Warpstone Open XI Qualifier X - Round 2

This was a difficult assignment on paper. Wood elves are never easy to keep away from the ball, let alone 2 well developed war dancers and an AG5 leaping catcher, plus other well developed catchers and a wizard. Winning the toss, the decision to kick or receive alone was a tough one, so I went with my instincts and the Devils received.

With the LOS hits out the way, it's still 11 wood elves on the pitch. This could be a long game, I thought to myself. Then Tom Scurvy blitzed an elf out the match. A quick micro-lesson in jumping to conclusions!

Fast forward to half time, and Verminardo suffered awful luck and then made an error in the OTS - abandoning it when it was still just about possible. A shame, but I'll take it. With the Devils hitting hard in the 2nd half, the wizard was not just too little too late but fizzled as well. Not Verminardo's day.

Thanks for the game Verminardo. Tough necromantcs await in the 3rd round.

Yeah well in fairness reroll was gone and it was still a bunch of dice to roll on the one turner, so probably I just would have killed an Elf in trying... but I learned this day that Stand Firm does not work on prone players!

I made one serious mistake mid 1st half overlooking Diving Tackle, which might have well made a difference. I had a total of four prone Linemen I was going to stand up and dodge that turn so if that went without rolling 1s I could have put up a lot of pressure with the Wizard in the back. As it stood it was turnover with the four guys still on the ground, and it went downhill from there. Too bad!

Cheers Chainsaw, well played!
