What a remarkable day it was at Diggly Field! Corrupted Dwarves versus Diseased Beastmen in a disgusting pitched battle!

The game started off with the Industrial Diggers kicking off to the Gateway City Garbagemen. Apparently the Diggers were feeling their oats as they jumped on the Rotters in a Blitz! The line of scrimmage locked up in a tight rumble as the Bulls Mahindra and Caterpillar chased down Edwin Edwards, who had come up with the ball. Mahindra knocked him down, but was then knocked down in turn by Luke LeClaire! The thunder of feet and hooves heralded a run up the middle, and Luke just managed to squeeze by Mahindra and Marl for the first touchdown of the match!

The Garbagemen then kicked off, and almost managed to score again as the Diggers fell over themselves in their rush to handle the ball. Just one handoff would have made it... but it was not to be, and Marl, the Elven Hob, dove for the ball and knocked himself out just in time for the whistle to end the half.

Fortunately for the Diggers, Marl was roused in time for the second half, as he played a key part! He retrieved the kickoff and tossed a nice, clean pass to... a Chaos Dwarf! This might seem unusual, folks, but the Diggers have been known to use their blockers as runners in the past. As luck would have it, SkyTrak didn't have as much success as his teammate Bonny in their last match - what could have been a game-tying handoff to Keuper slipped out of the Hob's grasp.

The Garbagemen tried to retrieve the ball, but were too far away, and the Diggers wasted no time in crying over spilt Dwarf sweat. Mahindra risked his life and sanity blitzing the Beast, Jamaal "The Mayor" San Luis, and pushed it onto the ball. In a flurry of tentacles, the ball flew up, then right back down into Mahindra's hands! The Bull stepped free of the blockers and hoped The Mayor would not rise again.

The Garbagemen rushed Mahindra and surrounded him, but couldn't manage to knock him down. Caterpillar ran hopefully into the end zone, hoping Mahindra could get free... and amazingly, he did! SkyTrak made up for his blown handoff earlier by clearing Kirby Kirkwood from the Bull's path, and Mahindra fled the outstretched hands of three Beastmen!

Mahindra's hooves were heavy on the pitch as he approach the end zone, and horribly, a broken helmet spike lodged in his hoof, and he fell at the goal line, fumbling the ball... right into Caterpillar's hands for a touchdown! It couldn't have gone better if they'd planned it that way!

With the score tied but still quite a bit of time on the clock the Garbagemen set up to receive the kickoff, confident they could bash their way to a score. But the Diggers' playbook was, if not creative, quite effective, and they managed yet another blitz!

With Bull Centaurs all over the backfield and the line of scrimmage an impenetrable melee it looked like the Garbagemen were in trouble. They stuck to their game, though, and never gave up... and finally managed to break free of the Bulls and Hobs that had surrounded them! They made a break for midfield, with Alton Acevedo and Kirby Kirkwood lining up for a classic sideline handoff... but there were too many Bulls and Dwarves in the way, and it ended up being a final, desperation play.

Alton showed off uncommon agility and got to within two paces of Kirby, who was covered by Marl. Alton lined up a pass, and it went toward Kirby cleanly... but Marl showed why he earned his nickname, and neatly picked the pass out of the air to just as the whistle blew! What a play!

And that's how the game ended a 1-1 tie. Both teams played their hearts out, and had some amazing stumbles and remarkable plays. Congrats to both coaches, and see you next time!
