My best advice: get the basics of blocking, especially assists, down, then jump in and play. Let your mistakes (and your opponents) teach you.

Welcome to Fumbbl :) Don't get discouraged, this game takes time to learn. By the way, love the handle. A friend of mine named her son Torsten :)

Make sure you read the rulebook, and hang in there for the initial beatings. Welcome to fumbbl!

Welcome to Fumbbl and good luck on your first matchs ! If you're new to the game, you're likely to lose your first matches, but don't let that discourage you !

Orcs are very good to start with ; if you like another team though you can probably start with them.

I'd like to warn you that Fumbbl is working on a new client, which will be official very soon, but right now is in testing stage in the [F] division. This client have the up-to-date rules and don't need any downloading and installation. But since it's not official yet, every other division uses another client that requires installation (ask about it on the chat).

Also, the [A]cademy division, as well as [B]lackbox and pretty much everything bar [F] and [R] are kinda dead right now. ([L] is not dead but you need to be in a group to have games ; there is little one-off games made in that division.)Teams in [F] will be deleted once the client goes live, but you get to keep the name when you re-create a team if so you want. It might be a good idea to make a training team in [F] and learn all you can, and then re-create it or create another one once the client is made official.

I hope all this haven't scared you off ! I really hope you will enjoy playing here :) See you on the pitch one day ! Ancre.

welcome to fumbbl torsten!

If you feel a bit overwhelmed in the learning, focus on the new FFB division and the upcoming blackbox (Jan 15th). Those rules are the future of this site. At this point in time, it's a waste of time to play in ranked, league, academy. those rules are getting phased out.

If we cross paths on the field or in chat, don't hestiate to ask questions. always a joy to assist a new coach.

see you around!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the great welcome and all the tips and advice. There seems to be a really strong sense of community around here which is very cool.

I really am taking my time to slowly get into this. Since I signed up I've been looking around the site, sorting the client, the irc, reading guides and the rules and lurking it up on the forums.

The current transition period for Fumbbl rule-sets makes things a bit tricky to get a handle on but the comments here have been very helpful and there are some informative threads around as well. So it's all good.

I'm going away for a few days tomorrow but when I'm back I'll be straight back to fumbbl. I'm really looking forward to it all and I hope to see you out on the field soon!

Torsten
