“CIBBL year 2: spring season: match 1:

For the first time I had Jordell Freshbreeze in my team, but his appearance was limited to a slapstick appearance of a snaked dodge followed by getting fouled off the pitch.

Rookie wood elf teams are one-trick ponies, depending heavily on the wardancers. I had no less than three at my disposition this game, one of which even with ag5. But they are very vulnerable too, for example to rocks thrown by the crowd. And that's how Arlas died, after the wandering apothecary had already been used to save Polkan from a niggling injury.

Trees hammering down on rookie wood elves is a brutal matter. By turn 4 I was down to 5 players on the pitch. Meanwhile I had already knocked the ball free once, killing the ball-carrying spite in the process. Unfortunately the ball landed in the hands of another spite. Setting up an effective defense was quite hard, also because none of the 6 trees took root.

Time for Jordell to move in and work his magic. He snaked on a dodge though and was fouled twice before leaving the field to the casualty box. By then the first half looked definitively lost, until another wardancer hopped through for a 3d blitz on the ball, but it was not enough. 1-0 with 2 turns left.

Things went from bad to worse when a rock from the crowd killed Arlas, one of the wardancers. It was not even half-time and I'd already lost 2 out of 3 wardancers. Much worse, one of my best players was dead. Not good in a league, especially when you're the weakest team around. And still it wasn't enough for Nuffle, he also gave me 10k winnings to rub it in even more.

Despite all these setbacks, I still managed to pull off a lucky two-turner. 1-1 at half-time.

The Meddlers started the second half with only 6 players, but they were receiving the kick. There was still a chance to win the game. The idea was to run through with the last wardancer, with the ball in his hands. Trees are too slow to catch him, and spites only have st1.

It worked well enough, until Nuffle gave me another snake on a gfi. That was the end of the game, in turn 2 of the second half.

10k for winnings hurt even more.
