#14 Gaston Taument – Broken Jaw (MNG)
The apes and monkeys of Bijdorp were ookooking and eekeeking wildly this morning. Coach Medon could hardly make any motivational speech due to the loud sounds. Not that that mattered today. The apes excited as ever, about meeting elves on the pitch tonight! Elves make such nice sounds when they splat on the ground. Like squeezing a banana with your left foot. Plus, they don't like our tPOMBer Ove Kindvall nor our DT gorilla Ed de Goey.

But it started all differently. The elves were well prepared and hired Hubris Rakarth and Prince Moranion, two mercenaries well trained in hitting apes in the weak spots. Hubris' first block badly hurted MB gorilla John de Wolf. His second block badly hurted Silverback Bokito. His third block badly hurted frenzy MB bonobo Bonaventure Kalou. What a mercenary! Prince Moranion also wanted to show his worth and knocked out AG4 uranutan Pierre van Hooijdonk in our own turn, by a double skull block from us. Luckily enough, Ove Kindvall and Gabor Babos also hit two elves out and Dirk Kuijt fouled one elf out, so the teams were kind of in balance again. After a lucky ball scatter Gabor Babos could run in the offensive TD in turn 8. 1-0! A rock from the audience in Elf C's turn 8 made the ape misery worse by seriously injuring bonobo Gaston Taument.

Second half started. 5 apes out. 3 elves out. How could this have happened? We will need to watch back some detailed video recordings of the match to improve our blocking skills. The apes were less excited at half time than during breakfast and made significantly less 'ook' and 'eek' sounds, and significantly more 'oof', 'moan' and 'ouch' sounds. On the positive side, this allowed coach Medon to hold his motivational speech, which was definately needed now...

Elf C started their drive with a failed block at the LoS and forgot to secure the ball first. This allowed Gabor Babos to sneak in the opponents half and pick up the ball. Prince Moranian tried to knock Gabor Babos down but only rolled push back/both down and Babos could stay on his feet, albeit encircled by three elves and all team mates too far away to help. But then Ove Kindvall came to the rescue. He needed two go for its to place a 1D block on the Elf C catcher Christien Meindertsma and knocked him/her down. This allowed Babos to dodge away and go for it in the endzone, 2-0 in turn 2!

What followed was a shameless copy of the earlier drive. Elf C failing an initial block at the LoS and Gabor Babos tacking advantage of it. 3-0 in turn 5!

Nuffle was cruel this second half. Blijdorp got a Blitz! kick-off roll. But a failed dodge of Gabor Babos made sure they couldn't steal the ball this time. AG5 lineelf Karel Doorman threw a short pass on target to catcher Christien Meindertsma. He/she ran forth out of reach of the slow gorillas. Or so he/she thought. He/she stumbled over his/her own long hair during a go for it and fell flat out on the wet grass. UranUtan Pierre van Hooijdonk could pick up the ball and throw the long bomb to Gabor Babos, who could score his 4th TD of the evening in turn 8. 4-0 final score, best victory ever for Blijdorp (previous best match was only 2-0...)!

This was really a match of two halves. The first half Blijdorp got punched and maimed and only luckily managed to score the TD by a good ball scatter. The second half Elf C Utrecht broke down completely and failed several crucial rolls, allowing Blijdorp to counterstrike and run in 4 TDs. Are elves again the favourite opponents...? You can count on it! Ook ook! Eek eek!
