#5 Ron Meyers – Broken Ribs (MNG)
My opponent summarized the game pretty well, so not a lot more to add here.

In the end, I think the game was decided by a couple of plays:
1) the great chain pushes-blitz set up by Azure that lead to the 1-1 score;
2) the touchback at the end of second half - I know it's only a few percent odds to have it happen, but next time I will kick 4 square from sideline - lesson learned.

Despite the OT mess, the win went to the coach that mostly deserved it.
Congrats again for the RRR win, Azure.

#8 Chester – Broken Jaw (MNG)
RRR Finals:
An epic match. We received in the first half and everything fell apart quickly - we were setting up our protection when a bull failed his only gfi. With the bull stunned - the elves were able to blitz and get through...we could recover though - with a 3/4ths cage and a pickup and gfis, our other bull had some protection. That did not hold up though - as the elves 1d blitz him for the POW. A battle followed, but the elves - not surprisingly came away with the ball and then scored...leaving us only 2 turns. We made a go of it - moving some hobgoblins downfield followed by a bull - unfortunately yet again the bull snaked the gfi. No RR and longshot chance on T8, we still almost had it, slipped a hobgoblin to the endzone, raced forward and handed off to another hobgoblin - threw a perfect pass...only to fail the 3+ catch...so close...but the half ended 0-1.

The second half we were desperate - kicking off to 11 elves (we did not remove a single elf from the pitch in the first half) and down...it was trouble. However, the elf thrower dropped deep in his territory - thinking he was safe, but we executed a series of chain pushes and freed our bull to blitz down the thrower...the ball was free, but elves ran back to knock down our bull...another turn of chain pushes to free our other bull and the two bull combined to steal the ball and score for the 1-1 tie. Plenty of time remained, but things suddenly looked great for us as we got a blitz on the kickoff and our bull raced over and caught the ball...our joy was shortlived as the elves stole the ball away. Finally, out of RRs, we needed a 3+ dodge to get the 2d blitz on the ball to stop the score...but failed the dodge and the elves scored to make it 1-2 with 2 turns left. We got a RR on the kickoff and the kickoff was a touchback even with the kick skill. We gave it to our bull and charged downfield - 3 gfis by hobgoblins (had to use that RR we just got) gave us a flimsy shield...but would force a lot of dodges by the elves to get at our bull...it proved enough as the elves finally failed some dodges and we walked in for the 2-2 score at the end of regulation.

Overtime, we received the ball and gradually pushed upfield...a bit tired one of our blocker missed seeing a tackle zone and tripped and broke his jaw...leaving our bull open to a 1d block - which was a POW. The ball was loose and really it was anyone's game at this point. No RRs, all the elves needed were a few 2+ rolls to dodge away, pickup the ball, pass it, dodge away - and like many elf games, they would fly down the field and score. However, fortunately for our side - the elves could not complete all the 2+ rolls they needed and we managed to block the ball free and a bull raced in and scored to gain the victory 3-2.

A really good quality game - some wacky dice and decisions both coaches regret making I am sure. Well dice were terrible for us in the first half - our AG 3 bulls made the critical pickups when it mattered most.

Thanks for the game!
