“FUMBBL SMACK Rookie CCCXXXI Final
Handicaps were Iron Man, which meant my catch fling stuck around all game for ttms, and Doom & Gloom, which was totally useless.
First half the dorfs received in the pouring rain. I managed to knock the ball loose with a 1db after some risky dodging, picked up in a TZ with a 5, and ran away to score in turn 7. Some huge luck for me, 1-0 at half time.
However, I had started to take heavy casualties from the block/tackle combo, and my own drive stalled early in the 2nd half. The dorfs picked up and ran in for the score in turn 8, but they had a big advantage after putting Deeproot in the BH box.
I started OT with only two tress and two flings, so decided that the TTM was my only option. Everything came good and I scored after burning a rr on the landing. 2-1.
I now had to face 8 turns of bash, and it duly came arrived. The kick-off helped in that it pinned the dorfs back in their own endzone, and although they ran the length of the pitch pretty much uncontested, it took them until turn 6. 2-2.
Coach HolyG decided to play for the win rather than risk the coin flip. I once again set up for the TTM, as with only two turns to play and him having no rr's to my two, I felt I was in the box seat. I caught the ball straight form the kick-off, but the game was held up for injury time (unsurpisingly due to all the fling juice on the pitch...). I handed off to my iron man catcher without any problems, but the disaster struck as I got skull/skull rr'd to skull/pow-skull when trying to clear my treeman for the throw. My meagre band of players were duly swamped, and it looked like curtains. However, I was saved by the dorfs failing some pickup rolls when most needed, and the game ended 2-2.
I lost it on the coin flip but have no complaints. I got very lucky in the first half with the break-away score, and then got bashed to bits for the rest of the match. I think a draw was the right result in the end, and the whole game was crazy fun from start to finish.
Gratz to coach HolyG on winning the smack, I hope to catch you for a rematch sometime mate - with loads of dps on both teams :D

Ok the handicaps weren't great but man... all the chefs stole the re rolls - a whole game without didn't bode well !!
I got off to a great start but stalled when the Trees got in amongst us, meaning his crazy 5 6 5 6 dodging combinations gave him a 1 dice - dodge block leaving the ball open for a 5+ pick up... he got it of course and by this time I was already thinking self harming would be fun, I raced back but to no avail the damage was done leaving me 1-0 and gloomy.
Second half I had to kick, we were taking hurt to him big time and just tried to do get some damage done, the big sacrifice a foul on Deeproot - 'fair swap' and he limped of the pitch crying cos' his shins hurts, and poor little hobgoblin 'innocent' got the blame, we managed to break his line and grapple the ball into the hand of a little one, who pondered slowly up the pitch making it a cool 1-1 - but his numbers severely down.
XT... Saw me gloomy with in instant TTM ' Dont ya just love those cocky little sneaks....' 2-1.
Instantly we were into kicking him hard and we broke through and scored at turn 6 making it .....2-2. I was considering the stall but thought fair enough lets give the gutzy buggers another change to TTM... but this time he failed, anf finally only a failed hand off to a chaos dwarf stopped me winning out right, he promply fumbled it back to the guy giving him it...who in traditional fumbbl style said ' Thank you ill have it back !!' and caught it on oooo surprise the '4' that the chaos dwarf should have rolled.
A game of high, lows and gasps of exasperation....
End result 2-2
**Winning a smack by a dice roll isn't cool but I do feel it was a fair reflection of the game.
