“"Yes! A Blitz!" cried Samuel Klicket. "Now we got them!"

Indeed the Sledgehammers got to blitz the Norsemen, but co-captain Bull Centaur Hreal Mournshed used up one of the team's two re-rolls in the process. And it only got worse from there.

"Wait, what's he doing?" yelped Klicket as Blitzer Lightening in a frenzied rage threw Hobgoblin Nipper into the crowd.

"It is called a crowdpush," said the coach.

"Is that legal?" cried Klicket. Coach Oblitzamanger just shook his head as he sent his maintanance crew to go fetch the little guy. He came back only slightly bruised.

"When you go back out there, I give you full permission to foul that bastard," said the coach, but Klicket was yelling frantically at the poor player. He was so involved in yelling at Nipper that he missed Minotaur Henrietta badly hurt the other co-captain Bull Centaur Lipren Hoosadd. But when he heard the roar of the crowd, he jumped up and saw the medics carrying Lipren off the field. At that point, he went into a great frenzy. First he yelled at the ref, then the Sledgehammers, then at Oblitzamanger, then at Nipper (poor guy), then at Lipren as he was being carried into the dugout, then at the Minotaur, but then stopped when the beast gave him a look.

Turning to the coach again, he complained," It has only been one turn and one of our best players is out, and two are off the pitch. We are down by two players! And look now! They have the ball deep in our half! I thought you prepared them well enough! How are they going to stop them two men down?"

Coach oblitzamanger just put his hand up calmly and pointed to the field. Sure enough, Hobgoblin Hortet had traced back and knocked down the Norse Catcher. Hobgoblin Scanthel then blitzed, knocking down a Thrower, and picked up the ball. Klicket said 'Oh' to himself and calmed down as the Sledgehammers took control of the game.

Scanthel refused to go down without taking someone else down with him, and so when Henrietta blitzed him, he stunned the beast, but lost the ball falling prone. The ball was moved around a bit, but Thrower Abraham finally got the ball. However, he fumbled his pass and somehow Blocker Ovig Figgin caught the ball. Even though he was unable to run downfield and score, he did manage to prevent the touchdown, with the help of Hortet, who badly hurt Abraham. At halftime, it was 0 - 0 and the Sledgehammers were going to recieve.

"You all know what to do. The Blockers screen the Hobgoblins and Hreal will help wherever he can. Just go and score at least one!" said Oblitzamanger.

The second half started well. Klicket was yelling at the Minotaur for hurting Lirpen, and Henrietta responded negatively. Thrown off by the puny Human's remarks, he didn't concentrate when he blitzed Blocker Zurith Kealkun, and Zurith took the beast down, giving the Sledgehammers a huge breather.

As Hortet ran upfield with the ball, Nipper got his revenge by putting his boot in Blitzer Lightning's face, stunning the Norseman, and protecting the ball from a possible assualt. As Klicket kept on yelling at Henrietta, the Minotaur again caused a turnover at the hands of Zurith. Lightining got up and hit Nipper, but the Hobgoblin was satisfied he got his revenge, despite being prone. The Sledgehammers thus were able to stall for a few rounds, as another Blitzer, Strobe, fell prone on a dodge. Finally, after Zurith had badly hurt Strobe, Hortet passed to Scanthel who was standing right next to him on Oblitzamanger's orders, and Scanthel ran it in for a touchdown and a new skill. Klicket went wild, but Coach Oblitzamanger knew that there was time for the Norsemen to score back.

Still jeering at Henrietta, Klicket messed up the Minotaur so bad that he failed to see the slippery blood on the ground when going for it, and tripped. That ensured the victory for the Sledgehammers, and it was topped off by Blocker Gurg Sasor getting the team's first interception.

When the final whistle blew, Klicket went mad with excitement. But Coach Oblitzamanger remained calm. He knew a lot of the victory was caused by mere luck. However, he got his monetary reward which he used to help pay off some of his debt. And he was happy to have the team's record go to 2 - 0 without any touchdowns being scored on them.

At the next practice, he taught Blocker Quintian Petronclu, who got the MVP of the game, how to guard his team mates better, and Scanthel how to dodge better. The team was staring to shape up into a decent side.”
