“CoS round 1, Dwarves vs Dwarves.

Little did I know how crazy this game was going to be, but it ended up high up there on the list of bizarre matches I have played in.

First half (with me receiving), the Runner fails everything, pick-ups, dodges ... he even manages to get himself injured on a dodge! I did try some crazy stuff with the Roller, but it seems Break Tackle and Diving Tackle are bugged, adding to my frustrations. By half time I was 0-1 down and I'd had 4 of my players injured and as only able to line up 11 for the second half because a bribe kept the roller in game.

However, half time arrives and in steps the cavalry (AKA Nuffle). Not all of malitrius's players returned from KO and his roller had been sent off first foul, with a bribe failing. very quickly into the half Red Snow lost a coupe more players and suddenly it was the Miners who were controlling the field. The Miner's roller had been steadily taking out player and soon enough the Miners had the ball back. malitrius made an excellent play to down the ball carrier in T16, but Nuffle carried the miners home with a pile of rolls which allowed them to score for 1-1.

Into extra time and there was some initial confusion as the ref had forgotten to send off the roller (who was promptly placed in the naughty corner). Nuffle had already continued the bizarre trend of the game by not allowing Red Snow's KOs back, but he decided it would be fun if he not only hit one of their Dwarves with a rock (SI) on kick off, but also dumped the ball into the arms of one of their confused Longbeards.

Given the weight of numbers (as well as the confused Longbeard looking for someone to take the ball off him), it was only a matter of time before the Miners took back the ball and with it, the win.

The game was certainly a roller-coaster, as I went from the depths of dispair (4 players out early), to frustration (Break Tackle bugs) and eventually into disbelief as the game swung my way. These emotions must have been similar for malitrius who had the win stolen away from him, despite playing a very solid game.
