“So after much anticipation the Anvils finally took to the field against the greatly fancied BC San-Nuffle. The newly promoted and only recently professional Anvils wanted to make sure of a good first game so hired star player and notorious Hacker Flint Churnblade, a Wizard, an apothecary, bribed the ref and also paid for extra training.
Team Captain Stevie "IronFist" G won the toss and decided to receive for the first drive. Flint took to the pitch to help thin out the opposing numbers.
As the game kicked off the elves seemed to magically rearrange themselves into a far more attacking formation.
Skrtelsson lived up to his nick "DeathMountain" and in the first tackle of the game went in hard on the number 2 breaking his neck (-ag) the apoth could only offer to put Yo-Hands out of his misery but head coach ryanfitz declined.
Suarezasson grabbed the ball and the Anvils prepared to soak up the pressure.
Hugo danced past longbeards and into the Anvil cage and stunned Suarezasson freeing up the ball. Flint instantly ran over to deal with the threat and flanagan ko'd the dangerous Bou-Bou.
Andy Carollsson ran in to collect the loose ball but couldn't even with 2 attempts, this new aquisition still finding his feet in the Anvils side.
with the ball loose Bobert got some revenge on "DeathMountain" stunning him into the ball which bounced nicely into elves possession.
The Anvils could only respond by putting pressure on the elves with Flint going to work on unlucky number 13 for a badly hurt.
The remaining elves skipped away and the elusive Hugo Naught ran deep looking dangerous. The Anvils again pressurised the elves with both Blitzers man marking Hugo Naught. It wasn't enough though, and with some elven flair Blaze threw to Hugo Naught who skipped away to score.
The ref then signed his own death warrant when he ignored the sizeable bribe and gave Flint a straight red instead of the customary yellow for use of a chainsaw.
The Anvils trailing 1-0 now listened to their influential team Captain. "IronFist" started pumping everyone up "We don't need no Merc to beat these Elves, comeon guys just like in training Cage, Grind and Soak up that Pressure.
It might not be pretty but it's effective. We're the ANVILS!!"
Suarezasson grabbed the ball and the Anvils did what they do best Caged up smacking any elves they could in the face. They saw an opening and dived down the wing, well ambled.
Then the inevitable first mistake from the Anvils Jose "SafeGauntlets" who misjudged his blitz for 1 die but luck was with the Anvils and he got the pow.
As the cage rumbled on BC San-Nuffle attacked Kuyt And Jay and after flooring both stamped on Jay KO-ing him only to have a man sent off. This enraged the "DeathMountain" who Blitzed the dangerous number 5 permanently robbing him of enough strength to be a threat. The second big mistake from the Anvils then came by not sufficiently caging up around Suarezasson leaving him open to a easy blitz late in the half.
BC San-Nuffle took full advantage powing the over eager Suarezzasson and freeing up the ball but a kind bounce of the ball and professional ankle tap from Jamie Carragherson allowed Stevie "IronFist" G to run deep collecting a simple pass from Suarezasson to score. The game finely hung at 1-1.
The elves had a chance at scoring with a final move of the half but a very slight misjudgement of forgetting to use the newly aquired team reroll put pay to that attempt.

Second half with the elves receiving but severely lacking numbers the dorfs prepared themselves for a quick score. The predominantly elvish crowd KO-d Suarezasson with a well placed rock but the apoth used smelling salts to keep him on the pitch. The elven catchers quickly ran deep ready to pounce on any dorf errors and collect any telling passes for the score. The Anvils tho stuck to what they know best, dealing with the pressure by applying their own.
with plenty of tackle zones the dorfs were going to force the elves to roll dice in order to score. The elves needed to go for it through the Anvils ranks to score. The Super elf Hugo Naught started skipping down field through tackle zones to score, however just as he was about to pass downfield to set up the score Glen Johnsonasson stuck out a foot and ineveitable snakes robbed the elves of their chance. After this huge slice of good fortune the dorfs quickly took control. Caging the prone ball with team captain Stevie "IronFist" picking up the loose ball surrounded by the Anvil team. Jose "SafeGauntlets" took one for the team as he proffessionally fouled Hugo trying to get him out of the game, but the Ref gave him a straight red before he could do any damage.
The elves rallied but could only get back into position leaving the anvils cage to amble up field. Then Hugo Naught a constant thorn in the Anvils dived into the cage but could only shove Stevie G.
Anvils responded by just grinding up field but with plenty of team rerolls left Jamie Carragherson decided on thumping Hugo Naught in the face permanently removing his threat from the field with a one dice.
This set back didn't disrupt the elvish plans. The number 11 trying to dive into the cage once again.
This time however the cage stayed strong leaving Jean-Luc on the deck.
After this the Anvils were in complete control caged ready to score they just ran down the clock. Jumping on the heads of any elves in range surfing where possible and generally guaranteeing the team Captain was gonna score his second. Suarezasson got sent off for a professional foul but Jay did enough just to keep Jean-Luc permanently stunned. The wizard wasn't enough to put pay to the threat of Blaze Ma-Tudi but his last ditch effort at breaking the anvils cage failed. Leaving the Anvils and Captain Stevie "IronFist Gerrardasson the easiest of scores.
