“CRAZY GAME!!! The bad luck was drastic; dashing each side repeatedly. But as the lopsided luck meter surprisingly accurately indicates it was an unfortunate game for Ansalon’s Hawks.

Handicaps: Virus took out two of my Lunar Lightning linemen, and then the greatest made sure we never even started with a full side as one of our guards had it out with thrower Cesimake Warpshot.

Down to 10 players, and starting out with some poor decision making by your’s truly caused the Lightning drive to fizzle out and to end up on the ground deep in Hawk territory on the ground and in the middle of a scrum. An effective foul by dirty Hawk Ned Brott took out our only tackler, the unfortunately named Underkick. Luckily eventually our blitzer Erzar Riftdancer recovered and under threatening pressure took it in for 1-0 lead with two turns to go before halftime.

1-0 at the half.

Second half starts with an ejection of Ned Brott as Lightning blitzer Teromul Greatstorm “takes it like an elf” when fouled. Teromul made sure the ref heard the endless screams, saw the BH'd blood and ejected nasty Ned!!!
But the Hawks had something up their sleeve as the Lightning sent everyone after the ball carrier deep in Hawk territory. “No!!!” screamed Ug from the sideline. It was a screen, and Hans Leftbridge tosses the ball to Edward Philips who easily takes it in to tie the game!

In the second half, bad luck resulted in Hawk wardancer Che Testikov tripping on two consecutive turns on GFI rolls, and BH’ing himself.

With only seven players left, (six if you take into account Krane Cooler’s repeated and perpetual take roots), the Hawks threaten to score on defense with a blitz but it was not to be and after a one turn stall the Lightning took a 2-1 lead.

On the last kickoff of the game, Lighting struck in the form of a thrown rock nearly killing Hawk guard Squire T. Hut if not for the apoth.

The game ended 2-1 with the Lighting extending their winning streak to seven in the NWL New Division a having won through a combination of skill and the excessive bad luck of the Hawks.
