#2 Dain Ironfoot – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#2 Dain Ironfoot – Smashed Knee (NI)
Lonely Mountain Luckers 0-3 Recrudescence Of Vanyar
PERFIDY!. Alas my dour brethren I have to report yet again a betrayal at the hands of our nemesis the foul elfkind. Lulled by their pre game promises of a fair fight and a post game ale we sought only to partake in a fair fight ( Fralin’s knuckledusters aside but then being a Slayer he sings to his own tune) Little were we to know that the pre match meal provided the cover for the dwarven armour forged in the Halls of Khazad-Harn to be substituted for that of elven make. Indeed a foul spell was cast on our own armour disguising its appearance enabling it to be worn by our shameless opponents. This can be the only possible explanation for our continued inability to penetrate the stuff and wreak havoc on the squishy elf bodies beneath.

The first sign that things were amiss (aside from the absence of Gimli on some quest of his own) was the foul treatment of Fralin at the end of the first turn. While myself and my comrades were gathering around the ball he recklessly charged at the Elves stumbling under the boots of several where the very breath was beaten from his body. Fortunately Azkhan the magnificent our resident medical man rushed to his rescue and revived him.nevertheless this shocking behaviour was to have an effect upon us for the remainder of the game. So disheartened were we at the depths of depravity to which the formerly noble pointy eared ones had fallen, that our resistance dissipated like the beer at a Dwarven feast. Thror was removed from the game while the blackhearted referee turned his back and counted his 30 pieces of silver. Our disgrace was complete when Dain Ironfoot failed to rise to his esteemed name suffering a fractured leg which Azkhan fears may end his career.

The score mattered little my friends for again the battle of the moral high ground was ours and even the elves seemed shamefaced by the manner of their victory. We must now regroup, sharpen our swords, buff up our gauntlets and prepare for battle again.

Well what can I say the chants of are you Halflings in disguise from the elven fans said it all. We couldn’t block for toffee let alone break armour, while our armour had clearly shrunk in the wash. Fantastic fun though and very cinematic with suicidal slayers, nimble elves and a noble yet futile effort from the dwarves. As to the fouling I’ve never had strong feelings one way or the other but I’m starting to really enjoy it even when I’m on the receiving end! I think it really adds to the “colour” of the game. Lets face it this was Elves v Dwarves for heck’s sake, ask yourself What would Legolas do? :D

Lonely Mountain Luckers 0 - 3 Recrudescence of Vanyar

Dear Vanyar,

Great news! Our recent victory over the repulsive Dwarves has ensured that we will once again represent the Freeworld in the Fellowship Quest for the rings of Eregion!

The Dwarves were to be a real test for our new combat skills, but they were not interested in meeting us on even ground, and opted to secret some Knuckledusters onto the field and we had it on good authority that they had bribed the referee.

Couple all of this with some unseemly dissent amongst our ranks that reduced us to an effective eleven we knew we had to counter their underhand tactics and therefore saw to it that throughout the game we intimidated the residing official to ensure that our fouls went unchallenged… yes, we lowered ourselves to their standard, no minor feet when comparing yourself to a 4 foot dwarf!

The game began with them receiving and their Troll Slayer recklessly hurled himself headlong into our ranks, unassisted, whilst the remainder of the Dwarves held back. He would soon regret that decision as we put him to the floor and ganged upon him, save for the intervention of the Apothecary his slaying days would have been over too!

Soon enough we had the Dwarves on the back foot, beating them at their own game, ploughing them down and sending their foul specialist out of the battle. We collected the ball and held up the whole half before scoring.

Our turn to receive and the Dwarves lined 5 of their number on the LOS, a tactic that might have intimidated most Elves, but not us! We lined seven against them with a mind to decimate their ranks! A couple blunders from our troops however foiled our plan but the Dwarves were still unable to capitalise, cursing their Gauntlets for failing to even dent our impregnable armour that had been fortified by our hearts!

Our annihilation of them was swift and we scored quickly, eager to get back out on the field and send a message to the whole of Middle Earth by scoring a third, and alas they was nought the diminutive stunts could do to prevent it - we had bested them in every facet of the battle, we excelled at everything, and they succeeded in nothing!

And so it will remain until the Rings of Eregion are ours!

Our next battle is against those of Gondor, our chosen partners for the Two Towers. But we will be mindful of what occurred the last time they battled a team that they allied with!

Regards,
Tarius!

Tim was outgunned in a big way in this game (51 TS); with his Dwarves not capable of stacking up against us in the blocking game (Thanks to agile Guard and ST4) he had little room to do anything at all, especially since he struggled to even break armour never mind follow up with a CAS.

GTR throughout all the game helped even if on the main it produced mainly stuns, it meant I kept his active numbers down, and with his DP removed early he didn’t even have anything effective to reply with.

A very fun game and Tim never lost heart despite me fouling him long after the game was decided… well, dead dorfs CAS even less than Tim’s Dorfs… presumably. :)

GL rest of the Season Tim.
