Well, whats to say: Pouring rain all match and with Fast Eddie in the infirmary the latent rivalry between oldtimer Steve Jones and rising star Frantz Bueno broke out in flames to the extent that they were unable to take the pitch together. This had the predictable consequence that Jones was fielded on the defensive line. Frantz in the offensive lineup. Mr. Bueno comments: 'Guy doesn't know which end is up on a ball, beats me why he wasn't retired months ago.' Mr. Jones comments: 'What a bore! In the old days you had to know your minor from your major chords to be in this team, no longer apparently. The kid can throw a ball, I'll grant him that, but he sure was at the rear end of the line when the good lord handed out charisma. I'd rather have a drink with Barry Manilow'.

The game was a somewhat scrappy affair with the Fender Benders in the unusual role of the stalling bashers and they succeeded in keeping their 2-1 victory. The Beanstalk fully deserved the MVP as he had a field day tackling Gutter Runners right, left and centre and scoring one of the touchdowns. Steve Jones prevented the rats from making it 2-2 by bringing down a sprinting gutter runner on the touchline late in the second half.

Kudos to Bill Brasky for offering the game as he was playing up almost 30 in team strength. That proved too much, although the game came uncomfortably close to being a draw. Interesting game with an unusual tactical situation for the Benders (of being the stronger, slower team).
