We start receiving but continued errors from our lineman at the back trying to pick up and pass on the ball mean the undead have a chance to steal (and do!), but luckily we are able to blitz down the blodging ghoul who grabs the ball. A few elves are removed to the KO box and BH area to cool off and the pressure is on at the back, but we make a nice move with one catcher passing to the other who sprints down one side towards the endzone. The undead try and break through with a ghoul but are tackled down (and immediatly gang fouled to a serious injury!) and we run off with the ball to the far side of the end zone to burn up a turn or 2. However a slip-up on an pretty unneccesary blitz by us lets the undead take the turnover and knock over our ball carrier leading to a bit of a brawl around the ball (mostly desperate attempts from me) meaning the half ends with us scoreless and ashamed.
We kick off with 11 elves vs just 10 undead but it's 0-0. Here's hoping we play a better second half! The kick is right down into their endzone and all 3 ghouls head back to make it safe so we stream through almost every player we have into their half looking to get a quick turnover. The undead are forced to clear a bit of way and then try and pass to a waiting wight- who fails the catch! We are able to push him out of the way and pass to a waiting catcher who sprints away towards the undead endzone! He's taken down by another great 1d ghoul blitz but we soon have the ball covered with several of our players- most of the undead are around the the half way line so we grab it with our rookie blitzer and again waste some time - could be a mistake...
A rookie ghoul knocks him down with a 1d blitz again! This time we make sure of it on our turn and score to make it 1-0; 3 turns left each!
The undead push through with a lone rookie ghoul (slightly assisted by a mummy) desperate to even the game but we put a stop to that with our tackling blitzer (who's had a stellar game) - and we even go for a last turn touchdown that unfortunately is stopped by a miracle:
