First of all, congrats to KFoged who played an excellent game.

Now what happened? Well, I think it is fair to say the dice were cruel today.

The Handicaps were:

Morley's (on 3 players)
Greatest
Bribe the Ref 2
Bad Press (saved him from Get the Ref in the second half heh)
Extra Training

Not the best mix, but Greatest is a real pain as it took out one Str 4 Mighty Blow player as Morleys did work well on some drives.

Anyway, I start off with the ball and struggle to get very far, with an early snake eyes on a dodge or GFI. Was not a great start. The Nandorins pushed forward in defence, but were unable to stop a score that took 3 turns (I think).

At this point the Falcons caused a niggle on the Nandorins Lion Warrior with AG6 and the game froze. I asked KFoged what he wanted to do and he said he would keep his player in the game and assume the apoth worked.

Nandorins scored easily and it was 1-1 with only 2 or 3 turns left (there was a 1 turn Riot earlier on taking a turn)

I had some crud ball handling rolls and was unable to get the ball upfield. KFoged was down a Str4 AG5 Leap player and a lino then, and I was down 1 BH and 3 KO.

Second half, Nandorins again scored easy as the they still had some very good players on the pitch.

Then the dice rolls became a little uneven. The Falcons failed 4 out of 12 Sweltering Heat rolls, and then also had Hurkon sent off (a 6) leaving them with just 9 players. I could only field 8 due to Greatest.. My opponent failed 2 of 12 rolls.

This left me with 8 vs 10. The replay starts about here.

Anyway, I send a Dragon out of bounds leaving me with a 3+ and 2+ leap or 3+ catch and 2+ dodge and 2+ dodge with Dodge reroll to score. I roll 1,3,1.

The ball is spilt and my opponent picks up the ball and scores. Sure there was bad luck there, but I probably coulda played better there, eg I had a player who should have ran back to mark his Lion Warrior. So a mix of bad luck, and punishment for not playing better to mitigate the effects of the bad luck.

The Nandorins lead 3-1 with 4 turns to go. The Falcons had some nice hits to set up a TD. Just a 2+ pass with Pass reroll, 2+ catch, and 2+ handoff.

What do we roll? Snake-eyes :)

Ball spills lose.

KFoged picks up the ball and although missing the throw, the damage is done. I am down 2 TDs and only have 2 turns left. I have to make 2 GFI to get to the ball to attempt a difficult pass.

Turn 8, all that is left to do is try a completion... miss, no SPP :)

Congrats to KFoged for winning.

My opponent played well and didn't make any mistakes. I didn't play my best but the 3 TD difference was unfortunately due to me having more of the bad luck when it really counted.

Sure I did some injuries to him, but he was never really outnumbered on the pitch (except the last drive, but then I rolled snake-eyes to pass and it was too late anyway).

First half some cruddo rolls kept the score to a tight 1-1. That was ok.

Second half, the critical part was the heat affecting more of my players than his (almost twice as many) and Hurkon getting sent off on the same turn, then the string of 1s to score at 1-2 down, and at 1-3 down.

It came down to who rolled more 1s, and today it was me. No major complaints though as I had a lot of nice luck to get here in the first place and it caught up with me. At least no one got maimed on my side.

However, luck is a part of the game, and although I had the worse luck, I didn't play my best anyway so full KFoged was the deserved winner. Best of luck with the team in the future.
