With their awful track record nobody really suspected that the Cheerful Deads would survive the first round of the grand tournament. When they faced a beefed up gang of orcs that looked well equipped to counter the ghouls it looked even worse. But this would turn out to be a match where the high spirit of the pirate crew would bring them out as victors!

The match started with Greenhajm Jonited recieving. The orcs, who had such monstrosities as a ST 5 black orc and two AG 4 greenskins, went on a man to man attack confident in their tough armor and brutish ways. Captain Rot O'hoy inspired his crew right from the start though, landing a heavy blow to the giant black orc and knocking him out cold. Meanwhile the greenskins nastiest evildoer Ylro Wajtface organized some of his mates to trample Bekhbob the Deckswab into a pulp. The poor ghoul got his skull kicked in when he was down in the dirt and is very lucky to remain alive at all.

The tempo went fast in the first half. An early TD for the greenskins was followed by a quick counter attack where the otherwise so useless Yar the Lucky tied the match. But the orcs managed to bring the score to 2 - 1 before the end of the half.

It was in the beginning of the second half that the match deciding moment happened. The orcs lined up a perfect defense which trapped the ghouls on the LOS next to their tacklers. A fast rescue attempt ended in misery and suddenly everything looked hopeless.
But suddenly the Cheerful Deads fought like they never have before. For a shining moment they were true heroes on the pitch, bashing in heads and sending opponents sprawling out in the crowd. The orcs defenses crumbled and the undead pirates swooped through. After some minor trouble Rodney Ratbreath could run in the equalizer and bring the match to over time!

Greenhajm Jonited never quite recovered from the bashing they took. They could muster a mere 8 men against the full 11 of the Cheerful Deads, and with the Deads recieving things looked grim indeed for the orcs.

Irek Deffejs showed that the Greenhajm players have spirit as well when he made a death defying charge into the cage and knocked the ball carrying Rodney Ratbreath out with a seemingly impossible blow. (5+ dodge and a clean hit against the blodging Rodney). Despite this the Cheerful Dead could use their numerical advantage to cut the opponents off and quickly regained possession of the ball. While undead pirates where battling orcs man vs man all across the pitch Smudge the Unundead could slip between them and run in 3 - 2 for his team.

Greenhajm Jonited mounted a desperate charge to tie the match again, but the Cheerful Deads once again cut them off and could hold their defenses. A magnificent victory for the undead pirates, who are sure to win new fans from their valiant achievment!

Greenhajm Jonited have to retreat as losers this time, but can be proud of their effort. It took all the way to the very last turn of the over time period before the match was completly decided.
