#2 Gothiq'ne Mortika – Dead (RIP)
Easy games never come easy for the Vanguard. I suspect they get orders from PR to make it entertaining for the crowd. We almost bungled this one, very reminiscent of our last match against the Skinks. Failed all the blocks that were critical to our plans and we had to constantly resort to plan B, C, D...and Z. That was a real bugger. Give those little skinks a chance and they invariably take it.

And then with all the fumbbls and double skulls, we once again broke our golden rule and left someone on the sideline instead of risking the gfi. Last time we did that was against the Adepts in a similar game and our witch died. Two seasons later and the same result. I hope Mortika's spectre shadows the coach a little better than Hopp'n did.

Had trouble putting him down and basically containing him at all. The containment wasn't a surprise, but not being able to stamp on his tail was a problem. And he managed the shifty crowdpush.

Had trouble putting him down too, and twice our thrower lost the plot in his shadow. First time he failed a dodge to get the ball away. Second time he just couldnt concentrate on picking up the ball.

He also wouldn't go down. And drew the double skulls from Mortika first action in the second half. Probably inspired the madness that made her hug the sidelines.

Game 38 - SWL16 Round 5

A pretty frustrating game for the Vanguard I expect, and low luck counts on both sides indicates the sort of quality of game it was. Twilight Veil sat the game out after a tiff with Frost Warden as to who was the greatest.

Basically a recovery game for the Fossils, starting with just 8 fit players. Try as the Vanguard might, they struggled to reduce the Fossil numbers. Thus the relatively even score in a game which threatened to be a blow-out.

Ballhandling was poor on both sides, and the Fossils blocking coach is really going to have to get his act together, with the only casualty again coming from the crowd.

1 Vote - Crimson Warden
