thoughts on clawsrazorsmbspilingons and such
While it's true that back in the days of golden LRB4, claw+razors were potentially deadlier than claw+mb+po, it wasnt that bad.

The ones with razors and claws we're sort of rare individuals, even cool individuals. They had to ignore other handy skills on doubles and use them to get their weapons. I remember names of many individual players and teams thx to those skills.

NOw, with the new rules, the claw+mb+po is everywhere. It's more expected than exception. It's just generic and dull. It's always just another case of clawmbpo, nothing special. Nothing cool. And while it may not be as deadly on single players, it is so because it is everywhere...

I got no problem with piling-on, sure it's overpowered and broken, but I can take it on my guys too. Or Fend works a lot of times too.

For me, the biggest issue with the skills is the fact that claw now stacks with MB. It used to be less than 50% AV broken, now its over and that's where it goes wrong. Previously my MB vs beastmens av8 was as good as their claw vs my av9, now I got nothing to compete. Now I'm just av6 waiting for the dices to do their work to thin my lines...

And yes, I'm an orc lover. Have been since my first TT game (2-2 draw vs flings) and will always be:P

Yes, the voice of reason

orcs have been majorly nerfed by the new rules

but then again, some team always get nerfed. it's just their turn.
Posted by Skulll on 2012-02-04 20:55:09
it's just a silly nerf when the nerf mostly takes place only against the few races who get the claw... and incidentally it's just those few races orcs end up playing the most, or at least mine seem to...

Other than that, I haven't felt too much difference...

oh, and got to add I'm not 100% against it, on Underworld it's just cool:P

Totally agree with your thoughts. Clawpomb is broken and the biggest culprit is Claw. This is easy to proof: if po or mb was the problem you would see orc and dwarf pomb teams doing well in the box. Now they are just silly punch bags with their "heavy armor" which can be punched through by long fingernails as easily as it wasn't there.

The fact that claw only punishes some teams is totally bad design. The problem could be easily mitigated by making mutations only on doubles. But even that wouldn't make the problem go away as numerous cd clawpomber teams prove.

PS. I'm an orc lover too as orcs were my first TT team. :)

I'm not going to defend the clawpombers, but the orc block/guard/mighty blow wall was always pretty boring to me. Effective, but boring. Everyone has their own version of the rules they favor, myself I would like to see rsc come back, mutations back to doubles only, multi block available on blitzes again, and dp back to its lrb4 form. Everything else I like with the new rules. Just making DP stronger would slow down the piling on in my opinion.

LordE, you are wrong.

PO is the problem, not claw.

If claw pomb really is 'boring' why do the claw pomb games get the most specs? Surely people are mistaking 'boring' and 'over powered' for 'hurts my team and I don't like that happening, but don't mind watching it happen to other people'

Finally someone (freak) that says how it is. As long as the very same coaches that call clawPOMB 'boring' spec their games this is all a load of hypocritical bollocks.

Jiger speaks sense as well. Anyone remember the dorf/Orc teams that were unstoppable walls of block/guard/MB? Yeah, they were fun times as well wern't they? :)

Returning some bite to DP would solve the PO issue all together IMO as it is now there's no fear in the PO put that fear back and the problem goes away

pythrr, I disagree.

"Previously my MB vs beastmens av8 was as good as their claw vs my av9"
why not take mb/po yourself and hit their av8 beastman. in your above example if they had claw/mb they had the advantage anyways (mb on injury)

LordE - search the early thread discussions on the issue and you'll see that the math supports my view.

waaa waaa plz don't kill my orkzzzz

freak has a great point. Clawpomb games do get the big spec numbers. But rarely are the crowds cheering the good BB. They are there for death, and are rarely dissapointed.

But a lot of people stop and watch road accidents, it doesnt mean they want to be in one, or support them as generally a good idea.

I agree with Jigerjones to some extent. Fouling should be made stronger as a counter to po, though i really dont want to see it go back to its lrb4 form. And mutations should be only available on doubles rolls, with the possable exception of underworld teams
