#2 Jake Matthews – Pinched Nerve (MNG) #7 Mike Adams – Smashed Hand (MNG)
“Hightower was missed. Team needed to run a simplified playbook, which reintroduced more risky tactics, such as agressive ogre play, and agressive fouling (even when it could seriously backfire), plus playing more for position early than hard hitting.
The issues surfaced early in spite of the correctness of the strategy. Flashfurt hit harder, and forced an early score in turn 6. Flynn could only delay the scoring - was a huge effort anyway - but had to score before completing the perfect stall.
Then a crowd threw a rock at Adams, when he was an Anchor of the 2 minute defense. The rock almost killed him! Fortunately the team apo was good enough to save his life, and his body from perm effects.
Second half saw desperate defense, and serious un-pro mistake by Flashfurt franchize player Lynch. Patriots capitalised, with a real team effort highlighted by Gilmore, Flynn, Joyner. Flashfurt made huge efforts to stop the machine, and succeeded when Flynn failed to pick up the ball at the last turn.
The draw is not a bad result, but considering win was within reach, and we will miss Matthews and Adams against a division rival, the coaching staff is not happy with the result.”
