated member of the fumbbl community.

As character reference I can only second what everyone else is saying, JAR has been a help to me on a personal level at improving my game and at the wider community level through fundraising, running and/or assisting various leagues.

JaR stepped in to help DLE monitoring trades in the league, and be a voice of reason so no trades caused anyone to be cheated. He did so in what I would call a critical period for the league. Thanks JaR. I hope you get your RL back on track.

JackassRampant is a name that rings with eminent contributions to the site. Both in terms of organizing interactive fundraisers to help with the running costs of the site, creativity when it comes to making competitions and teams, but also in social terms with deft comments in the forums and chats. Looking forward to seeing him back on the site. Love, Balle2000, member since 2008.

I haven't yet had the privilege of playing JaR but it's obvious from his regular contributions to this site, particularly his help for new coaches that he is a nice chap. I really hope he gets well soon, he's a valuable part of our online community.

I know JackassRampant as a sensible person who is very easy to get along with. He's always ready to go the extra mile to help someone out. Wish him the very best

JR has always been a very decent man in the conversations I've had with him - always very impressed when people contribute to the community, and he certainly did a lot of that. Get well soon, all the best.

Not had the chance to play yet, but I've read a lot of his stuff. As a result, I use his terminology to refer to players on the LOS when discussing formations. All the best mate - I hope we get our game.

I have known JR from FUMBBL for about a 18 months and he was my first real mentor in terms of blood bowl. From that time until just recently, he has always been a lucid reasonable voice with a particular viewpoint that he approaches Blood Bowl with.

He and I still talk shaping teams in particular ways even if I have departed into my own style. The last few weeks were very troubling for me knowing that he was having a difficult time that culminated in this incident. This latest time was not at all indicative of his general insightfulness and lucidity during the rest of my time knowing him.

I'm pulling for you JR.

I have bumped into JR a number of times on FUMBBL, played him a few times, and nothing about any interaction would have suggested to me that he needed to to be sectioned. He always came across as a normal and decent guy and was cordial and decent in our interactions.

I hope he gets given a chance to turn this situation around.

JR is a stand up fellow and I'vd never experienced him as rude or toxic even when amply provoked. I have zero concerns regarding his behavior on Fumbbl, although his win rate is suspiciously high... you might want to look into that :D

I met Matt (JR) through our FUMBBL league, but met him in person at a Blood Bowl tournament in Michigan at a common friends house in 2017. This past week when he was on the new medication, it was definitely a departure from the Matt I knew for years. If he is doing better on a different medication, I am grateful as the only thing I have been able to do from afar is keep positive thoughts of him doing okay.

I wish for Matt to get the help he needs to manage the challenges he faces. I know he is a good person and I look forward to him coming back to being a healthy part of our niche little community here. We already miss him and are all pulling for him to get better and manage what he can to stay that way.

JR has always been courteous and kind in all of my conversations with him. The true test of someone's demeanor is how they treat people that do not demand respect. JR treats everyone with respect and that's something to be prized in the internet, and world, community
