“This is what major tournies and their qualifiers are all about -- losing to a newbie who happens to get lucky! ;-) In all seriousness, FischerKing played very well and had the luck he needed to beat the better team in the matchup.

The first half was a heavy foul-fest, with FischerKing getting the ref on the first turn. I managed to steal the ball with a lot of help from my wizard, but the elves equalized at half time.

I made the go-ahead TD on the third turn of the second half after losing to ball to snake eyes and FischerKing's wizard and stealing the ball back thanks to his snake eyes. I broke the elves' cage on the fifth turn and stole the ball, but couldn't manage to keep them from scoring after all. After a three turn TD the elves had only one turn to equalize, but thanks to some excellent play from FischerKing combined with lucky blocking (including a -2d block) he managed to one-turn with his AG5 catcher after some push backs.

FischerKing had a two-man advantage early on in the overtime, but only one RR as opposed to my six. He proceeded to play conservatively and move the ball downfield in a cage, while I kept leaping in with my players. I didn't manage to steal the ball, but pushed his catcher to the end zone on turn 6, leaving me two turns to equalize and get to the coin toss. A two turn TD against just 8 elves should have been relatively simple, but ill-timed snake eyes while picking up the ball sealed the game. My last-ditch attempt to steal the ball back failed and FischerKing was the winner in the end.
