My opponent had a niggler fail his niggle roll (Block, Guard, Mighty Blow) but he used the apothecary to bring him into the game (!) and he also had the Prince (star player).

The Fortress started in offence and had some ineffectual blocks. Babes applied some pressure and soon KO'd a player to have a player advantage.

The Fortress brought the ball forward into a massive screen of players. However, the Babes were able to block and push their way into a position where they could get a two dice block on the ball carrier and the ball was knocked free!

The Babes managed to recover the ball and run it deep whilst the Fortress struggled to prevent the score with average/mediocre blocking. It was a tense tight for the ball with the Babes losing it twice to a 2 dice Pow (11/36) from a player without Tackle, but eventually the Babes got the ball back again and scored, killing a Fortress player in the process as the Lion Warrior was herded to the sideline then pushed out of bounds where he was torn apart. Nasty play there.

My opponent protested about the luck despite the pows, but soon felt the dice were even again after getting a Quick Snap, a gazillion pows and 3 stuns to set up a commanding position from which to score heh.

The Babes took a risk and applied the pressure upfield, leaving a potential scorer unmarked, hoping that the Fortress would be forced to take a long range pass.

However, the Fortress just like the Babes before used their blocks and pushes to free up another player near the line of scrimmage to set up a shorter pass and hand off to tie the scores.

The Babes with two turns to score found themselves under intense pressure due to a Perfect Defence! The Babes went down one sideline with their star trio of Catherine Bell, Natalie Portman and Amanda Peet, killing another Lion Warrior on the way. Ouch...

The Fortress blitzed at the mini cage and stunned Natalie Portman and put tackle zones all over the place. But with Catherine Bell having Guard, the Babes were able to blitz and chain push the tackle zones away, leaving Amanda Peet with a 3+ and 2+ dodge to take a 2-1 lead into half time.

The Babes started in offence after the break and despite their fans killing the ref at the kick-off, did not do a single foul for the entire half. After some very average blocking on the LOS by the Babes, the Fortress applied the pressure, badly hurting Amanda Peet and leaving the Babes with few scoring options.

The Babes tried to regroup and failed a dodge, leaving them partly exposed. The Fotress got a one dice blitz on the Babes ball carrier and without Tacklle, got the Pow and picked up the ball!

The Babes made their 3+ Dodge to set up a two dice blitz and knocked the Fortress ball carrier over for Ashley Judd to scoop up the ball and throw a Long Pass to Catherine Bell (phew - no 6 on the intercept chance) who caught the ball and dodged her way to the end zone for a 3-1 lead. Was not an ideal drive at all, getting Catherine Bell to 123 spp, but the field position was really precarious and my opponent had put great pressure on me leaving me little choice.

At 1-3 down, the Fortress lined up on offence but had a pitch invasion! Whilst one? more Fortress player got stunned than the Babes, they were able go get through several players after stunning another Babe with a block to get commanding field position and score a reply.

The Babes had 3 turns left to secure the win, but got Blitzed! This looked really really bad with the ball landing just over the line of scrimmage on one wing.

The Fortress got a player under the ball but could not make the 4+ catch and the ball was on the ground with plenty of Fortress players near it.

The Babes collapsed on the ball and both teams fought hard for it.

The Babes recovered it with their AG5 Catherine Bell, but had no where to go and took a risk by standing back next to the Fortress Str4 player and bringing in another assist (with a 4+ and 2+ dodge) to try and knock him over. 2 dice block, nothing. Rerolled and nothing. Oh oh, free two dice hit coming up!

The Fortress knocked the Babes ball carrier down with their freebie hit but then there was still a lot of traffic around the ball. The Fortress got to the ball and burned a reroll on the pass (needed 3 and rolled a 2 first) then rolled a 1 for the catch. No score!

Very unlucky there for the Fortress, but then again, that Blitz! was very unlucky for me heh.

With time running out, the Babes decided to try and cage the ball on the sideline and managed to dodge enough players though to form a massive screen and escaped with the win just.

This was a very tight tense match that could have easily been a draw. The first half was a collossal battle for field position with both teams pushing away at each other until finally, the ball was exposed.

Unluckily for my opponent who used his apoth to bring in a niggler, both his casualties todays were RIPs, with one from an aggressive OOB play (I didn't need to do it to score, I did it hoping for a KO or CAS) that couldn't be apothed anyway.

Despite being down two Lion Warriors, my opponent played a very good game and kept the pressure up and if it were not for my insane stat advances (like AG5 Dodge Stand Firm Blitzer and AG4 Strong Arm Thrower) it would have been a real struggle to take the lead again in the first half and again, score when I did to start the second. So well played indeed by my opponent.

Luck continued to shine on the Babes, as their Thrower on 30 SPP who missed the last 3 turn drive and could not get a pass to skill (would have been hard with the Blitz! anyway) got the MVP and skilled anyway!

Anyways, I wish my opponent luck with his recovery matches and perhaps we can have a rematch someday.
