A difficult game for us against the teams we felt would push us the most this season (hence why we used the rings power against them). The game was one of risky plays (and some down right stupid ones) and up and down dice.

We started the game receiving - however, the undead blitzed to start the game and we were in trouble. We had a chance to surf Quick Sand II (71 spp wight), but Gutsplitter failed his bonehead roll...due to the blitz we were forced to make an awful lot of 1d blocks in the first few turns and the result was we quickly depleted our small reserve of team RRs. We finally managed to surf Quick Sand and raced up the sidelines...but the count came tearing back and pushed our catcher (6 dice, no POW)...however, pinned against the sidelines, the catcher failed his dodge and the count took the ball. Captain Thingol after already badly hurting a mummy blitzed the count and badly hurt him as well. Things were looking up, but we just could not quite string together enough rolls to get the ball forward. In the end, it came down to a 3+ pass to a catcher...but it was fumbled by the AG 4 blitzer and the half ended shortly after 0-0.

Neither side got any KOs back (which benefited us as his star wight stayed out), but we were kicking. Attempting to remove some humans, Swamp Lord (Mummy) RRed a push result on a blitz to get a POW...but that meant no RR left for a double skulls...and the ball had not been secured. This gave us a chance and very quickly we pushed forward - Captain Aidan (AG 4 blitzer) picked up the ball in a tackle zone and managed to dodge away and hide behind some friends...it looked good, but the undead manufactured a 1d blitz for a POW. Ball was loose, but a foul killed Swamp Lord (but the experienced Mummy regenerated)...the ball was recovered - then another 1d bltiz for a POW and it was loose. They came a blitz by Thingol with no RR against the sidestepping ghoul - really a major point in the game, 0-0 still, both sides running low on players - a push result and odds were good the undead could score or at the very least make sure of a draw. However, Thingol was skilled at tackle and came up big once again - KOing the ghoul and sealing the game. Aidan grabbed the ball and walked into the endzone - a brutally hard fought game.

Thanks for the game. I think I was still right that the Minions of the Swamp are the second best team in Mordor - hence our use of the rings. Well played and see you in Two Towers!

Fellowship of Mordor III - Round 7 (final round)

Needed at least a draw to get into battle vs freeworld... So hired the Count for the 1st time in this Fellowship league. The handicaps were buzzing and palmed coin for Azure.

Of course, Nuffle had other ideas for me as I couldn't roll a splat with two dice... or even three (Count vs catcher all pushes with reroll!).

With both coaches not seemingly playing their best game it felt like nothing could go right for my team. Feeling rather dispirited about this, but hey... Azure was the one who contributed to my -3 at the start of the season so I should be pleased with the progress I made back up the table... but I certainly fell heavily at the last.

Before I knew it the Count and a Mummy was BH, and things were looking bleak.

Ah well... Only chance for a ring lays in Two Towers... so we'll see how that goes.

Was a tough game to take, but kudos to Azure on the win... now beat up them Freeworlders!
