“This didn't look like a very hopeful matchup for my zons, but they knew they'd have to face purplechest at some point if they wanted to win the smack. The game started out with me kicking and 3 brave zons lined up on the los. First block - RIP, didn't apo. 2nd block SI - niggle (apo'd). 3rd block ko. My first turn and i geta foul in on grim and BH him. Althoguh short on numbers the zons decided to square up to the dorfs and take them in on a blocking game, which worked surprisingly well as the dorfs had used up all thier cas luck t1. t6 and i manage to scatter the ball and disrupt the attack. The dorfs then recover the ball but a failed gfi leaves the them exposed and all but a prone player out of range for the t8 td. All i have to do is roll a pushand move 3-4 players to mark the pron guy and the td would be near impossible, i roll double skulls, rr'd to a both down. so block with a a different player.... double skulls again and one rip'd str4 zon blitzer. With a chainpush and a free route to the endzone thngs looked good for purple but he then failed his gfi to go in to half time 0-0.

2nd half and i still have 11 players and a wizard andthings looking good. I recover the kick and look to start a slow drive from deep. first dorf turn and other than blitzing a skilless lino purple doesn't move any of his defenders... hmm.... i spread out my players and square up expecting an onset of dwarves, but they back off again...i try down and push down one side but have the door quickly shut on me, so swing to the other side to have a look there. It's at this point i realise i don't really have any plan of attack. i expeced the dorfs to rush out and start a blocking game and to maybe be able to sneak past them when they weren't looking, but without them starting the blocking i wasn't really sure what to do - it didn't seem make sense to voluntarily stand my fragile zons next to the tackle/mb longbeards. Whilst i was pondering this 4-5 turns had passed and we were both just standing off in the middle of the pitch looking at each other. I figure it's time to getmoving and try to set up to commit to one flank, but I fail a gfi and leave the ball exposed to his stripball runner! luckily he then fails a gfi on his blitz. With the sweeper out of position i decide to make a break for it, and try to make some space to get a cage going in the dwarven half. However I fail to roll a pow on my blitz and then fail a gfi trying to get to safety, leaving the ball completely exposed. The dorfs then recover and dash don the pitch, setting up for a t8 winning td. i use my wizard and hit the ball carrier but his other runner was also in range and picked up the ball to score.

gg purple and congrats. it was closer than I expected, but it seems I have absolutely no idea how to play offence with zons vs dorfs. any tips for next time would be appreciated :P”
