Scheduled Smack - Round 1:

A crazy game. The elves managed to avoid blocks throughout the first half, and we could do little with what we were given. Our bull managed to BH a rookie linemen - otherwise the first half was a failure.

Second half we plodded downfield - and the dark elves dice went a bit cold - using up some RRs on dodges. They never had a decent shot at the ball, and tossed a snakes to prevent them from lining up a defense on T15. We scored and did managed to BH another rookie along the way. The one turn attempt failed for the dark elves and used up another RR.

Overtime - all 4 KOs came back for the dark elves...so they had 11 players AND they won the coin toss so they could receive AND there was a pitch invasion stunning 6 of our players (only 2 DE down). At this point - it seemed completely over. However, a few small things added up...the DE spent their last RR on the pickup...so their ballcarrier was 8 spaces from the endzone (MA 7 blitzer). We tried to put pressure, but it was a sad show. The elves did not risk the 2+ gfi and camped by the endzone. They set up a good defense - but then the magic was starting to flow for the bulls. A 1d block was needed to start the sequence and failed...so no RR for the bulls...but 3 gfis worked for the assist, then 4+ dodge and 2d block for the POW and the ballcarrier was down. Ball was in range and we tried a 3+ dodge to get it - but failed. Back to the elves, they needed pickup and 1 gfi...pickup was fine...but again it was the last step - they failed the gfi. Our bull surfed their witch elf to free himself and raced up and grabbed the ball (using another RR). The elves tried, but now they were tripping over themselves and we raced downfield - blocking the elves and fouling them to clear a path - blood started flowing at this point with a dead elf and others being removed. It took the full 8 turns of OT, but our bull went coast to coast to secure the win.

Crazy game - well played as always by Purplegoo - thanks!

#3 Sonic II – Dead (RIP)
That's Blood Bowl, I suppose.

The Elfstall seemed to pass without incident, but the second half didn't feel great; perhaps I could have done more. I was relatively happy for the majority that I'd be able to keep you at arm's length, but I think the lack of threat on the team allowed you to be a bit fast and loose, create more blocks and as such, reduce me to a poor last turn position. Need some ariel Strip or Sidestep to keep opponents more honest and reduce attrition.

Overtime was a bit nonsense; but I always hate the '2+ to win the game' type argument, I'd rather look at the small percentages here and there that got a game to that point and eliminate those.

Even though, I must confess, the past month or so is getting right under my skin with this sort of heartbreaker. I've no doubt that the annoyance is lowering the level I like to play at, just feel I need a little run of breaks to get my mojo back.

All the best in the rest; I often think head to head records are a load of low statistical sample nonsense; but perhaps you have the Indian sign over me for a reason. Dunno! ;)

Edited because apparently I've lost my typing mojo too!
