“Despite the luck of getting a blitz on the first kick off, my opponent's star player fanatic falling over at the beginning of his turn, and my scoring a touchdown on the first proper turn, the game was not exactly plain sailing. Numerous chances were wasted on unlucky dodge rolls and some silly play (trying to get a two dice block on a troll, f'rinstance - it worked, he was KO'd, but did kinda tie up lots of players that could have spread out to contain a cage!).

Second half seemed to seal the deal, although I was playing a little better, the dice were not with me. Two linemen died, and I didn't touch the apothecary just in case my gutter runners carked it; on second thoughts I regret this, because although I got rid of a niggling injury on one, I only went and got the bloody mvp on one of my dead players. *sigh* Anyway, my erstwhile opponent bashed the ball out of my hands and scored another touchdown, but was gracious enough to give me the slim chance of a two turn equaliser. Since two gutter runners were out of commission it was a hard slog, but I just managed to bash a linemen up to the endzone and long pass - with my final team reroll - from my gutter runner.

So, despite my rather battered team, and the fact that my opponent had meant to play my other, slightly worse (and more equal) skaven team, it was a good match, with some very comedy moments, and it showed me what a clever coach can do with goblins! It was also somewhat satisfying to manage to score in the first turn and the last, if, admittedly, not in-between...”
