We're facing Woodstock's norse team who didn't get to play their round 1 match, leaving them at a slight TR-10 disadvantage (though no handicap!)
At kick off their fans try and even things out by getting the ref! Their two DPs have suddenly become top priorities to remove! We push forward and it's a bloody frenzy with a lot of crazy knockdowns, fouls and badly hurt players (one zombie for me, 3 vikings for them). We score on our final turn but it's going to be interesting to see who wakes up for the 2nd half here..
Our mummy remains in the KO box as does one of their DPs meaning we both have a dirty player on the pitch for the 2nd half. However it's 11 undead vs just 8 norse - the advantage is with us! Not for long- in their first 3 blocks and a mino blitz they KO 3 of our players and then KILL a rookie zombie with a foul! From a 3 player advantage to a 1 player disadvantage just like that!
We set up 5 players for a gang foul on their mino but can only stun him! From then on it's desperate defending from us as we're down in players and the norse are running all over us. We manage to knock over the ball carrier at one point but the norse always have the upper hand and despite last-ditch blitz efforts they score on their final turn.
*** OVER TIME ***
We have 10 undead (one mummy STILL in the KO box!!) vs just 6 of them, and we'll be receiving - looks good! And when a bad kick lets us hand the ball to our mummy it looks even better!
We go in hard, using our DP to foul for the first 3 turns of overtime, and killing one of their blitzers with (of all things) a rookie zombie block. Soon there's only 3 norse left on the pitch and they are all surrounded, effectively sealing the game. We get all fouly and try our best to jump up and down on any and all norse left but our fouls are weak and puny and leave the norse fans laughing in derision. We grit our teeth and score on turn 8 to win the game and advance to the finals, leaving just one turn for the norse to try and re-kill our newly raised zombie (no joy!).
