“GLT IV Oldest Team Qualifier Round 1!

Luck readings out and replay file might not work. I was playing from a lousy internet connection that dropped out about 4 times.

Handicaps were:

I Am the Greatest (106 SPP DP sat out the match)
Illegal Drugs (+Str to a Mighty Blow Tackle Blitzer)
Knuckledusters (given to Block Tackle Lino)
Doom and Gloom
Virus

Some awesome handicaps for the Horde, with 3 great Guardian players (106 SPP, 91 SPP and 51 SPP) taking no part in the match.

However they needed some more luck still in this mismatch as they only came into the game with 12 players themselves, one a Gobbo!

It looked like it could be the Horde's day when the Guardians fluffed their pass (snakes) early on before getting in a foul on a tackler, however it was false hope for the Horde as their DP got sent off and two players got KO'd as the Guardians recovered for a quick score.

On the next drive, the Horde's Str4 Blow Tackler was still KOd and the Guardians were able to swing forward and steal the ball once more to score again though thanks to a 1 on the pickup, they were not willing to risk a cheekly skill up of their rookie Lino as well as their 15 SPP Wardancer at the same time with a pass.

A deep kick on the last turn of the first half prevented the Horde from a TTM reply.

In the second half, the Horde started in offence, and got their Gobbo sent off on a foul on the first turn - ouch!. After some fighting over the ball, they managed to push it deep with their Str4 player. The Guardians managed to get a 2 dice blitz on him, but couldn't down him, and on the following turn, he got the push and then 3+ dodge to escape for a TD to peg the score back.

On the Guardians next drive, they advanced forward with their Rookie, leaving him exposed and he was SI MNG. The Guardians decided not to risk using their apoth even though there was only 3-4 turns left in the game. On the other hand, the Horde had used their apoth on a SI MNG on their Tackle Lino and could do nothing as their DP was niggled with a foul (ouch).

The Guardians held off with the ball and scored on T16 with a Lineman rather than their 48 SPP Catcher in case he aged, but Nuffle awarded him the MVP anyway (but he made the aging roll - phew!).

So a 3-1 result, with two players skilled up, and the rookie MNG. Should have risked the pass in hindsight and had him ready as a DP for round 3 if I make it.

Dadoz played a valiant game, but there was not much for him to do today with the rolls on my side. He got the right handicaps to give him a chance, but his early foul and getting his best player KOd and not waking up on the next drive handed me the game on a platter.
