“Yeah, I was not having happy thoughts about this match up with the Norse having a s5 Ulf and a s4 Berzerker and both of my troll slayers out. Part way through the first half, it was clear that this was going to be one of those games where plays just go wrong for everyone.
Fearful of his frenzy, and lacking my own, I try to stay out of the wide zones, but I'm only partially successful. Fortunately I was able to chainpush his beast of an Ulf into the crowd first (guard, guard everywhere). Ironically, the only one of my guys to get surfed was my runner that never got to catch the ball in the endzone.
I was not feeling good at the start of the second half when I hadn't scored, and both of my runners are out. So I think to my self, "I still have my ag4 blitzer, time to pull some crazy ball plays with dwarfs."
Blitz! Just what I needed. The Norse fails the ball pick up, more just what I needed. The second half then devolves into a series of horrible, horrible fails for both of us.
Never has there been a more deserving MVP than to Cog Crimsoncrystal. After the match he skilled up with doubles and I almost gave him catch to commemorate the event.”

They win cointoss and choose to receive first. They get the ball on a runner and cage up. We try to steer the cage onto one side of the field in hopes of crowdsurfing. This kinda goes badly and only my ST5 ulfwerener gets surfed :D. By their turn 5 the dwarves have five norse players removed from the field and I'm struggling with their guardbox. They make a run for it on a runner T6, but I manage to get him down with a 1d blitz. They manage to pick it again with a runner, only to fail a dodge and get knocked out. They fail a pass to the finishline on T8 and I get to crowdpush their runner to badly hurt! Half 1 ends 0-0.
2nd half starts with 8 norse vs 9 dwarves on field. They get a blitz! and get their positioning right. I fail pickup on my next turn and start to feel the heat as a lot of dwarves come swarming over my side of the field. I get the ball up, but my ulfwerener gets seriously injured the turn after. I use apo and he got all well again, but I'm in a serious pickle at the start of my turn 3. I'm forced to make a desperate pass move but fail the catch. They get the ball up on a blitzer, I get a blitz on him but cant get him down. My players make some fine dodging and I get another blitz on the BC but still can't get him down. Finally he blocks himself down with a doubleskull \o/. The game gets into a struggle and we keep trying to get players around the ball so that they couldn't pick it up. They roll another crucial double 1 and turnover on their turn 7. They manage to pass to a longbeard on their turn 8, a well deserved score :)
This game had a lot of failure for dwarves. Still, all game I was thinking: I'm lucky if I get a tie from this one :P. They failed a LOT of crucial plays and that nearly made the game 0-0. Well done for that longbeard who caught the ball on turn 8, they made him MVP! :P
