“Lots of Elf Nonsense in Drawn Game

A quick snap, and Bull-Steed Malbronk picked up the deep kick. The cage faltered around the halfway line as a couple of hobgoblins were knocked out, but Barry Beef-Venison killed lineman Greg Tansey to clear a bit of a path, and Malbronk badly hurt the elf thrower as he blitzed into the Stevenage half. Some risky stalling followed, which the elves punished... Phil Beardsley failed a block leaving Ayam-oah Gyan open, and a vicious block killed him outright - and the apothecary could do nothing to save the blocker. Luckily for Sundered Land, an elf failed his dodge meaning Malbronk was free to run in the score just before halftime... leaving the high elves just enough time for a loner to be sent off.

With a 2-player advantage, the chaos dwarves were looking for some solid defence in the second half. Despite a riot confusing the referee at the kick-off, the elves did their usual passing shenanigans are were level midway through the half. Malbronk again picked up the ball for the next drive, and hobgoblin Dean Whiteheads cleared a path by fracturing the arm of line-elf Mark Roberts with a particularly effective foul. Super-agile elf blitzer Marcus Haber tok Malbronk down and stole the ball, but as the elves tried some more cheeky passing to win the game, hobgoblin Grant Leadbitter leapt up to intercept - a second interception for the dwarves in 2 games! He continued his elf impression by failing to dodge free, leaving the ball loose again. Malbronk once again grabbed it but, trying desperately to get into range of the endzone, he tripped over his feet. With moments left, the elves tried one last-ditch long pass attempt... but a fumble left the ball loose with no-one able to score, and the game was tied.

Blocker Phil Beardsley was awarded the MVP for a solid game of doing nothing useful, but it was enough to skill up and he learnt guard. Star bull centaur Bull-Steed Malbronk also levelled up, with a casualty and a touchdown, and continued the golden skill rolls the centaurs have got by rolling a double... so now both centaurs have dodge :-)

The loss of a blocker was painful, especially as he had 4 SPPs and these guys are taking forever to skill up, but the team had enough in the bank to replace him and - to be honest - won't be needing it to buy much else, apart from maybe another couple of hobgoblins to fill out the bench and give some more fouling options.”
