“FUMBBL B Minor MW IX-1 Round 5 (Finals):

What a wild game! We were expecting the Dwarves to show up with a bribe the ref to keep their deathroller on the pitch but instead they showed up with a bomber and a babe. They received the ball but left both deathroller and the bomber on the sidelines. We managed to harass effectively, knocking the ball lose but we stumbled after recovering it and trying to secure it. They managed to recover and slowly march down the field. We landed ~4-5 one or two block dice hits with wrestle against the ball carrier (no dodge) without success. Finally, we dislodged the ball with only turn 8 remaining but the dwarves managed to clear a path, scoop and score to go up 1-0. Without any RRs, we needed a simple push with a grab treeman to go for the OTT, but a 1 on the ball pick-up foiled that effort.

We added a quick score in the 2nd half which resulted in the deathroller being sent off. With 6 turns remaining, we applied the pressure defensively, landing several 1 BD hits on the ball carrier without success. The game was a very slow-moving one with both coaches really taking their time during their turns, with my opponent passing the 4-min mark a couple times without any timeouts being called on my part. With only a couple turns left, my opponent once again broke the 4-min mark and I pulled the trigger calling the timeout which left his ball carrier more exposed than he would have liked.

This allowed for me to land a 2 BD wrestle hit on him bringing him to the ground. The ball bounced right into the arms of our 5ag wardancer (Tinaglanb Brushdash), who was left adjacent to his strip ball blitzer. We managed to put a catcher Lilraar Emberdreamer in scoring range, as it was turn 7. The next turn, he knocks down the war dancer and the ball bounces multiple times into the hands of a dwarf lineman who was left near midfield, behind the action. Trying to put a runner in scoring range, the dwarf runner trips ending his turn, giving the woodelves a 0 RR chance at a win.

We get an easy 2 BD wrestle hit on the ball carrier, knocking him down. Our wardancer Gabriella DeVille then dodges twice, scoops up the loose ball, runs into the dwarf zone, passes it to our awaiting catcher who then runs in for the game winning 2-1 score!

A wild finish to a wild tournament! Tournament MVP goes to Gabriella DeVille who tossed the game winning pass, harassed the Dwarf ball carriers all game long, and willed our team to a round 3 victory by piling up 4 casualties and 1 TD in her performance... She really showed up when we needed her most!

This brings "Elf Yourself"'s overall record to 13/1/1 after 15 games, an impressive 90% win rate! We'll see if we can keep it up going forward! :)

Note: In a celebratory mood for having just won the B-Minor, coach footballolb16 decided to hire journeyman Leroy Deephawk, despite not doing much in the game, Leroy did recover one bouncing ball and made one block which freed up a player to give an assist elsewhere. As a member of the winning-team, we will expect good things from Leroy going forward!”
