#14 Devon – Dead (RIP)
“The Woodies Double Double, Premiers in SWL XVIII have crashed back to reality!
A first up game against the Apocalyptic SWL Predators was never going to be easy but the boys played like they had been having a big party post season. Signs were ominous from the onset with Player Coach Dammo failing to recover from a Medial Ligament Strain. With out looking impressive the WDDs managed to tough it out on defence. They managed to hold back the Orc Cage but just when it looked like they would hold out till half time Lynx rufus managed to sprint across the line with only seconds left on the clock.
Aware that half time was nearly upon us Devon started his downfield run just before the Orcs had even kicked the ball. Van B got him the Ball and Devon was inches away from an equalising TD when disastor struck. All the rain had made the endzone extremely and Devon slipped just before the line. An akward fall on his neck, cracked his vertebrae and Devon was dead just as the Half Time buzzer sounded.
1-0 down and having just witnessed the freak death of a teammate. The Men of Wood were demoralised. A Pitch invasion from the crowd left the Woodies with few options on offence but N.G.W managed to get clear into the endzone. It should have been a routine dodge and Pass for Van B but his mind was obviously elsewhere. Smilodon Populator managed to tackle Van B as he was setting up for his pass. The ball spilled lose and that was it for the Elves. With numbers dwindling Van B tried valianty to make amends but to no avail.
Quite possibly the worst performance ever from the WDDs but the team is still in good shape. A tough game against KFC will not make things any easier however.

3pts: Lynx rufus - Scored the only TD of the game. Strong and with good hands the Woodies never looked like getting the ball of him. Thought we had delayed him long enough but a good turn of speed got him over the line.
2pts: Sarcophilus Harrisii - This orc was on the Roids and didn't he make good use of it. Damn Drug Cheats
1pt: Smilodon Populator - Managed to crash tackle VanB and stop the Woodies from scoring even a solitary TD

The game started with pouring rain. Usual not a good sign for Orks but Lynx managed to pick up the ball right away. Secured by his team mates he took one careful step after the other. Close to the half time hooter he finally realised that he needs to speed up and with a long reach in the last seconds he scored the first premiership TD for the Predators.
With a quick snap the wood elves tried to equalized and everything went well till Devon started celebrating one meter short of the goal line.

Under shock the wood elves went into half two. A witty onside kick put Van B early under pressure. In sight of a TD pass he stumbled and lost the ball. It was from there on no problem to secure the ball.
It would’ve been a 2:0 if not the Predator’s coach didn’t interfered and decided that a BO should score. But due to the pouring rain that was a hopeless task.
The Predator’s coach, formally a successful Wood Elf coach himself, wishes erikekers a good season and a successful game vs KFC.
None of the wood elves had an outstanding game. Therefore,
GOLD goes to Mikey the Bikey who was the most active player of his team
SILVER to Van B who could’ve been the star of that game.
BRONZE to Jenny B who managed to keep Ailuropoda busy the whole game.
