“Cursing Mummies were anxious to get their second season under way after a longer than normal offseason. Unfortunately the game did not start off well for them. After a pitch invasion stunned half the team Plague of the Northern Wastes was able to score a TD in only two turns.

It looked like things might be turning the Mummies way when they got the ref. However, two turns later the Plague scored again, making it 2-0 only four turns into the game.

After setting up a wall of defenders, a nifty run and pass by Imhotep left Redjit with the ball and only one defender to beat. Blitzing his way into the endzone, Redjit made the game 2-1.

What looked like a blowout in the first half turned into a close game toward the end of the second half. Down 3-2 a poorly placed kick, and a poorly thought out defensive strategy, enabled the Plague to get the ball deep into the Mummies half of the field. Lacking the speed to get to the ball, the disgruntled Mummies set about blocking and fouling while the Plague got their final TD for a 4-2 win.

Even though the result was a loss there were several awards handed out after the game. Redjit got the first Canopic Coffin of his career (though the Plague's apothecary was able to rescue Shelagh) and Aha his second for killing Heartfang. Clavicle and Femur both received their first Statues of Seth for successful fouls.
