#10 Alvaro Novo – Smashed Knee (NI)
For an Undead team in the Premiership, struggling with three season’s worth of Khemri, Orc and Dwarf fatigue (KOD Fatigue) the prospect of another Khemri game was far from a match up that inspired us with confidence. Funds low, fans leaving, and the coach turning to the bottle, we turned up anyway and hoped.

A sneaky palmed coin from our “Big Book O’ - How to really lose a game with a crummy dirty trick” came in handy… palm handy in fact! Hohoho.

In the sweltering heat our plan was simply:
tie up the Mummies!
knock Mummy down hit with da boot!
score fast!

Unfortunately Mikel González wasn’t planning on leaving it to Ion to take the Mummy out and instead KO’d his target.

Mummywell’s first blitz on ailing team captain, Gerardo García, badly hurt him without regenerating - the sixth straight member of the undead to fail to regen... we’re going round with an axe later to make sure we are playing with a DEAD team!
We made a break for the flank, leaving most of the Khemri to hit the zombies… which they were happy to do, and Garcia wasn’t alone long, another failed regeneration saw a zombie seriously hurt, that made seven straight and this was followed up by a KO – and these were in turn followed by 3 stuns.

Unable to maintain these blows, we scored quickly. 1 – 0 an optimistic score line.

With the injuries and heat also taking out three players, including star Mummy, we were left with a poultry 9 men to defend against 11, thankfully the KO’d opponent Mummy stayed there.

The Mummywell grind was an awesome sight… with blocks and boots on zombie, mummy and ghoul alike we were reduced to but 3 men, 5 in the KO box and… FINALLY! A regenerated Death!!! 1 – 1

We suddenly got a surge of adrenaline… all KOs returned, and everyone shook off the heat exhaustion. Mummywell however had tired themselves out stamping on us and punching our heads… and theie nine players came out to meet our eleven, of course, in this game – we wouldn’t be eleven for long. Sure enough another RIP – but again regenerated – TWICE – in ONE GAME!

We dove right in; tying up everyone we could, hoping to get that bit of luck. Holding our own with some good positioning, we got a hand on the ball carrier despite caging himself in. However, this was no normal Blitz-ra this was Super Ball Carrying Blitz-RaRaRa, he dodged through our defences and hoped to be free. Nevertheless, we managed to get two markers on him, but this was not enough and the Blitz-Ra scored. 1 – 2.

10 v 10 and a quarter of the game to go… could we tie this?
We began to roll a Mummy cage with a Ghoul behind, all the while throwing corpses at anything we could. Unfortunately, normally sure handed - Díaz de Cerio dropped the ball, costing us time we could ill afford. The Khemri committed many of their men to the Mummy cage whilst others fought on the LOS. His tackling Blitz-Ra however cleverly hung back. Soon enough we had to switch to the other flank, and even with the Blitz-Ra in waiting, it seemed we would have two ghouls to assist the ball carrier. However, two feeble Skellies blocked both bloding Ghouls and POWd one into the KO box and the other POWd to the floor… ok – no back up.

As we moved out of reach by all but the Blitz-Ra he inevitably took us down. The last option was a quick pass to a zombie by the end zone – the pass was good, the catch was not!

More fans left, and only 20k was collected at the gate…

The game ended, a close 1 – 2… this season is just not meant to be for Real Sociedead.

Xxx

Never expected to win this, as I’ve probably said all season so far. :)

I hoped for a draw – when Grit came out with 9 men for his drive, the thought of winning it even entered my mind, if I could just get the ball. Some nice 1d blocking and a dodgy Blitz-Ra however put me back into my place.

I had 4 turns then in which to score… Grit said I would fail to pick up with my Sure Handed Ghoul – and I did – curse him and his Jedi-Khemri mind tricks! Then 2 double Skulls on separate turns left me without RRs and having to play cautious, every roll counted.

In the end, more skelly 1d POW blocking (Of which there was more than his fair share :P) followed by his tackle blitz-ras 1d pow! I had a pass to a zombie for the, placing him there the turn before just in case – but this naturally failed today.

Can’t fault Grit though – he played his team well, just seemed I was fighting an uphill battle all game – not for the first time.

GG Grit – please stay up this season, I’m tired of Khemri. :P
