GLT IX, main event round 1.

A hard fought game! My plan was to kick and play conservatively, saving the wiz as long as possible into the 1st half for a good shot at a turnover late enough to score and leave the monkey boys no chance at an equalizer. That would setup a quick score for me in the 2nd half and then I would hope to have enough frogs left to keep the lead.

No sooner did I make this plan than I threw it out the window. A deep kick and a spread field had me running deep in the hopes that I could knock the ball loose without any cage breaking or even using the wiz. It almost worked, but not quite... and Kryten was happy to punish me with blocks for moving in early on the ball. The game turned on Salsa's last ditch effort to setup a turn 8 score, and heartbreakingly close he was to pulling it off - but it was not to be.

0-0 going into the second with 6 frogs vs a very scary monkey and some pansy orcs, I decided to risk a play to one side with the intent to fake back and stall as long as possible rather than going for the likely quick score and slow grind to OT. But wait - a monkey comes out of nowhere to tag the ballcarrier! What is he doing there!? If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was expertly placed to thwart any plan I dared hope for. And sure enough, some dice were kissed and then rolled in a desperate attempt to salvage the plan... But the monkey wins again!

Well done sir, and good luck with the rest!
