#12 Radu cel Mare – Dead (RIP)
#14 Matei Basarab – Smashed Knee (NI)
KPL Season #2
KFC: North VS South Conference round 2

The last time the Starlight Corsairs faced the Bedouin, I said it should be nominated for dicing of the season. Well, this game I nominate T6 of the 2nd half for dicing in a single turn of the season. The Bedouin got a bit careless and left the Corsairs with a 2 die blitz on the carrier. Helsinger was only too happy to take it, and not only popped the ball free but popped a ghoul of the pitch (KO'd the sure handed one). Then Wulfgar dodged free twice, made a gfi, picked the ball up in a TZ and made the 2nd gfi - only to snake the last dodge to freedom. Ok sure, he wasn't in the endzone yet, but the Bedouin only had one turn to drop him or else he was home free. And even if they did drop him, they might not have recovered the ball. As it was, the Corsairs made them fight for every inch of ground. Alas, After T6, the Corsairs could roll nothing but 1s and the Vampires just went berserk with thirst. This is a game that slipped away from us not through bad play but through really horrid dice. And to add insult to injury, the apothecary double killed poor Radu cel Mare. One of our longest lived thralls (played all 13 games so far), and a Wrestler, he has been a big part of what little success the team has had. Both Radu and Matei will be missed (Matei was a recent graduate of the Blocking academy). <sigh>

Grats, WhatBall. The ref and the dice are conspiring to make you a two time season champ. And we were little more than a speed bump in your path.

Blood Lust stats
thanks to WhatBall for putting up with me keeping track of this, and for the offer of a new logo. Both are appreciated

Shebhorash Blood Dragon - 0 fails in 1st half (5 actions), 2 fails in 2nd half (7 actions - Bey Irsu BH in T1, Petru cel Tanar stunned in T6), total actions in game 12
Draculesti Helsinger - 2 fails in 1st half (4 actions - off in the crowd T6 and T8), 1 fail in 2nd half (6 actions - Babaef Khnumbaf stunned in T8), total actions in game 10
Rutger 'Wulfgar' Von Carstein - 1 fail (Pro failed too) in 1st half (5 actions - Pro Failed, Cleomenes of Numas Stunned in T2), 1 fail (Pro succeeded) in 2nd half (6 actions - T8, successfully Pro rerolled), total actions in game 11
Ozymandia Ptolemy II Philadelphus - 0 fails in 1st half (1 action in T8), 2 fails in 2nd half (6 actions - rerolled in T6, T8 Petru cel Tanar Stunned), total actions in game 7

Total 9 fails (2 successfully rerolled, 1 with Pro & 1 with Team) out of 40 rolls (3 of 15 1st half spread out over 7 turns, 6 of 25 2nd half with 2 successful rerolls and 3 of the 6 fails coming in T16), resulting in 4 stuns/0 KOs/1 BH as well as 2 off in the crowds and 2 successful rerolls. The vintage of the match was Petru cel Tanar with 2 bites, but the crowd should also get an honorable mention as the ravenous Draculesti Helsinger visited them twice in the 1st half (3 fails for the game). All the other Vamp Lords had two bites each (though Wulfgar and Ozymandias each resisted the urge once through a reroll). The Vamp Lords are back to their thirsty ways (3 of 15 1st half, 6 of 25 2nd half, total for game 22.5%) but was mitigated some by the 2 successful rerolls (out of 3 attempts). Also like many past games, the 2nd half was the thirstier half by far, with T16 seeing the Vampire Lords really cut loose (T2 of the 1st half was the only other multi-bite turn). I haven't compared all the games this season yet, but this game was something like 1 fail in 4.5 actions and that seems to be closer to the team norm. It still seems rather high to me, and combined with the inevitable snake eyes that bite us most games (usually at a crucial moment) our Loss column continues to outpace our Win column 10:2 with a meaningless pre-season draw tossed in.
