“Billed as a pre season friendly the game turned out to be anything but. Some reports suggest that coach G_Force had neglected to tell the players about the promotion to Conf. South and the extra pre season game.
Not a dirty game (no fouls) but Lothern will be starting the season with about a third of the team on the injury list.
Recieving first Lothern looked to position themselves for an early lead but a 50:50 (1db) challenge saw Xabi Alonso come off worst. This exposed the guy on the ball and Wolves put on the pressure. It was an unexpected Interception by Rob Edwards that turned defense into offense though. Lothern managed a timely tackle to free the ball but with players leaving the pitch in droves the Wolves score before half time was inevitable.
Some more heavy tackles and quick feet in the second half soon saw the score go to 2-0. This is when Wolves started to become over confident and Lothern's remaining players decided to pickup their game. It was only a late challenge by "Man of the Match" Seyi George Olofinjana and some good defensive positioning that managed to save the match and take a 2-1 victory.
Stephen Ward was on such a high after the match he said "I feel like we can take on anything. I just can't wait for the season to start"”
