#12 Bartleia III – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#15 Calyptotis III – Dead (RIP)
A 'split-round' match in many ways.

First half was all Lizards. Eremius picked up the loose ball deep in his own half and went all the way for the score, though Snorri ensured it wasn't easy.

Second-half was all elf-stalling, until a couple of KOs and an apo'd RIP scared Irradiated Universe over the line in the elf's final turn.

3 votes: Irradiated universe: dodged, ducked, dipped, ducked and dived his way across the field and back again not daring to step over into the end zone. Even blitzed away a diving tackler and still stalled.

2 votes; Netherborn's Flight: stood toe-to-toe with the Sauri and used his ST to give the elfs a numbers advantage elsewhere on the field.

1 vote: Archaic Angstrom: used his mobility to good effect.

#13 Bound by the Bucket III – Broken Ribs (MNG)
With the world cup heating up, the fans were never going to be ignited by this one. The crowd was so apathetic, we sent them home at halftime and postponed the game, hoping for a better turnout on the weekend. Wasn't to be - and it was reflected in the post match synopsis....although no-one can offer a reason why. Where is the blood in the world cup? The leaping and the intimidating risk to save the game by prostrating yourself before a kroxigor (Netherborn's Flight)? Baffling...

Back to the game - the lads had their chances, but fluffed them while the reptiles clanged their iron balls, took some big risks (they had to against a better side on paper) and pulled them off in fine form!

First play, the seekers tore down the field on a blitz, only to be dumbfounded after a big fella (saurus) dared to pick up the ball just two squares from his own td line! The resulting roar from the reptiles savagely tore into the seekers, ripping apart their best players and leaving them in no real position to stop the touchdown (they did get one chancy shot, but were still in shock at seeing deft hands on a saurus, and subsequently miffed that too).

Nevertheless, the pressure left them two turns to equalise before half time. The boys were all set up with a simple pass from their star Archaic Angstrom, but he'd fallen into such a rage at seeing a saurii do the job so well, he accidentally tried throwing the ball at the offending lizard instead of his teammate.

So, down 1-0 at half time, looking at getting humiliated by the new kids on the block, the seekers came out refocused and played brilliant football to hold position and numbers midway through the second half. With the tough run through the latter half of the season looming and points already on the board, it was a good chance to have one of those rare and beautiful things - a soft half.

The reptiles weren't done yet though - turn 5 and two ko's saw them hassling the elves hard. They never gave up, though they did fall for a crowdsurfing bait in turn 6 to ease the pressure considerably. Still, it wasn't enough and the seekers got home for a draw and escaped injury yet again!

3pts : #5 Eremius
Brilliantly gutsy (foolish?) pickup to save the lizards after a blitz right on the kickoff.

2pts : #1 Thin Lizzie
Big smackdown on the seekers' beefcake. Something's wrong though - the apoth has found the knack again!

1pt : #4 Euprepio
First half he was a real handful, and start of second half too. Punched holes everywhere.
