“GLT Forlorn Qualifier round 1
We started off getting our heads bashed in, but the decision to use the wizard early and some poor blocking by the lizzies helped me get a 1-0 lead.
The lizards had 2 turns left to score and I managed to knock down the ballcarrier, only to have a saurus blitz, dodge (break tackle) and pick up the ball to run in a T8 1-1. TTM attempt failed on a GFI for the handoff, so we go to the second half on 1-1.
My players had been flying off at pretty much every block, so I started to run down on players pretty soon. Another saurus pickup decided the match. Down to 3 players there was nothing left for me to do.
Another chapter in a long string of first round dicings in majors qualies.
Luckily this one came against a pleasant opponent, who never bitched about getting shafted early on, so we wish spinball the best of luck in the rest of the tournament.”

After picking up the ball, and advancing to midfield we suffered our worst luck. On a 1 dice block we lost a Saurus to a Smashed Hip, our apothecary was dispatched only to find out if he were to assist it would end The Scourge's life. Figuring being slow is better then being dead (and I would know) he was sent to the SI box. Then on my next turn I lost all of my skinks on the pitch, including the ball carrier to a wizard, who hit 4 out of 5 opponents.
*As a side note, if anyone knows the name of this wizard I would love to hire him specifically someday, as my fireball's end up being cast by Fizban, but I digress.
This is where my luck turned and even though I couldn't stop the ball carrier, I was hurting players (or KOing them) left and right, and when I wasn't Cloggy's dodges were as the all star hired for the game was injured on a dodge before the first TD of the game.
After the TD, I was forced to desperation, I ran down the field with Cole and only 1 escort. Cole was injured by a Lou Reed II blitz, but the ball was still close enough for a Saurus to pick it up if he was lucky, really lucky. And guess what folks? He was really lucky! After blitzing a blitzer, the ball bounced to an open square and Myst picked it up and scored. After this bit of luck and a great kick to end the first half that carried just far enough, we were tied 1 all.
The second half it was ugli! Really bad luck by my opponent and very good luck by myself sealed the victory when Saurus Forge picked up the ball, stalled at the goal line and scored.
I faced a great opponent, who out coached me, and I stole one because of the dice.
