“In a close match the Rodents left the field of play victorious following the only means of being able to seperate a fairly even match up - the dreaded coin toss! Prior to that event the game featured pretty much everything you'd want from a Blood Bowl match. Plenty of touchdowns, an abundance of casaulties, missed opportunites, a gutter runner that refused to hit the deck (easily walking away with the Man of the Match award) and thralls that have finally learned how to bash were all evident in a match that constantly swung in one coaches favour and then to the other as each sprinted to the finishing line before tripping over there own feet. Glourious stuff!

The rodents should have won it in the final turn of the match, after crafting a real enterprising opportunity based on guile and speed only for a lineman failing to catch the ball whilst standing in the endzone. Such a guilt edged opportunity seemed to have cost them as they lined up in overtime with only seven players left on the pitch. But with the Blood Pool's scared to death of a gutter runner (Ebi Smolarek) that just wouldn't drop to the floor and lineman that made successfull plays on sheer bloody-mindedness (two successful two block dice against the Skaven player, one resulting in a double POW, had been successfully rolled, on Vampire's no less) forced an early touchdown and with Ebi Smolarek still roving the backline, the Vamps were relying on defence and a hint of luck to take the victory. Alas, the defence failed and lady luck was too busy picking her nose to provide any viable assistance.

A draw was a fair reflection of the game, although with the chance at the end of the second half the Rodents just edged it. They go into the next round with only ten players available, but with Smolarek on smoldering form and Dawid Janczyk returning from injury, they're still a massive scoring threat! For the Vamps, it was a decent enough performance. Causing more casaulties in this one game than they managed in the entire league season at least put a smile on coach Clownfoot's face, and with the Thralls starting to develop from mere chumps into able performers, there maybe more to come at the beginning of next season.”
