#13 Tobai – Smashed Knee (NI)
This was to be a celebration - my 100th ranked game on FUMBBL. Instead it turned out to be a very close (at least for a while) game with some nervewrecking, somethime nightmarish moments along the way. The game saw the Berserkers kick off, and due to all the excitement of actually finding a game with my favourite Chaos representatives, I set up in a very weird fashion: as if I was the one receiving... Anyway, the less than optimal defensive setup slowed the Berserkers move down the pitch even though I had the Beast and two other players KO'd in the first two turns. Then the break came! Tobai blitzed in and killed Gehrcke who was standing next to the ball carrier (the apo could do nothing...)and put some pressure on. However, shortly afterwards Turkey Deamon, outraged by the slaughter of his friend, retaliated by killing Yulukai only to see him rise again in the dug out. The march towards the endzone continued, and a TD was actually in the bag, but Set_Arkos chose to wait it out instead of taking two LOS bashings with possible returns from the KO box. The strategy seemed to work as the KO'd bad boys stayed put.

At the start of the second half things were not looking up. Outnumbered and with some of the best players missing the game was looking lost. When the pick up failed in spite of sure hands the initiative went to the Orcs, and sure enough they were soon in possesion. However, a blitz knocked the ball loose and a sucessful dodge to freedom and a (this time successful) pick up later Kuran was running for his life down the pitch. The only player in blitz range was a thrower, until I pushed a blitzer in range as well...hehe. Luck was with me though, and the Orc fell just a few feet away from the stressed out Kuran. A blitz later and it was 1-0.

The Berserkers replied swiftly with a TD against the outnumbered Growth. Still, chances for a winning TD for the Growth was not out of the question, if only some heavy artllery would return from the dug out. Which it didn't. But that was not the worst part. Set_Arkos, the Waaagh magician, managed to conjure up a pitch invasion as the Growth was getting ready for heroic deeds. Chances were now less than slim of tying the game, and even less of winning it. Desperate defense moves were of course uneffective. Noru, aware of the occasion, threw the ball downfield for the clumsy Orcs to try and pick up - a pure delaying action. The Orcs grabbed the ball, no sweat. Laughing, they started trotting downfield to end this silly game. The handoff was made to Makdur, the star runner. The TD was just waiting to happen. But, wait! Makdur had spotted an Orcish groupie in the crowd and was winking and waving in a very suave way, completely ignoring the ball. The reamaing Growth scrambled to action, and as they got their bearings they saw that the game was safe - A TIE! Out of pure joy, Noru blitzed a lone thrower who was picking his nose, sending him straight to the hospital. All was calm, all was good. But again disaster struck! The tired head coach had miscalculated: the TD was still possible! The remaining Orcs ganged up on Noru, who once again eluded death, and then turned to the TD. The remaining thrower easily grabbed the ball and handed it to Makdur again, but again Makdur was distracted by the Orcish beauty in the crowd. The ball dropped on the ground. The game was over.

Epilogue: As Makdur made his way up to the stands after the game to find his dreamgirl he got a funny feeling. Something was not quite right. As he arrived to where she had been standing, waving and looking at him so lovingly, he found nothing but an old Orc suit surrounded by some greenish brown slime and large glistening flies.
