“This was a tough game that I very nearly got away with. I had 3 nigglers on my team and my opponent rolled Virus for his 1 handicap. This put me down to 9 players before the match began. Not only that, the 3 nigglers are probably 3 of my best 4 or 5 players.

(The reason I have 3 nigglers in my side still is that they include my only Guard player and 1 of the 2 Tackle players I have. I don't have immediate replacements for them so I have to keep them for now. Having said that, after going from 2 to 3 nigglers due to a ageing roll last match, I may have to fire one before I play again.)

Anyway, the game got underway with my opponent receiving. I risked a 2d Block against on the ball carrier. Fortunately I got lucky and rolled a double Pow/Dodge and Badly Hurt the ball carrier. My opponent got the ball back and ran it down the other end of the field but I managed to stop him from scoring, despite him getting a Beastman with the ball right next to his endzone.

0-0 at half-time and I was still a chance of pulling out a miraculous victory. At the start of the second half I passed the ball to my MA8 Blitzer and he blazed a path down the sidelines. Unfortunately the 1 player that could reach him was a Strip Ball Beastman who took him down. Not to be deterred, the next turn I managed to Dodge another Blitzer near 1 of his players putting a TZ on the ball. My M8 Blitzer got up, Blocked the player standing over the ball and picked it up again.

There was a Witch Elf in the end zone waiting to recieve the ball. However, in my haste, I had forgotten that you can't Blitz and Throw the ball in the same turn. This meant that my Blitzer was stuck with the ball (and looking like he would shortly be relieved of it). He tried to GFI to put himself out of reach of some other players but tripped at the critcal moment.

In the next turn a Beastman scooped up the ball, my Witch Elf went crowd surfing and the match slipped away. A couple of my players tried to give chase but kept failing their Dodge rolls to escape their opponents. In the end my opponent was able to stroll in for a T15 TD.

All in all it was a good game played with good nature on both sides. BillBrasky was a great guy to play against and I would gladly play him again some time. Thanks for the game Bill. :-)

The only real down side was having Ruby, one of Blitzers, killed by a Block in the final turn of the game. It was especially annoying since I realised after the game that I didn't need to set her up next to an opponent to begin with (for some reason I thought I had 2 turns to score, not 1). Shit happens I guess. It is Blood Bowl after all! :-)”
